Came here to hire a kayak, 2 paddle boards and a snorkel set between 4 of us. The service was fantastic and super chilled. Prices are really good by the hour. The owner Leigh was friendly and welcoming and even helped cart the gear down to the water. The equipment was pretty new so great condition. We had a fantastic day for it with beautiful conditions and clear water, the bay is stunning so incredible value for money. If I ever come back to great barrier island will definitely be booking in at sunset for our stay too.

We spent a week at the Lodge in a 1 bedroom studio unit facing out to the bay. Everything we needed was already there, the kitchen had been really well set up with obviously a lot of thought gone into utensils, crockery, cooking equipment and glasswsare so all eventualities were covered. Two bbqs available for guests to use which we did make use of.. Leigh and Lynley were both very helpful with advice and recommendations on things to do, places to go, availability of places to dine etc. Very friendly and helpful but not in your face. Well located in Mulberry Grove and opposite a very swimmable bay and beach. The sunsets were spectacular and our room and patio was in a prime position to enjoy them. For those that need there is wifi and you can connect to your Netflix or UTube account as well. We had a wonderful time and can't recommend Leigh, Lynley and the Sunset Waterfront Lodge enough.

As a group of 5 we were not sure what to expect of the Sunset Waterfront Lodge as this was our first trip across to the Gt Barrier Island however we found it to be a fantastic place to stay. The hosts Lynley and Leigh couldnt do enough for us and made our stay very enjoyable. We had 2 rooms which were extremely comfortable, well appointed, and had great views out to the waterfront. We found that they had plenty of "water toys" available however the weather didnt co-operate for us to use the paddle boards or kayaks on this occasion. Maybe next time because we will be back. The store and cafe are next door and the restaurants are not far away. Overall we really enjoyed our short stay on the Island and would recommend the Sunset waterfront Lodge as a great place to stay.

What a lovely place to stay! We stayed here for 3 nights during Christmas! The Villa was so cosy , tidy and equipped with things that we need. The lodge is located not far from the ferry wharf. There is a store and cafe next by. Just takes a minute to walk to playground &beach and enjoy magnificent view. Board games ,some sport equipments and TV are available for guests to use in the function room. The highlight of this lodge is the hosts are so kind , friendly and helpful. Thank you Lynley and Leigh. We are so appreciated your help, helped us get a rental car during this busy season, and informed us a beautiful beach for snorkeling, we had a wonderful time in Great Barrier Island. We hope we could come back to stay soon. Thank you so much!

The location is amazing. We opened our curtains to the most amazing beach each morning. The hosts(Leigh & Lynley) couldnt have done more for our group of 12 people. Nothing was too difficult. This Lodge was purchased about 18months ago by them and they are slowly doing it up. When you go to the Barrier though you dont expect 5 star luxury - for what we paid we thought it was excellent value for money. The beds super comfortable and the property was very clean and well kept. Yes we would go back again and i would take another group there in a heartbeat. Although they dont have a pool they have the biggest one across the road - that is the beautiful beach

This is a brilliant wee place to stay - it's an older style lodge/motel however the owners have spruced it up a lot. The kitchen/bathroom facilities are reasonably basic but the beds are really comfy as are the lounge seats and the chairs/table outside. The biggest selling point however are the awesome hosts and the brilliant location. Leigh and Lynley are super accommodating and really go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The bay is immediately over the road and kayaks are available for use ( we had an amazing experience of kayaking with a school of bay hammerhead sharks!) Totally recommend you stay :)

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Sunset Waterfront Lodge was the perfect place to stay. Friendly and hospitable hosts, exceptionally clean and brand new beds and have lots of extras to offer you. Paddle boards, kayaks, etc. If you want to do nothing, if you want to explore, walks, beaches, hot pools, if you want to fish, dive or surf, it has it all. Highly recommend.

Good location. Few things to do for kids. Was keen to get out for a fish but unfortunately there is a Rahui in place. Unfortunately the towels and rubbish are not changed everyday. Recycling and composting is though. Nothing fancy but good for a roof over your head. Wifi was ok. The owner guy is friendly.
