Detailed Reviews
This holiday park is in a great location, right off the beach and very close to all the restaurants/shops in the centre of Ragland. Ragland as a town is definitely worth visiting as it is a cool vibrant surf town.
However, few things let the site down. Firstly, you require a key card to activate the showers (to ensure the general public don't use them). This is fine, however they do not state anywhere these showers are timed and I got cut short half-way through washing my hair. I am perfectly happy to only have a 5 minute shower, as most other campsites in NZ provide, but this needs to be stated in the bathroom.
Also - the campsite feels slightly like a graveyard for caravans as you are surrounded by tired, old caravans with awnings. Although this may have been because we visited at the end of the season, it seemed they hadn't been used for a long time.

We were here for 5 nights from boxing day 2020.
This holiday park is a well oilled machine. All facilities and amenities are clean and tidy. The place is silent from quiet time which shows they are obviously known for enforcing the rules. And they have 3 security guards on duty every night.
All the bathrooms are completely cleaned twice a day. Kitchen has numerous sinks and gas hobs for cooking, as well as a number of fridges to keep things in. You can hire a locked fridge freezer and hire plates and bowls pots etc if you have nothing. So they cater from the beginner camper to the glampers.
The access card is needed for the showers which limit hot water to 5 mins. You can activate 2 side by side if the girls go together or boys together. Also needed to get your vehicle on and off site. They tell you all this on check in. Staff really friendly and informative.
A very family friendly campground. The bouncy pillow is popular and over the xmas period they run daily kids activities.
Powered sites are huge. There are all a number of cabins if you dont want to tent. It's a quick walk across the reserve and over the foot bridge into town. When its busy it's actually quicker to walk into town instead of queuing at the one lane bridge
Highly recommend a stay here

This is a reasonably pleasant campground but feels as if it’s stuck a little in the past. It’s very regimented. Even in winter when there are plenty of free sites you’re told where to park and can’t choose for yourself. You’re only given one card to get in and out of the campground as well as for using the shower, and the free wifi is very limited. The sites are laid out in long rows with few trees and no other planting. There’s no view and you’re surrounded by lots of permanent vans. This is where shabby, old caravans come to live out the rest of their lives. The facilities are getting old but are clean. The location is handy for the town and beach but otherwise there’s not a great deal to tempt you back. At $48 a night, it’s quite dear in contrast to plenty of other holiday parks that give you a lot more.

We just had one night here but were extremely impressed by the accomodation we'd booked. The studio unit was near new, in excellent condition, very quiet and warm, and within easy walking distance of the township. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful.

This is a great camping ground with good facilities, and is very popular with families.
The biggest problem we experienced was the showers. You need a swipe card to turn on the 3 minute shower timer (and you can't reactivate the shower for another 3 minutes once the timer is up). There was virtually no hot water when we tried to shower, so we ended up having a very short cold shower. Considering the fact that you forgo a lot of the luxuries of home while you're camping, showers that don't work properly are a big let-down on a camping holiday.
Apart from that I'd recommend this campground.

Nice and close to town, pretty clean facilities, strange shower system, only get one swipe card for a couple? Could get a second swipe card for $5 dollars but since we are on a budget we decided to just share a shower. Also, shower only lasts 3 minutes. Now when there are 2 of you sharing 1 shower, 3 minutes doesn't quite cut it. However if you move between shower cubicles every 3 minutes you can have unlimited hot showers and it's a great way to meet the neighbours!

Friendly welcome. Good facilities; plenty of toilets/showers, large kitchen and covered outdoor seating areas.
Tent sites are allocated - unfortunately some of the tent-sites don't have very good grass coverage; a lot of large sandy/muddy patches. Others looked nice and grassy.
Showers are activated by your campground access card so if you have a mix of male and female in your group you cannot shower at the same time.
Footbridge walk to town is handy.

Everything was OK. Very clean shared bathroom, with 4 minutes free hot water shower using Guest Card, shared kitchen was good with plenty of cold storage and ovens. Many dinner tables outside and BBQ under the roof. Enter and leaving the park through electronic gate with guest card. Only our nice overnight stay tainted with old grumpy man, a guest at non powered tent Lot 165, when we were have normal talk, not whispering, but not also shouting at 7.55pm, he was madly shouting to us "SHUT UP" several times. We cannot choose the our neighbor, as well as the Park cannot choose the guest, but it just bad luck for us have such grumpy old man close to our site. Just to let you know the park's noise restriction is after 10.30 pm.

Stayed at this holiday park several times. Tried everything from a car space with a tent, small cabin and a studios with own facilities and will be returning again. The manger Julie is super lovely and made sure we are comfortable and looked after. The location is excellent with only 5 or so minutes to the city centre by crossing the bridge next to the park or if you wanted a stroll on a beach, the access is right by the field. There ar3 lots of activities for kids, fishing as the boat access to the oceana the door step as well. It's a 5-10min drive to the famous beaches and surf breaks. Lookong forward to our next stay and big thanks to all the staff who looked after us.

Love this camping ground, excellent location and facilities. Best one we’ve visited. But the cleanliness needs addressing. Bathrooms are not cleaned frequently and are often stuffy and smelly. Walls covered in grime, floors unclean and basins are slimy and scummy. Not once in my four day stay did I see them receive a thorough clean or smell any cleaning product. I do understand it’s difficult with accommodation such as this but it is one area that really needs improving.

Hello Sheree
I was a traveller passing through staying two nights. You would have to contact the place directly to get an answer.
The surf breaks are 10 to 20 minutes away. Toilet blocks, kitchen, etc are cleaned every day. The facilities are not new but are in very good condition and kept clean.
The holiday park is certainly family friendly, though with a group that big, I would suggest booking well in advance, raglan has limited accommodation options. They have a range of options from camping, motor home sites, to units of different sizes. I don't think there is a pool. There is likely a BBQ area, though we did not investigate as we only stayed one night. Awesome playground very close by. Playground suitable from young toddlers through to teenager/adults. Hope that helps!
Elise
