I was in desperate need of a weekend away from the city and booked in to the Mountain View cabin for a night. Such a wonderful place. Access to the whole property is down a little road off the main road, making it very private. Views are beautiful and it's so peaceful.
My own private hot tub / BBQ and outdoor area was so lovely. I popped on some music, poured a glass of wine and spent the evening soaking in the hot tub looking up at the stars. Amazingly relaxing. The fluffy dressing gowns in the room too was perfect for nipping in & out of the hot tub!
The room itself was stylish and very comfortable and despite the cold temperatures outside, it was very warm and snug indoors. The electric blanket was most welcome!
There's a toaster, kettle, fridge and microwave (plus BBQ) so cooking options are fairly limited but no problem if you plan ahead or love a BBQ as much as I do!
Was lovely to wake up, draw back the curtains, and lie in bed with breakfast looking out to the mountains. The bed was amazing - I slept for 9 hours straight!
I actually didn't put the tv on my whole stay but if you fancy watching a movie, there's a great plasma tv in the rooms and an excellent selection of free DVDs to help yourself to in the office.
It was connected to the cabin next door so unfortunately you could hear a little noise from the people next door but nothing too serious - murmured chatting and walking around. Perhaps a bag of fresh coffee in the fridge would have been a lovely touch - to match the lovely heart chocolates by the bed! All in all, an absolutely delightful stay. Highly recommend for a couple or single wanting some R&R. And only 10 minutes from beautiful Raglan too!

Stayed here for about 10 days as part of work and was the best 10 days of my life. Stayed at both the Mountain View and Tree Tops Chalets. I utilised the spa pool and BBQ almost every day and had some of the best sleeps I've had in a long time.

Location is very private and blissful. Located about 3 minutes from the Te Uku Four Square, Raglan Roast Coffee shop and Waitomo fillup. Another 10 minute drive to Raglan.

Peaceful and quiet, I felt it was an invigorating experience and a great way to revitalise the mind, body and soul, being amongst nature.

Mountain View was amazing.
Very spacious living room and wheel-chair access ramp which was accompanied by private seating area and spa pool.
Bathroom was very interesting, open plan I would say. 2-doors which led from the living into the bedroom.
2 TV's - one in the living room, one in the bedroom(this one came with SKY)
Bedroom also featured two sliding doors which was great for opening the place up.

Tree tops was amazing also.
A lot more private that the Mountain View. Two-storey unit with Bedroom and Bathroom/Toilet upstairs.
Spa pool is virtually right outside the door, almost, which comes with an adjustable umbrella. A very lovely outdoor setup to set the scene for a very romantic night if need be.

Plenty of towels provided. Cutlery and plates etc. provided.
Cooking oil, soap/shampoo, toilet paper.

Thanks to the great team at Hidden Valley once again, I looking forward to returning in the near future for hopefully a more romantic stay this time, rather than work.

I stayed here in January 2017 for 2 nights in the Mountain View Chalet.
Sue has created an awesome eco retreat, on her property.
I fully recommed 2 nights or more at Hidden Valley.

The Mountain View chalet is very modern, with all the amenities you would expect in a 4 star hotel, plus many of the comforts of home.

Sue has put a lot of thought into the Hidden Valley experience and I throughly recommend it for people wanting to get away from the stresses of every day life and get back to nature.

Will be back for sure!

Lovely private spot with great accomodation. They have thought of everything you needs for a break away. Far away enough away from town to find peace and quiet, but close enough to pop into Raglan and enjoy a walk on the beach and visit one of the yummy cafés. Hosts were very helpful and and available when we needed to ask questions :)

Wow! Hidden Valley is a wheelchair users dream. Spacious, superbly appointed and spotlessly clean. Comfort to the max! The room has all the mod cons you need for living independently. The wet area bathroom is huge and overhead shower a real treat. Secluded location is so peaceful and makes for a very relaxing stay.
Be sure to ask the owner for tips on where to fish and his sons on where to surf - local experts!

Loved our night in the mountain view chalet. It was private and relaxing.
Made use of the private spa and it was just what we needed after a long week away travelling.
Beautiful accomodation and very clean with all the bits and pieces you could ever need.
Wish we could have stayed longer.

This was the second time we've stayed at Hidden Valley, so that's testament to how much we like it! We've now stayed in both the Tree Tops & Mountain View Chalets and had a lovely experience both times. It's a peaceful and serene place - a real chance to unwind. We've loved exploring the local area, and soaking in the spa at the end of each day. The hosts were lovely and easy to deal with, and left us to it during our stay - but were around if we did need anything. We would thoroughly recommend Hidden Valley!

Great place to escape the mad rush.. Not too far away from great cafes and the beach in raglan. Nice, quiet and private little location over looking the wind farm surrounded by native bush. Complete with a spa to take in the serenity. Would recommend it for any time of the year. Amazing place and amazing hospitality .. Can't wait to go back !!

We stayed at Hidden Valley (Treetops Chalet) for 2 nights mid-week just to hit "pause" from our busy life.

We loved Hidden Valley! The chalet was the perfect size for two, beautifully and tastefully decorated, felt brand new, cosy without being cramped, and was squeaky clean. The weather was lousy but that actually added to the experience, since the chalet was so warm and cosy! We weren't able to enjoy the outdoor hammock and seating, just because of the weather and time of year, but it would be beautiful in summer.

The service was amazing and absolutely hassle-free - we never even met our hosts in person, who left us a message on the office whiteboard to make ourselves at home and let them know if we needed anything. The heaters were all on when we arrived so the house was lovely and toasty just as it started to drizzle. We helped ourselves to a selection of DVDs from the office and settled in for a cosy evening.

The kitchen facilities were basic but more than enough to self-cater for a couple of nights if you wanted to - basic cooktop, fridge, microwave etc. Lovely comfortable bed and beautiful furnishings.

The Treetops Chalet is at the end of the property and very private, with a lovely outlook to rolling hills on one side and bush on the other. The spa was also such a luxury - nestled into the bush. Only thing was the number of moths that came to have a look when we were in the spa - not something that can really be helped, and we probably could have avoided it by leaving less outside lights on.

Raglan itself (10-15 minutes drive from Hidden Valley) is also a great place for a relaxing break - even during the low season, there are plenty of nice cafes to choose from and arty shops to wander around.

It is so easy to get to from Auckland (max 2 hours). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hidden Valley and hope we get to visit again soon!

Thank you coming to stay with us at Hidden valley and for taking the trouble to leave a review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the break away here and you got to relax away from the busy and rushed pace of life theses days! The moths can be a nuisance, the only solution to cut them down is to turn off as much light in the Chalet as possible. I saw an amazing huge moth there this morning the size of a small bird! The Kahikatea forest is a haven for the birds and insects and so few of these native forests around here these days. I hope we can see you back here for a return visit , Cheers Sue

We have just had a very relaxing mid-week stay at Hidden Valley Retreat and it was just what we needed. The 2 storied chalet looked to have been recently redecorated in a very tasteful manner. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean and anything you might possibly want was there. There was bush nearby as well as a delightful paddock of sheep and newborn lambs.
The chalet was down a drive, past the owners house and then another chalet. Very peaceful.
You will need a car as the property is approx 10 mins out of Raglan.
Raglan is a lovely inner harbour town with nearby surf beaches. Park your car and walk around to enjoy the Bohemian atmosphere and all the delightful cafes. The waterfall is worth the short drive.
