Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This was a five unit complex, behind a cafe, which worked well for our group. The rooms were compact, but the shower was warm and the unit was clean. Good coffee from the cafe, and a few minutes fro the town centre. Host was helpful with dinner ideas and restaurants.

We drove past the location multiple times not knowing if it's the right location as from the outset, it's a restaurant/cafe. Road construction is happening in front of the premises right now. Anyhow, the accommodation is tucked at the back. Standard-wise, it is akin to Top 10 accommodation facilities in New Zealand (meaning 3 stars). All the basics are there but be mindful that you get what you pay for. We don't necessarily think that the staff is indiferent about the guests. The staff is in actual fact, rather chillaxing and understated, a true reflection of a family run operation. Yvette is friendly and amiable and so was his team at the restaurant. Normally, staying in a motel in New Zealand, front office crew would ask guests if they would want a complimentary milk. This being Raglan, we were given a choice of various types of milk (very bespoke). Yvette was concerned that we would be deterred by the sound caused by the pitter patter of the rain but we were accustomed to such noise (this being NZ type of accommodation). WiFi is not reliable (on and off erratically). The cooking stove in Unit 2 definitely needed looking into as it never got hot enough to heat up our food. Water pressure in the shower unit was adequate. Beds were okay, heating was adequate. Being a guest at the hotel, the occupant is entitled to a free coffee at the cafe in front. We were in a rush the day we were departing and never got around to accept Yvette's offer but we would most definitely be back. As long as you are mindful that this is a three star facility and that you get what you pay for, then, you would have a nice time here. We know we most certainly did. In summary, there's room for improvement. Keep up the great work.

Small basic unit, but clean and a short walk to the beach. There is no oven and TV but a top stove and very comfortable beds. The Food Department staff are friendly and helpful when you go there to pick up the key. We had a lonely night there.

Simple accommodation but for the price, excellent value. Absolutely fine for a bed for the night or two. Very clean and in a delightful leafy setting with wrap round veranda. Only a 20 minute walk into town. Raglan is pure delight. The accommodation also has an on site café. The Raglan Roast Food where you will enjoy excellent and delicious food and cabinet food. Melt in the mouth lemon meringue tart and a perfectly fresh jalapeño and cheese scone. Complemented by complimentary coffee as motel guests.
The only thing missing in the accommodation was a dish cloth.
For the price, it is what it is and perfectly adequate for a short stay.
Delightful crew.

A great place to stay and not far from town. The unit we had worked well for 2 people. Small fridge and microwave, table and 2 chairs. Good sized bathroom with walk in shower. Lovely and clean and presented well. Bed was comfy and bedding was nice and warm. The bed is fitted into a tight space so only a small space each side of the bed. We didn’t find it difficult but if you have mobility issues it could be a problem. No TV in any of the units but free wifi. Unfortunately it’s not very good reception. Parking is available outside the units but it is a tight space. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights, wanted to leave the moment we walked in, however all other accommodation was booked out. The walls are so thin you can hear everything going on in the area, the fridge made noises all night like someone was trying to open the door, Positive note the room was clean, clean towels were provided, beds were comfortable but the movement of the mattress felt like your going to roll off the bed. We definitely won't be back

Stayed here for one brief night, glad that it was limited. You pay for what you get, but wouldn't expect to get what you see in the photos.
Fellow travellers mentioned there were no other choices in the region and as business travellers, had no other options to stay.
Young staff, not interested even after stuffing up rooms/ keys.
Cheap but would never go back.

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon trip across the north island. The staff was wonderful and always helped us with anything we needed! The coffee and pizza next door is so convenient and delicious, and the staff is pretty rad as well! We were able to walk into town both nights with no problem! Thank you for your hospitality! Cheers!
