Our Chalet was clean & modern with a stunning view of the mountain. Callum is very knowledgeable and helpful with so many tips for our walk. Both Callum and Miki were welcoming and friendly with lots of information on other activities in the area. The early morning shuttle was perfect and made it exciting to start our walk in the dark. Would definitely recommend staying at Discovery Lodge.

We have stayed with Discovery Lodge a few times already & I have to say we never disappointed with this place & people. Callum & Miki are super awesome people. They always have time for a quick chat in a super friendly manner & also their local knowledge is great. We took their early shuttle service to the crossing starting point; which makes everything much more enjoyable as we can be a few hours ahead of a lot of people. Also, I have managed to capture a stunning sunrise with beautiful colours. The room we were staying in is a little bit dated but super clean & tidy. I love to highly recommend Discovery Lodge as each time we had a great experience. We are looking forward to coming back & do camping with our kids next summer. Thank you so much & all the very best Callum & Miki! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ½

Callum is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is the only service that leaves early so you can enjoy the crossing without the crowds. He gives practical info (his blog is fab) so you know you have the right gear and will be safe. He does early pick ups too so you get back to wherever you are staying early. I highly recommend the shuttle service!

Stayed for a couple of nights this week in a Chalet. Miki greeted me and was so welcoming and friendly. She was full of information and went through the weather conditions for the next day and organised a shuttle time for me in the morning. Nice and early. The chalet i was in was just beautiful. Lovely and modern and clean. So comfortable and I felt spoilt. Views across the way of the mountains. In an awesome setting. Callum drove me to the start of the Tongariro crossing. He is super knowledgeable and my safety was his priority. He is no cowboy and takes the well-being of walkers seriously. He also went through the weather conditions and was comfortable with the choice of day for the walk. And what a spectacular walk it was.I started walking just before 6am, I got fab weather, with a mix of cloud and sun which was the best of both worlds and meant I didn't fry in the hot sun on the volcano. I got to see the sunrise and Mt Taranaki/Egmont whilst ascending. Callum can answer all of your questions relating to anything in the area and is a wealth of information having lived there for so long and having explored the area extensively. You feel prepared and safe. He picked me up at the other end right on cue. Cannot recommend highly enough and will be back again in a heartbeat. This is the best spot to stay especially if you're doing the Tongariro Crossing or any of the walks in the area.

AMAZING! Callum offered a great shuttle bus. He had great local knowledge and was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this company and the crossing. We started the walk early as recommended which ended up being well worth it as we got to see the sunrise and also bet any crowds.
