We stayed here one night while walking the Camino. In advance we requested a very quiet room because we’ve been in a few noisy places and really needed a good night’s sleep. The room we were given was the most quiet of any on the Camino! It was also perfectly clean, comfortable beds, good shower and kind staff. We wanted an early start on our walk so we missed breakfast, even tho it was included in the price, so we can’t comment on the food (the desk clerk did make us coffee at 6:30 am and gave us a couple of little cakes). If you need a quiet night in Cacabelos, this is the place!
The Hotel Villa de Cacabelos is one of our favorite places to stay on the Camino. It is an upscale hotel with downscale prices. The staff is great, the rooms are fantastic, and the buffet breakfast is stupendous! It hotel is just a few meters to the left of the Camino as you walk through Cacabelos. It is absolutely worth the small detour. It even has air conditioning! And a bidet!! You can wash your boots! Just kidding:). This hotel is one of the best on the Camino. If you want to spoil yourself this is the place for you.
We stayed here with a group and received super friendly service in addition to clean rooms. The rooms are not fancy, but they have everything one needs. I would, however, ask for one that does NOT front the main street. Super noisy.
As you will note from the other reviews the reason most stay here is to take a break from walking the Camino de Santiago. By this time many will have walked 25 days and been subject to sleepless nights in dormitories of 40 people, putting up with snoring and constant disruption particularly as people get up before the crack of dawn to make sure they get a bed for the next night. So what could be better than 'splashing out' €36 for a night of comfort in a large bed with clean sheets, a big bathroom with your very own shower and bath (not to share) and plenty of time to dump at your leisure! You probably wouldn't look twice at this modern Holiday Inn type hotel if it were anywhere else but here it really is what many pilgrims need. If you are lucky enough to encounter Luis, the owner /manager, then you might even give the place an extra point. A wonderful non-English speaking character who mimed his way through an entire dinner conversation and then insisted on showing us around the Hotel including the love nest penthouse on the top floor and also his wonderful collection of drinking vessels, just next to the dining room, where a good breakfast buffet was served. You can't miss the Villa as you are accosted by four enormous advertising hoardings as you climb the hill into Cacabellos. Like the owner and his hotel, totally incongruous and larger than life. Viva la Villa!…
Extremely friendly staff - the owner & receptionist, Marga in particular went out of their way to be helpful The room was comfortable, spacious and had all mod cons. Wifi worked well but you need to keep logging in as you move around the hotel, a minor inconvenience. The bar showed all the La Liga live matches. And the breakfast was copious. It cost me €36 for a private room, worth every cent.
