This place really is just superb. The photos (while impressive) really don't do it justice-the pool, grounds and setting are just incredible and the accommodation itself is traditional in style, but excellent and INCREDIBLY clean and well presented. The breakfast is superb, varied and plentiful, and the location just fantastic, being 1 kilometre from Montichiello and very close to Pienza, Montepulciano, and pretty much all the highlights of Val D'Orcia. But what really sets this place apart is the welcome of the family. Maura and her son Nicholas looked after us as if we were family and made us feel so at home. They showed our daughter their animals which she loved, gave advice, made reservations and there was no question we had that they couldn't answer helpfully and professionally. Some places you stay are slick and professional, but without soul. Some are very personable but a bot rough around the edges. But this family get the balance EXACTLY right-super friendly and genuine whilst always being completely professional. I don't often write reviews, but this place really is just the BEST, so I felt I had to. Thank you Maura and all the family.

The owners, Maura and Virno, were very kind and clearly hardworking. The pool seemed lovely but the weather did not cooperate. We were disappointed to not be able to have dinner there for the three nights we stayed because they were leaving on holiday.

We are a family of 4 and stayed here for 5 nights and it was the best part of our trip to Italy. First as all the reviews say, the owners are fantastic. They are eager to make your stay there very happy and Maura’s cooking is wonderful. We had one room for the older kids and a separate room for us. The rooms were sparkling clean and just perfect. The pool is just steps away. No matter what photos you take of the beautiful scenery from this Agriturismo, they never live up to the beauty of the actual landscapes. It is truly lovely. The two towns nearby are just wonderful. Visitors come back and back to this wonderful Agriturismo. We met one couple who have been back several times. Because our stay in Italy was fairly long, with Maura’s help, we found a laundry in Nearby Piensa and then used Maura’s clothesline to dry everything. Lastly, I was surprised at the lovely breezes we had here. While all of Italy was very hot, we had breezes here to help keep us cool. One thing that is not mentioned is that there is a very nice and fairly large common room where we made and ate our lunch. So we were able to go to the local Coop in Piensa and bring back lunch items for the next day. All kept cool in the frig. until ready to be used. Many restaurants are also around for dinner etc. In our view, look no further...this is a very special place to stay!

Maura and Virno and their sons are so welcoming and kind. For breakfast we had Maura's homemade yogurt and pastries filled with nutella. We ordered twice the homemade salami and bread and cheese plate as a full meal. And Maura made a wonderful four-course meal one evening for all of the guests. It was colder than we expected but the Olivo room heated up quickly once the heat was turned on. We loved the birdsong and views of the countryside outside the room. Perfect location for one-day trips to Pienza, San Galgano, La Foce, and San Quirico. But what we really enjoyed were the conversations with Virno and Maura - Virno showed us how he made his own Saffron and we bought some of that and Maura's own fig jam (only buy the small jars because customs won't allow you to bring back the big jars.) They told us stories about the partisans in WWII, about the Teatro Povero in Montichiello, and about Iris Origo and La Foce, all things we probably would not have heard on a tour. We even saw a hoopoe. Hope you get to stay with them.

When I return to Italy I won't go back to Rome or Florence or Sienna or Venice. What I will do is rent a car and drive straight here and not leave for a long time. It is an authentic, friendly, beautiful place. I loved having breakfast every morning and dinner every night with Maura and Vimo and the other guests. The food was fantastic and I felt welcomed and truly happy to be there.
