We froze as there were no extra blankets and all the bed had on it was a sheet and a skinny little synthetic cover on it.It was winter when we stayed. Smoke alarms were open with no batteries. The bathroom is just a hallway off the bedroom, so you are stuck in the bedroom if someone is in the shower. There were no bedside tables, in fact the bedroom was akin to a prison cell, two beds, fullstop. No kitchen sink for cups, disgusting to think we had to use the toilet sink for that. The stairs leading to the top floor were very narrow and poorly lit. All in all, we had an awful night. For the price I would have expected so much more. Not happy.

Response from NZRayW, Manager at The Country Inn
Responded 11 Jun 2015
We were very disappointed to receive your email. We endeavour to make every guests stay pleasurable. The Management would have responded immediately to your concerns if you had come to our reception and let us know the shortcomings you were experiencing. You could have sat in our Snug Room with the log fire going or in our lovely air conditioned restaurant, while we attended to any issues with your room. It is very difficult to do that if we have no knowledge of it. You stayed in a Studio Unit which consists of tea/coffee making facilities only. We can only imagine you have not stayed in many studio units before as they are of a similar layout. Our complex also contains full kitchen units if this is what you require. Extra blankets would have been provided if requested. Staff would have attended to that immediately. We may have fallen short of your very high standard but the management and staff endeavour to keep all our units exceptionally clean and tidy. Regards Management & Staff P.S. We are highly disappointed you didn't come to us first - before you went to Trip Advisor.

We stayed at the Ramarama Country Inn in South Auckland. The host Bonnie looked after us very well. Staying over Christmas was fun because Boonie put on a large christmas meal for her family and guests.

Our rooms were very nicely furnished and suprisingly large. The swimming pool was very well utilised. We enjoyed our stay at Ramarama Country Inn and plan to return there.

Did not stay there had our Staff Xmas Luncheon recently. 15 of us for a BBQ it was really well done. Lots of food and well presented as a small buffet then a choice of 3 desserts. Staff were really helpful and served us with care and attention. The menu looked good actually so we think we will try it some day soon for lunch or dinner. The new management are trying hard to build it back as a pleasant venue so great to see people going local and enjoying it!!

Ramarama is centrally located if your after accommodation away from the hustle & bustle of the city, this is the place to come to, to enjoy open space & fresh clean air. Rooms are very affordable, tidy, comfy beds & great pressure on the showers. House keeping were very pleasant & accomodated to our needs. We stayed on the top floor in the back units, I would suggest that the lighting could be abit brighter to the rooms as we checked in late & couldn't navigate in the dark. The sensor light seems abit slow when reaching the stairs, this could cause a major hazard for our kaumătua. I'm not sure if directions to the rooms are given upon Checking in, but maybe a unit guide can be attached to the keys so guests can find their rooms if checking in late at night.
Would have liked to have seen some information on the Restaurant/Bar hours in the rooms, again maybe this is given at Check in during the day. We had an iron but no ironing board, made use of the Bench closest to the cupboard that the iron was in 😉
Definitely need a WiFi expander. Overall our hosts Becs & Quintin were fabulous, we throughly enjoyed our stay & have no hesitation in recommending our whănau & friends here.

I hate writing bad reviews, but given that I hugely regret booking this motel and my concerns have not been addressed by the motel despite trying to settle them directly, I have no choice.

I paid on arrival and was directed to my motel room.

The motel grounds were unsightly and unkept - it looked nothing like it did on their website. I even struggle to comprehend how it can be the same place and wondered if it was being used as emergency housing.

When I got to my room, it was unlocked (as were all windows) and I was being suspiciously watched by neighbouring residents.

There was rubbish in the bin from the previous guest, the shower was filthy, the carpet had not been vacuumed, there was dirt and hair on the lino flooring and on the toilet cistern, the walls in the room and bathroom were soiled, there was hair (and what looked like pubic hair) on the top of the white bedding and the shower blocked after running for only a few minutes to the point of overflowing if I had not cut my shower short.

After only showering in the room, I ended up packing my stuff, leaving the motel and finding alternative accomodation at my own cost as the office was already shut.

On my return home I realised that I had also been overcharged - $140, instead of $130.

I emailed the motel manager the following week explaining my concerns about the state of the room, not feeling safe, being overcharged and not staying in the room - with no reply whatsoever.

Would NOT book this property again.

We had dinner at the restaurant on a Wednesday evening when we were the only party in the entire restaurant. Our waitress was unable to serve us a cup of coffee or a pot of tea. She told us she didn't know where these were because she was new. This is probably more of a reflection on the management to allow such a green waitress to without support in the restaurant. After she served our plates, she disappeared to the bar area where she got busy serving drinks..
Two of the steaks were overcooked to the point that they were inedible. I had to track down the waitress to get them to fix this problem. Later we found out that the chef was also new.
If you do not have the right people to operate your restaurant, you should not open it, and definitely not take a reservation a day in advance.

We had an 80th birthday here and the only thing positive about it was the meal. We booked 7 rooms with them and as far as we knew 3 of the rooms had no batteries in the smoke alarms. In 1 of the 3 rooms the battery was going flat and we told told them about, they came and took it out, but never returned with a new battery. In the room that I stayed in every time someone had a shower the water would go all over the bathroom floor. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND STAYING HERE as everyone but the chef treated us as they could not be bothered.

Hi Klayton, This sounds terrible and we sincerely apologise for this. We have done inspection on all rooms for batteries as this is a health and safety issue. Of all rooms, two of them had no batteries, taken away from previous guests. We have implemented internal processes now where the cleaners are to ensure batteries are in there at all times. Please let us know, when you can, which room had the shower problem and we will tend to that. All our showers have proper curtains to block water and we also have a floor towel to put in front of the shower for when the floors are wet as guests walk out. Call us on 09 294 8320 if you have any further questions. Thank you. Country Inn Management.

I'll start from the beginning. We were attending a wedding and there was a group of us who booked accomodation through the website. We booked 3 months in advance. One of the group received a call to say that they were changing the rooms we booked because there was a big group wanting to stay, she told them to ring us to check that it was ok with us... no phone call received. So I ring up a few days later and the person who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about and after telling me 3 different things told us we were in a cabin instead and that it was cheaper than our original booking. Maybe we wanted to pay extra for a nicer room? The big day arrived and we checked in, paid and got our room key. Got to our room the it was occupied for other guests... ummm ok. We went back to reception and advised them to be told oh well we are fully booked soo you can just wait until we contact those guests. Half an hour later I ring up to be told we have moved you to cabin 3. The room is very basic, no remote for the tv, the dining chair you can't sit in, it would collapse, only 2 pillows and very dated. We booked in advance, they stuffed us around, we nearly didn't have anywhere to stay, it was cheap, dated, overpriced and they don't know what they are doing.

A true gem of a restaurant. Having a amazing dining experience is not always about going to one of NZs top restaurants. A truckie friend was staying here so we decided to meet up for dinner. YUMMY!!!! Service was friendly and fun. Food was beautiful (try the steak). Finishing with the sticky date pudding that made you go Ahhhhh. Well worth the drive to go here.

We have just returned back home from the Ramarama Country Inn Restaurant.
We decided to try it out tonight as we are locals and saw a decent write up on our local paper.
Food and service were faultless, excellent food, excellent quality and great presentation.
We will return son with family and friends.
Keep it up guys.
