The Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort has garnered mixed reviews from guests. While the relaxed atmosphere and natural setting are often appreciated, travelers have had varied experiences with room comfort. The resort's amenities, including family-friendly activities and water sports, are popular, though some guests find them crowded or outdated.
Service quality fluctuates, with commendations for attentiveness contrasting reports of sluggish service and cleanliness concerns. Although the location's remoteness is a drawback for some, it offers a unique charm that others value. Nonetheless, the resort's overall value is frequently questioned, as high costs seem to overshadow the quality of service and amenities for many visitors.

Have just had a very enjoyable 4 night stay at Novotel. Looking at some of the reviews here, they do not reflect our experience. Over-all, my impressions were good, but I will start with the things that could do with improvement. Some of the outsides of the buildings are starting to look old and rusted and could do with a fix up. Was hard at first to find our way about - and the correct carpark to use, but once I got my bearings it was never a problem, and there was always adequate parking. The room was comfortable, though the air-conditioning was audible (but greatly appreciated as it was quite hot outside!). The layout of the room is a bit odd in that there is a big window-like space in between the corridor and bedroom - this is problematic if someone is going to the toilet in the night because the light for the bathroom also turns on the corridor light! For the bedroom, there was only the bedside lamp and no lighting installed in the ceiling. This made the room very dark as the trees outside blocked out a lot of outside light. I thought the vacuuming could have been a bit more vigorously done, and we found the bath looked a little inadequately cleaned when we first checked in. A quick call to reception for things needed - fresh towels, replenishment of shower gel - were promptly attended to. The grounds were very impressive and the wildlife (kangaroo and joey, ibises, bush turkeys...) were cool to see. We enjoyed the walk from our room to the restaurant for breakfast each morning. The trees and gardens made a good impression and reminded us of tropical holidays we have had. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of food. It was filling and satisfying - kept us going most of the day. Sometimes though, it felt like the staff were too quick to clear plates, as if they were trying to hurry us along. While we didn't use the lagoon or water sports, it looked popular and well used by guests. Getting lounger in the shade wasn't always easy, there was plenty of space, and we enjoyed swimming in the pool each day. One side of it does need a good scrub as it is looking dirty though. Being school holidays, there were a lot of children of course, but we thought it might be a good idea if a section of the pool was set aside for adults to be able to swim more freely in. The hot spa was also nice to relax in. All in all, we had a great time, the beds were comfortable, and we were able to spend a relaxing few days exploring the area.

Given the resort was close to fully booked for the school holidays an upgrade from a standard room to a king room with lagoon view was a welcome surprise.
Half the resort rooms have had an upgrade/refurb to the light colour pallet that’s becoming common at Novotel. Ours wasn’t renovated but a kitchette, two person spa and extra space was still great to have.
These rooms can accommodate two adults and a child comfortably. They have A four person dining table and kitchenette which includes microwave, toaster and bar size fridge. There is no stove or hot plate.
This hotel has also resumed the “conservation credits” system. It allows you to forgo housekeeping in exchange for a $15 F&B credit. There’s no overall limit but you can only claim for a maximum of two consecutive days.
On the down side, the housekeeping on every third day was poor. On one day it didn’t happen until almost 1900hrs and consisted of a quick change of towels and make the bed. At a beach location, I would have hoped housekeeping would include vacuuming as it can get sandy.
Having stayed here several times and most recently in 2019 it was great to see some long serving staff retained through covid. However, the bar and daytime cafe staff seemed to struggle when it became busy in our second week. They were disorganised, slow and generally didn’t offer a good customer experience.
School holiday bonus activities included a petting zoo (rabbits, goats, lambs etc), cup cake decorating, and gin tasting for parents (conveniently on at the same time as cupcakes). No additional charge for any of these.
Even outside holidays this hotel is geared for children/families. There’s no additional charge for the catamarans, kayaks or other scheduled activities like fish feeding and beach games.
I’m guessing this might have been their first time back at full capacity since Covid lockdowns and some areas like housekeeping and the bar staff were either under resourced, out of practice, or both. But even so, it was an enjoyable stay and I’d recommend it for families.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
My experience at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort was a mix of highs and lows during the recent Farm Owners Conference. Let's break it down.
Firstly, the location and overall facilities were decent. The resort grounds were well-maintained, and the conference facilities were adequate for our needs. It was convenient having everything in one place for the conference sessions.
However, the accommodation left much to be desired. The room I stayed in was frankly disappointing. It was not up to the standard I expected from a Novotel. The cleanliness was subpar, and there were issues that made the room less than comfortable.
One of the highlights, surprisingly, was the gala dinner night. Despite my dietary restrictions not being properly communicated, there was a gentleman named Khan who went above and beyond to assist me. He ensured I got a suitable meal, despite it not being on the dietary list. Khan's kindness and helpfulness stood out and made the evening much more enjoyable.
On the other hand, the experience at Sola Bar was a letdown. The menu options were limited, and the quality of the food was disappointing. Most items seemed to be frozen and deep-fried, which was not what I expected from a place associated with a resort of this caliber.
Overall, while the conference itself was productive and the resort had its positives, such as the beautiful location and dedicated staff like Khan, improvements are needed in certain areas like room cleanliness and food quality at the bar.

We recently stayed at Novotel Sunshine Coast between the 3rd and 9th of Jan 2024. The location and amenities are great and most of the staff are helpful. We are a family of four, including a 2 year old and a 9 week old. We explained this when making our booking and were provided a room on the first floor with no help to take luggage, pram or children up. The resort isn't wheelchair/pram friendly, nor do they have options to cater for those on the first floor. The room we were provided with had paint peeling off the wall and had a damp smell to it. After night one, requested for a room change to the ground floor for the ease of our children and pram. This was accepted with the condition that we vacated the current room within 10 minutes. A tough ask, even for those without two children. When we were relocated the new ground floor room, it still had a slight damp smell but all paintwork was in order. The issue we had throughout our stay however was the cleaning (or lack thereof). For our entire 5 day stay in our new room, the sheets were never replaced, the floors were never vacuumed or moped, the bathrooms continued to have wet towels left in the corner (they did replace them daily, however didn't take the old ones), there wasn't a toilet brush provided and every day the toilet was never cleaned. There were used crockery and cutlery left behind, we even moved them to the floor next to the bin so housekeeping could take a hint and they were still left behind with clean bins!? After being absent from the room for well over 7 hours one day, we returned around 6pm and found the beds hadn't been made and the door was left open. I'm unsure how long the room was left open to anyone. After lodging a complaint we were provided with a $60 credit, however for a resort that claims to hold a 4 star rating, we expected much more. Rather disappointing and would not recommend.

I wasn't going to write a review but since we have tried to ring and absolutely no answer to discuss this I've decided to write one. The reception experience fell short of expectations, lacking courtesy and attention to detail. Despite notifying them of our late arrival, we were informed that our room wouldn't be ready until 2 pm, even though we had prepaid for that night. Additionally, there was no apology for the inconvenience caused, nor acknowledgment of the mistake in assigning us a room intended for another guest with the same last name. It wasn't until we scrutinized the details that we realized the error in our reservation.
Additionally, weekends at the establishment seemed overrun with children, lacking supervision as evident by their behavior around the pool area. The limited dinner menu and remote location from nearby amenities added to the inconvenience, requiring transportation for dining options.
The food is limited but all meals were lovely. Cocktails by all staff are consistent and very well made.
The lake walk was our highlight and the pool was clean.
Furthermore, the restricted room servicing hours between 1 pm and 4 o'clock posed challenges, especially for guests who had utilized towels and desired a shower after swimming or other activities.
While the resort may cater well to families seeking a kid-friendly environment, it falls short for those seeking a tranquil, adult-oriented getaway. Considering these aspects, returning to this establishment is unlikely, unless catering to families or group gatherings.

Initial impressions on arrival were good. Good reception, nice room, picturesque setting. When we began to use the facilities, however, the wheels began to fall off. Firstly, there is little to no assistance for elderly or handicapped guests. The large pool has one handrail going into the water. The showers have no safety rail at all. This made showering very risky for me as a 72 yr old. We then decided to have dinner at the only restaurant SOLA. You go to a mini reception where you are handed a paper menu and asked to order at the counter. Inside is spartan with nothing on the tables. There is absolutely NO table service anywhere in the resort, so you have to go outside to the bar to order drinks then bring them back to the table. When our meals arrived my wife asked the server if she could have some water. He told her she could get it herself from the bar area. ( foods getting cold) The quality of the food was BELOW school canteen, but was EXPENSIVE. I had a battered flathead with chips $25. All there was on my plate was batter. When I complained to the mini reception person who took my order, she said nothing. I waited for a response, but received not a word. No apology. No nothing. Of course they have already charged for the meal, so you’ve lost the money. No managers anywhere to complain to. Just a young girl who cannot make a decision on what to do. Incidentally, my wife’s meal was appalling also. If there is a Food and Beverage Manager at the resort, Novotel needs to have a quiet word because that’s not what anybody expects when staying in a (so called) luxury resort. Overall we would give Novotel Twin Waters a 2.5 Star rating. It feels like it’s in its death throws, looking at every way to save a dollar.

Older resort with beautiful manicured grounds, very picturesque around the lake, with pretty good facilities. One large restaurant that does an impressive buffet breakfast, meals however were a bit hit and miss.
A few ‘executive’ rooms have been refurbished (in addition to the new over water bungalows) although most rooms and suits are VERY dated, run down and smell musty. Suites are suitable for families, but if you don’t need lots of space make sure you ask for a new room!
Customer service was amazing! Staff went out of their way to fix a few issues that popped up.
Cleanliness/housekeeping services TERRIBLE. Bed was only half made one day, no fresh face washers or hand towels provided, mugs & spoons were not washed up or replaced, floors were not clean (I don’t think they had even been vacuumed judging by the amount of hair and dirt especially in the bathroom), outside table had food scraps all over it and patio had not been cleaned. No bottles of water provided at all (not even to buy!). And room service meals were served with disposable wooden cutlery. Seriously?! You don’t get much for $400/night these days (and that’s with an Accor member discount!).
Would I stay here again? NO. Would I recommended someone else stay here? NO. A shame because the staff were all so nice!

Attended a wedding and stayed for a few days. The room (for 3) wasn’t big enough for us to walk around the beds, the internet didn’t work and therefore the television was blank. The pool which is awesome, was patrolled so heavily by security, if you forgot to wear your arm band in the pool areas, you either had to go get it, or leave immediately. Midgees biting us all weekend! The lake smells and needs to be aerated. The wedding cake wasn’t handed out at the reception as requested therefore went to waste. The wedding guests had to walk from the ceremony to the reception across the other side of the lake, in heels and finery, in the heat. The buffet breakfast which was absolutely delicious, was entertaining as we watched large cockroaches running across the walls and room dividers, as it’s all open plan. I actually wrote a complaint and was “pacified” by a gentleman who offered us a reduced rate return stay. Tried contacting him after a few months and no one would return my calls or numerous emails. So no, we are not impressed by this resort. Looks lovely in photos. In reality, it’s sub standard in attention to detail, and the service is non existent.

I recently had a terrible experience at Novotel Sunshine Coast and I feel compelled to share it. We booked our stay on their website, which clearly stated that payment was to be made at the hotel. We traveled nearly 3 hours from the Gold Coast, arriving on Christmas Day, only to face an incredibly frustrating situation.
Upon arrival, we realized we had forgotten our physical card. However, we were fully prepared to pay using our phones and had proof of identity through our ID cards and bank app. Despite this, the hotel staff refused to accept our payment, citing their policy against phone payments. This was the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
The staff showed no willingness to troubleshoot the situation. When we asked for the manager, the acting manager on duty was extremely rude, even though we were traveling with a toddler. We tried booking through a different party, but the prices were double the price! The hotel staff could have easily helped us resolve this issue, but they showed zero care or flexibility.
I would strongly advise against staying at Novotel Sunshine Coast, especially if you value decent customer service. Our Christmas Day was ruined due to the rude and unhelpful management. Avoid this place at all costs!
