We regally treat ourselves to an afternoon cream tea. So we decided to start 2022 with an afternoon cream tea at the Hardwick Hall Hotel. We are regular visitors to this venue where we have enjoy a beverage prior to a stroll around the adjoining excellent country park. We have stayed there too. Upon booking, a couple of weeks ago, allergies were noted. The staff were polite and engaging. The tea and coffee were hot. As for the food it was spot on. Everything was fresh and well presented. I did observe that there were a number of other guests taking afternoon cream teas also. The price was reasonably pitched. So it was a very pleasant afternoon . Top marks to the team, both seen and unseen.

I have been waiting since November for my complaint to be addressed by this hotel. Unfortunately they have ignored my concerns, they have also ignored a response from booking.com who also tried to contact them regarding my complaint. The hotel room was incredibly dirty, not at all what I expected considering it is regarded a 4 star hotel.

In general a nice hotel but let down by small problems. Day to day maintenance needs more attention; in our bathroom the towel rail had been removed but the holes were not filled in, a tile had been broken but just filled in with grout and the mirror light did not work. Breakfast menu looked fantastic but only the Full English was available, the excuse was they did not have a delivery due to the Christmas holiday. Management knew Christmas was comic and made no alternative arrangements, there is a large Sainsburys supermarket less than 5 mins from the hotel which was ope and fully stocked.

I attended a work Christmas party on December 4th 2021. The food was adequate, but by no means what I would expect from a four star hotel. The lack of bar staff was abysmal, resulting in long queues and a waiting time of at least 20 minutes for most of the evening. There were two bars available, and both only had two staff working at the busiest times. Table service for drinks was not an option. Overall a disappointing evening.
