I stayed at vatia beach resort for three days. The first day i got there at night so wasnt really that excited cause its quite far in from the main road. And i couldnt see anything as the quality of lights is very low. But the staff was extremely nice and i got a warm meal right away. The mornings are absolutely amazing. You are awaken by the birds chirping and cool fresh air. You can hear the beautiful ocean as its only a few feet away from the rooms. The staff cooked me anything i wanted for breakfast lunch and dinner. They have a variety of fruit trees around vatia. So i got to eat fresh mangoes and papaya. Theres a swing right by the ocean so you can swing and watch the best sunset ever. Vatia also has an earthship biotexture. I would go in there to charge my phone and just relax. The staff arent nosy. You get all the privacy you want. But if you wanted to talk, they are genuinely interested in what you have to say. Specially the manager donald. He is very caring and makes sure your stay is enjoyable. They have a small kitchen in the front so you can make tea or coffee. Since they are on solar power its best to do everything in the day as lights go out around 10. I definitely would stay there again. The place kinda grows on you and you will be in tears when its time for you to leave. Your money will be well spent at this place.

Once.you negotiate the 3k windy potholed narrow dirt road in off the highway, you will be blown away by the serenity if this small enterprising local venture. As always, the people are adorably friendly and welcoming and we had a freshly cooked meal and a few beers and a swim.
The beach itself us nothing flash.

Initial impression of Vatai Beach Eco Lodge is that it needs a lot of work to upgrade, but the price reflects this. Currently they have a good cook and the fresh fish with garlic sauce is fantastic. Hut style accommodation with shared toilets and cold showers. Great spot to lounge in hammocks, and the best is the access 2 km+ by boat, to the coral reef for snorkeling at a reasonable price and our weekend bonus was heading out to the coral reef at night and swimming in a sandy lagoon while the local guy went off with a torch and spear gun looking for sharks. The night sky of stars, (minus the moon) was breathtakingly spectacular. Fish fly at night in the torch light with one landing in the boat!!. This is a gem spot that hopefully will get better if plans to tidy and upgrade come off but well worth the effort to get there especially in fabulous sunshine. Owner is very helpful organizing transport once you get to Ba or Tavua on the local bus.

Vatia Beach was a really nice surprice. Yummy and affordable menu and nice tidy and neat rooms. Hosted by super friendly spanish guys, Vatia is a peacefully place right on the beach in the north of viti levu just 90 minutes away from the airport. Get the kayak to Nukuvovo island when the tide is high and explore the inner channels was awesome or just read a book on the front beach bure. Super good food quality

Everyone who is wondering where to stay on Viti Levu - this place should be it. We had 5 great days on Vatia Point. It's going to become an amazing eco resort. Edu is a super nice and chilled guy and we had a wonderful time. They are growing their own organic vegetables in their garden. In the following month an earthship will be built next to the bungalows. The food is really good but they also have a bbq place where you can grill your own stuff if you want to. We can 100% recommend this lovely place.

“The road in is very rough, a rocky bush track for the last 2kms. The property is very basic with solar powered lights and cold bore water showers. It is not for people with physical disabilities as the paths and stair are very rough and uneven. We took the two units with ensuite bath rooms (3 adults and three children) extra bed $30 each per night was a foam mattress squeezed onto the floor, the second night we took an extra room which was $60 (no ensuite) which was a bit more comfy. Breakfast was included, and was excellent pancakes with fresh pawpaw/watermelon. Lunch and dinner meals were discussed and agreed on. Fish and potatoes with a tomato/carrot slaw and chicken curry and rice, tasty well cooked simple food. Do not expect a menu or choice. The grandkids loved it, table tennis, volley ball swimming and a fire on the beach. A real adventure. There was coolish beer, but only 4 stubbies because "the truck hadn't come" . Better next day when it did! Second night was cold, only a sheet and light throw so we were all cold most of the night. A great adventure for the young and fit. Not so good for elderly Nanas!”

I booked this place after reading reviews in November. When I made my trip in December, it was nothing like the description or the pictures. The road to this place is really narrow and it brought thoughts of Wrong Turn to my mind. Should have turned back then; but we persisted.

It was the holidays and it seemed everyone from Tavua/Ba had swarmed to this beach. We thought, lets wait for the crowd to dissipate before deciding whether we like this place or not. The crowd left and left behind their garbage and dirty washrooms. One walk across the resort ground [we were to camp in our tent] and we made a u-turn.

Its a shame though, this place could be really great - so much improvement needed.

Response from Vatia B, Guest Relations Manager at Vatia Beach Eco Resort
Responded 16 Jan 2016
Bula Shai Janif, We really appreciate your review. Here at Vatia Beach we take very seriously customer’s feedback. And we strongly believe that only with the help from our guests, we can make our boutique eco-tourism a better place. We are working hard to improve the access to this hidden gem by building a new road without help from the local government. As you can imagine it is not a simple task and it will definitely take us some time. However I can assure you that a substantial part of our funds is being re-invested in the construction and repair of the existing infrastructure to facilitate an easier access to this beautiful and untouched area of the sun coast. Our neighbours will also get the benefit of better roads and being able to contribute with the local community makes us extremely happy. You are also correct about day visitors during the holidays. We have implemented new rules to control this and ensure the place remains always clean and tidy. We look forward to host you in the near future. Hopefully this time you decide to stay with us and your family will experience the real Vatia Beach!! Again thanks for taking the time to write a review and please send us an email (info@vatiabeach.com) if there is anything else we can do for you. Vinakavakalevu, The Vatia Beach Team

We stayed at Vatia for 4 nights in a small villa with our own toilet and shower. Its like glamour camping and rather cute. The units are close together but I didn't mind that at all.as it felt cosy.
As the lights go off at 10ish everyone is asleep and its lovely and quiet. We slept really well there
The sunsets are beautiful, the food is very affordable as is the wifi. This small eco lodge is a work in progress and will over the years develop into something much bigger.

Its hard to find value for money in Fiji and Vatia is one of those places that is.
The staff are really lovely, La and her hard working husband Peter along with Donald and Eduardo.

Keep up with the great work and we will be back.......to see how you are going

No idea we were coming, no Internet, no breakfast, lunch or dinner facilities. No garden to pick from as described. Virtually we had a room with roof and flushing toilet, no running water for shower. We were provided with hot water urn for cup of tea, which we supplied. Not the place for a diabetic. Avoid unless you are set up for a camp site. Photos are old from when it was running properly. New Managers were very nice, but no idea of what they should be doing.

Answer from Vatia B
Nadi, Fiji1 contribution
Hi Maryssa, Thanks your inquiry. The airport transfer is not included in the room fare. We use our partners from fijitransfers to provide this service at an additional fee. Alternatively we recommend catching a taxi all the way from the international airport to Vatia Beach. Cost is approximately $120-$130 FJD. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Kind Regards, Vatia Beach Team.
