Another exclusive time, a beautiful experience.
Location. Serene
Rooms. Old wooden one's that give out natural beauty of wood, with its rich textures creating an nostalgic atmosphere that modern materials often lack.
Positives. The rooms are airy (small balcony) yet devoid of any insects or mosquitoes. Cons. Though absolutely spic and span, but expect minor issues being wooden and old set-up. Notwithstanding the wooden room has its own charm that reflects the history and stories woven around them and gives out strong positive vibes (very important).
View. From my room was absolutely stunning thanks to Mr Nikhil from the Reservations, who knew exactly where to place me. Thank you Nikhil.
Staff, polite and caring. My room was done up everytime I moved out.
Food. Chef needs to be more deliberate, as an a'la carte, the most expensive dish on the menu was not prepared correctly, not even close.
My special thanks and gratitude to Nikhil, Ashwin and Vineeth.
Few of the pics are posted along.

Had an excellent Indian massage and Ayurvedic body scrub from Alem. Treatment was 90 mins long total. Followed by a 20 minute steam. I came out feeling amazing! 5 stars for the service. Loved the smell of the essential oils and body scrub - 4 stars for the facility as I had a minor foul smell coming from the steam cubicle drain. Management - Please consider putting some essential oils in there while steam is running to cover the smell.

We had the most amazing time in Raviz on our visit to Kollam. The room was large and clean and we had a room with a view of the spectacular Ashtamudi Lake.

What made the experience even more special was that our son who has multiple food allergies were catered for so expertly by the Restaurant team.

Bijil Raj , Restaurant manager was very thorough in taking the particulars of our son’s allergies and relaying this information to his team. We felt reassured as soon as we talked with Bijil that our son’s food was in expert hands .

Head Chef Arun Nair cooked some incredible dishes for my son taking into account all of the allergens .Baliappa part of the restaurant team catered so well to my husband and my dishes .

Our whole family were so well looked after by Bijil, Arun and Baliappa.

We also want to mention the reception staff including Christo and his team who welcomed us so warmly and took care of all queries.

My son still
talks about the care , kindness and consideration he was shown whilst on our vacation.

We look forward to our next stay.

AVOID THE SPA AT ALL COST FOR MEN!! I had Manoj as the masseur and he caused me six friction wounds all down my spine despite me saying not to touch the spine and writing so in an initial form, and during the massage, he claimed my spine would be corrected by him (a kyphotic spine cannot be corrected like this). When we sent pictures to "Dr" Venitha, she claimed the oil didn't suit me (then why didn't I have friction wounds all over my body?) and said the masseur claimed I'm scratching myself (how can one even scratch oneself across the whole spine? and no I don't do that). Venitha then said: "just cancel then". For some reason, Manoj also picked at some skin on my left heel and now I have an open wound there. Never an apology or even acknowledgment of wrongdoing (it's actually not normal to come out of a massage with friction wounds). I recommend that Venitha and Manoj be let go for gross negligence and incompetence.

The ladies' masseuses, however, were very competent and went the extra mile, especially Sai who was excellent with a very complex client.

Otherwise, the food is generally very good though room service regularly took 45 to 60 minutes to arrive (even simple things like curd rice) and there are a few outstanding restaurant staff like Nithin and Christopher and chef Bapi but the hotel's model is to host one day visits short stays and small family or business functions, so the service overall is transactional and not of a 5-star standard. The service is of a 4 star hotel at best.

There was also lots of smoke coming from a nearby factory and from people burning trash so very unpleasant and unhealthy, dampening the otherwise good location. Also do not go for the "mangroves" activity, this is a long drive for a highly inaccessible walk among cut down, small mangroves without any guide, highly overpriced. Also ask for a driver who speaks your language (we couldn't communicate at all with our driver).

The rooms also desperately require maintenance and avoid the rooms close to the convention center (e.g. rooms 216 to 218), the kitchen staff through plates all night creating incessant noise (it took five calls, a useless trip to the convention center wing and another call to the duty manager to get a room of the same standard we paid for but with less noise, between 11pm and 1am!!).

Overall, extremely disappointing and even injurious experience!

Dear Guest, Greetings from The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your stay with us during DEC 2023. Reading your review , we understand the concerns that you have shared online. Also would like to comment that we would look at all the points of concerns in detail and assuring improvements. Your concerns about room service delays, the smoke from nearby sources, noise disturbances, have been noted. We are working with the relevant teams to address these areas and improve the quality of our offerings. We are also reviewing the room maintenance and the noise concerns near the convention centre to prevent future occurrences. Coming to the main concern of the Spa experience that you have had, after a detailed understanding from Dr. Vinitha, sincere apologizes on a professional front, there were few pointers wherein you wanted the Indian Magic Therapy and also there was no mention about any pre – existing allergies to the oils used. Especially on a treatment front we are very vigilant and cautious, the doctor and the massieurs inhouse are well experienced and qualified. Once again apologizes for the experience which was not good as per you. On a positive note, we are glad that certain aspects of your stay, such as the food and the service from Nithin, Christopher, and Chef Bapi, met your expectations. We will make sure they are acknowledged for their efforts. While we cannot change what has already happened, we are committed to ensuring that such issues are resolved moving forward. We truly value your feedback and hope that you would reconsider giving us another opportunity to serve you better in the future. Trusting to seeing you again soon in the near future. Best, SAM K PHILIP

Although marketed as a 5 star rated hotel, found it to be substandard compared to the prices being charged. This is specifically regarding the facilities being provided but the staff around were cooperative.

We stayed for 2 days.
The rooms although clean, could be done way better with the decor and facilities. We booked 2 rooms for our stay but they could not even maintain the same service in both. The arrival complimentary fruit kits for example were provided too late. And that too just in one room.
The fridge was available in one room while the other did not have the facility and both the rooms were charged 15k each per night.

Now, the washrooms. They are way too small, and surprisingly, there is no separate place for shower, just the bathtub alone. You have to stand inside the bath tub to take a shower, which I will personally not recommend for older people.

Compared to the price we saw as we have stayed in Mayfair, with half the price there are facilities like Study desk separately, in room sofa, balcony with sitting facility. Saw a cockroach roaming on the chair :D

The drinking water facility which was pretty much covered around the hotel with 500ml plastic bottles, we have seen the huge amount of plastic waste that will be getting generated. Mayfair in this case uses an in-house glass bottling system which is reuseable and much more eco-friendly.

There was no utility shop around.

The restaurant food was not great and the amount of spread was limited. Again compared to the price, have witnessed much better food options.

The seafood was being served in a separate space on a boat but the space was very limited. No live sea food counters at the buffets. People visit such hotels to experience sea food, and the options were NIL.
The space inside the resort is limited too.

No separate jogging tracks or trails. Children's play area was a complete disappointment. No maintenance. I wonder what they do with all the money they charge. To get the yoga mats, one has to go to the next building all the way upto 6th floor.

The only plus point is the lake view.

So, I would say with the price that is being charged the expectations aren't met. There are Resorts that are serving much better and wiser options.

Dear Guest, Greetings From The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel! Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We sincerely regret that your experience fell short of your expectations and apologize for the aspects of your visit that did not meet the high standards we aim to deliver. We understand your concerns regarding the room facilities, service inconsistencies, and design elements such as the washroom layout. These points have been noted, and we will evaluate ways to enhance the guest experience in these areas. Your comments on the lack of uniform service between the rooms, such as the delayed fruit kits and differing amenities, highlight gaps that we will work to address immediately. Regarding the restaurant, we regret that our food options and seafood experience did not meet your expectations. We will review our offerings to ensure they align better with the preferences and expectations of our valued guests, especially those seeking a diverse culinary experience. We appreciate your observations on environmental sustainability. While we currently provide plastic water bottles, we are exploring eco-friendly alternatives like reusable glass bottles to minimize our environmental impact. Your feedback reinforces the importance of prioritizing this transition. Additionally, the limited space for recreational facilities and the condition of the children’s play area are areas we will examine for potential improvement. Enhancing these aspects is vital to ensuring a holistic experience for our guests. While we are pleased that you enjoyed the lake view and found our staff cooperative, we deeply regret that these positives were overshadowed by other shortcomings. Please rest assured that your feedback has been shared with the relevant teams, and we are committed to making improvements based on your valuable insights. We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to provide the exceptional experience that The Leela Ashtamudi is known for. Very lovely hotel set in pristine nature- right on the banks of scenic Ashtamudi Lake. Aesthetically built in Kerala style with beautiful arches, pillars, tiled roof, beautiful balconies.

We took a lakeview premium king room, and it was quite spacious with a jacuzzi, separate bath and WC which helps for rooms with 2 or 3 occupants.

Thrishya - bathroom accessories is a brand of Leela group and it’s fabulous.

Balcony and room was spacious and very tastefully decorated. The whole hotel provides a calm and soothing interiors and the staff is very courteous.

Our hosts were Surajit, Aditya and Alwyn who were very open to our feedback and eager to serve.

We had high tea (complimentary), sumptuous dinner and breakfast at hotel and the food was delicious with lots of varieties and service was impeccable. It was very pleasant to strike up a conversation with Biji, the restaurant manager.

We used the pool and joined the complimentary house boat cruise for 40 minutes, in the evening.

Upon arrival we found the room at 24.5C and it rose to 25.5C by evening. It was impossible to lower the temperature setting below 24C. Control board had to be opened up and they were able to set the temperature from 19C and room was maintained at 22.5C after 8 pm, as desired by us.

We would suggest the hotel staff to record the temperature of the room after housekeeping and see whether the temperature settings (both up and down) work within a range of 21-26C, at least. A checklist could be used to rule out any adverse incident like this, as it was a show spoiler in the beginning, though the hotel staff was smart to correct it in the evening to have a good rest at night.

We look forward to returning to this hotel and also try out other Leela hotels to enjoy their lovely settings and hospitality.

We celebrated our birthdays here, though bit late.

On 11th we witnessed the hotel hosting the children from a local orphanage who were welcomed with a very sumptuous high tea, magic show, band playing music and children switched on the X’mas tree lighting. I understand that they do this annually. This is really applaudable and we could see one of them celebrating her birthday too.

We had a wonderful time at the property and truly enjoyed our stay.
- The property is remarkably spacious and beautifully designed. The lobby was grand and inviting, offering a stunning view of the backwaters.
- The room was spacious with a charming décor and featured a beautiful backwater view.
- The infinity swimming pool was gorgeous with a lovely backdrop of the backwaters
- The house boat ride was quite serene and refreshing

However there were some unexpected drawbacks and room for improvement :
- The check-in process was unsatisfactory. Upon entering the lobby, we received no greeting or assistance, and even at the reception desk, the staff seemed occupied. I had to grab their attention and inform them about my reservation. Furthermore, we weren’t offered a welcome drink nor guided to our room after the check-in formalities.

- Room: The bath tub was stained, and the hand towel hook came off multiple times. The shower's water flow stopped unexpectedly several times which was annoying, the toilet flush needed repair, and the balcony door was challenging to close.

- Restaurant: The restaurant (Keraleeyam) was cramped and ordinary which was not expected from a property of this scale. The air conditioning was not functioning well, leaving us uncomfortable during our meals. Additionally, the restaurant was understaffed, and despite informing the team, food was not replenished as needed. The buffet spread could have been better.

- Loud music was being played at the pool side venue even at 10:30PM due to an ongoing event. When we brought this to the attention of the reception staff, we were told that the management has let out the space for the event till 11PM, indicating that the noise would continue till then. Further due to the event, the poolside area was crowded from 6PM onwards by the staff preparing the venue affecting our privacy at the pool.

- In the area where high tea was served, there were not enough chairs and no tables, making it challenging to fully enjoy the tea and snacks.

- We noticed a coconut fall from the tree directly onto the pathway next to the lake, posing a potential danger to anyone walking beneath it.

Wonderful stay at the Raviz Ashtamudi. We went to celebrate our son’s birthday and needless to say we were extremely well taken care of. From Yamuna at the Front Desk who made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible and always catered to all our requirements to Chef Bapi who ensured our kids taste buds were well catered to and Niki at Housekeeping for ensuring our room was spic and span. We were really elated to have met such gems at the resort who really made our trip a memorable one. Thank you to Team Raviz for a great stay.
Pros: Brilliant food , good rooms although some refurbishment is needed at places , boat ride on the lake,
Cons: Not much really

We were so comfortable at this beautiful property. It was calm and relaxing and the pool was so refreshing and beautiful. The sunset houseboat lake tour at 4.30pm was just amazing. You arrive back and are served delicious masala tea or coffee overlooking the lake. We ate in the restaurant every day and definitely complement the chef on the impressive menu. All our meals were lovely. We had a private tour with driver Vipin to visit a local Hindu temple and this was a real highlight of our trip to Kerela. He helped us as a cultural concierge and we were blown away. The location of the Leela Ashtamuti property can't be beat and the staff go above and beyond. Ashwin on front desk was so professional and always on hand to assist. The general manager looked after us exceptionally and we will definitely choose to visit again. Only regret is that we hadn't booked longer and that we didn't book the houseboat. It is stunning.

Room Tip: Book the property houseboat. The lakeside seafood restaurant is beautiful too.

We’ve checked in last week on the eve of our anniversary. We were so impressed by the property that we’ve decided to come back soon.
We’ve stayed in heritage lake view room and it was fantastic with glorious view of the beautiful Ashtamudi Lake. Room was hygienic and well appointed. Food was great both the times we’ve ordered and breakfast was sumptuous in keraleeyam their all day dining restaurant. Their floating restaurant Raanthal was great and we’ve had candlelit dinner on our anniversary which was made memorable by the staff especially Jerin and Co. We celebrated by cutting a cake provided complimentary by them and they’ve made nice presentation out of nowhere. Mighty impressed with their impromptu service.

They have complimentary boat ride of half an hour and high tea arranged next to the lake.
Overall we’ve enjoyed our stay there and we highly recommend the property for its great location and layout.
Thank you.

Hello, I would reccomend this place for lunch, dinner or possibly one night stay. There are a lot of facilities, including a great Spa, infinity pool, great restaurant, boat or houseboat trips, basically a lot to fill in at least one day. Staff is amazingly professional, if you can I suggest you stay. For the quote, of course the hotel will reply ....

Not really I would chose another Hotel further south of the airport. This is more geared up to corporate and wedding events.

Is there anywhere interesting to walk to locally? Thank you

Not much to walk around at least in the immediate vicinity. Go a few kilometers to the kollam city area and you have the fishing harbour and also a lighthouse. Now the roads are narrow and mostly have busy traffic, and need to think before going for a walk.

As above but how much time do you spend in your room. River views worth the extra we paid for superior room and had a small balcony to stand and look out over the river. We had the free boat ride each evening and this was great. Hotel was great. Staff fantastic and food very good. Envy you, have a great time!
