Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We (couple of oldies) stayed 4 nights at Scotts Place and couldn't have been more delighted and surprised at the welcome - warm & friendly; the location - not far from Raglan, but could've been miles from anywhere; the property - right out of 70s sustainable living / hippiedom: rambling, comfortable, homegrown eggs & tomatoes - and the local Raglan Roast coffee (unbeatable); the private cabin accommodation better than many we've had (incl soft pillows). And it's always such a pleasure meeting younger people from around the world. All in all we wouldn't stay anywhere else next visit up this way.

Scott's place is what you'd want your future home to look and feel like. It's small and cozy with very comfortable beds, also the hosts were awesome. This hostel is very different from others, not as commercial but rather alternative, and you'll find that staying there will make you never want to leave again. If you are looking for a relaxed and fun place to stay, thats far from touristic, go to Scott's place.

Lights were on so we found Scotts place pretty easily in the dark.
A freezing Friday night but with the fire going inside it was really nice. Scott is hilarious and runs a lovely house with free lollipops and two friendly dogs all adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Great for a short stay, thank u!
Also enjoyed the concert at the yot club Friday night #tikitaane some good eats #raglanroast #localeatery and shopping in town on Saturday morning. Raglan is the perfect short break for city peeps -quality and relaxation :)

Booked a chalet with the idea to start my holiday relaxed. Instead, when we called, the shuttle only wanted to pick us up in the middle of nowhere. Prior to our stay we called to assure the shuttle would bring us back which was agreed. When we arrived, Scot told us he didn't want to bring us back the next day if he was still asleep. Since there is no public transport and the main road is far, we were forced to buy a 60 dollar taxi for a 5 minute drive. Bad service if you state you have a shuttle service.

Place overall feels like you enter a home with family, guest are really friendly and the atmosphere and views are amazing. Wish I could have enjoyed it more when I wasn't worrying about getting back. WiFi was really good.

Response from Scott T, Owner at Scott's Place
Responded 13 Apr 2016
Sorry there was confusion Yara. Our website CLEARLY states on every page at the bottom: "Getting here is easy. Come by car, hitch-hike, or we’ll come and pick you up from the Te Uku Roast Office any day before 4pm. Just ask the coffee master behind the counter to call Scott's Place when you arrive, and someone will come and pick you up shortly. Please give us 24 hours notice if you require a pickup." And we would not have said otherwise on the phone. Other than the small transportation issue, I'm glad you liked the atmosphere.

If you like a chilled out atmosphere, an off the beaten track spot, and get to know some really interesting people this is definetly the place to be. Scott will make you feel right at home and will share with you some insights you'll carry with you for some time. A constant growing experience while at his and would gladly see myself coming back. The spot itself is great with a fresh water stream flowing all the time, a natural gym for you to work out and some herbs in the garden you can use to cook. Wish him nothing but the best

My friend and I were stuck in Raglan with no where to stay and all of the hostels were booked - including Scott's Place! I talked to Scott on the phone and he said that he would sort us out anyway he could. He initially said that we could sleep on their office floor, but when we arrived he had set up a tent with everything we needed (we had no camping gear) and it was perfect. The property was beautiful and the house itself had everything we need. Thanks Scott and staff for the great night!

Stayed here for only one night recently. We had a lovely stay. Scott & Lili are very welcoming into their home! Their dog looks a little scary but is really a very friendly gentle giant!
The cabin felt brand new & was spotlessly clean. It was also pretty cosy considering it's still quite cold in NZ. It was in a good location - only around 15mins by car into Raglan. I highly recommend a stay here :) Natalie & Jonny

The place was quite hard to find (with/without GPS) but it was definitely a very nice place to refresh yourself during the stay. I would recommend you guys to check in before the sun goes down because the road towards the place was very dark.
