I arrived late at night and check-in was friendly and swift. The hotel is two-stories and it was an easy walk up the wide and gently sloped stairs from the lobby.
It's nothing fancy at $84 a night, but it was clean and quiet. The room was bright as well. I dislike rooms that are dark despite turning all the lights on.
One nit I would pick, was the internet speed the night I was there would best be described as glacial. It could have been a glitch by the provider. I ended up firing up my Verizon hotspot t solve the problem.
The mattress was just ok. It was firm, but not plush. You won't mistake for a bed at a Westin.
I didn't bother with breakfast, but it looked like the usual fare that I'm tired or eating.
There are a couple restaurants nearby, one a beer and burger place I've eaten at that was decent. There is also a Chinese restaurant next door.
For it's price point, it's a good place to stay for a basic place to sleep.
Normally I would have stayed at the nearby Fairfield Inn, but I already had my Marriott Rewards platinum status for the year and I thought I should stay here so I can get the same for Wyndham stays this year.
The Fairfield Inn is a better hotel, but they're comparable. The upsides to the AmericInns are that there are two decent restaurants a short walk a away and a large Kwik Trip convince store across the road.
The hotel is quiet. I like the concrete second floor so you don't hear anyone asking int he hallway. The bed is ultra firm, but I slept well. The towels were a bit worn, but I'm picking nits.
The sink faucet is room 212 was extremely slow.
I'd skip the the complimentary breakfast unless you're super thrifty. The pre-fab little scrambles egg omelettes and sausage patties were sad.
There is a pool that looks like it's be fine for kids.
Average isn't bad and I'd be willing to stay here again.
First I must say, we travel A LOT, all over the country and I’ve never had such a bad experience.
They charged us an extra $30 for having a pet, even though it’s a service dog. We have never been charged for her before but they caught on us the fees.
Then they put us in a dirty room with a stain on the floor and we were afraid to complain to the front desk as they already were so rude to us upon check in.
They even called down the supervisor who was even ruder than the front desk staff and they told us we didn’t have to pay the fee if we just left. (We wish we would have!)
There also was a crack in the ceiling light, and dirty shower curtain as well.
At that point, we would have left if we didn’t also have family staying there who were already checked in.
We wanted to spend time in the pool together on Saturday morning but they were cleaning the pool—how can you do that on a weekend when you have families staying there and pools are a reason for people to book with a hotel!
The “hot” free breakfast was mediocre at best, cold and looked and tasted like leftovers.
To make matters worse, they even charged us an extra $20 fee after the fact for the stain that was there when we arrived!!!
Don’t book here, you will regret it.
The front desk lady was rude to start. I got a confirmation email stating that check in was 2pm so we arrived shortly after 2. She pointed to a sign that says checking is at 3pm and acted mad that we were there. Not like “oh, sorry for the confusion, the rooms aren’t ready yet, etc.” We would have been fine to wait. I think we got the king room next to the stairway on purpose... especially since the hotel was probably less than 50% booked based on cars in the parking lot overnight.
So we got to our room. There were dirty splash marks on the wall by the sink, pee splatter on the toilet, the bed skirt was visibly dirty - not stained but dirty, there was a piece of pizza under the night stand, and someone else’s melted ice and cup in the ice bucket. I moved the nightstand to access the power outlet and found the pizza. Gross. Additionally, the tv only had 1 channel.
The updates are nice with fresh paint and decor, but the lack of cleanliness was just gross.
First - when making a reservation online there is an area for special request, well we used that for this stay. We requested a room on the lower level next to an exit because we were going to have a dog with us. When we arrived, the manager had set us up with a room in the middle of the lower level. What happened to our special request? They were not busy, maybe 6 cars in the parking lot.
Second - they informed us there was going to be a $30.00 fee for the dog. WHAT??? Why were we not made aware of these charges up front? If I would have known when I made the reservation, I would not have stayed there. I do not like being blindsided like this. Asked to speak to the manager, he was not around, they were going to note this on our reservation. When we left this morning manager "Joshua Patel" was not around. We had asked that he call us on this issue. He never did, we had call him back and did get him on the phone and he was very rude and short with us. Is this the way he treats all of his guest? Is he pocketing the additional funds people are paying for pets? Plus, when I called again when I got home, I was informed that we were charged twice! I am not happy.
Last but not least, the room itself was dirty, did not look like it was ever vacuumed, mirrors had all sorts of gunk on them, the shower had so much mold you could have scrapped it off with a putty knife.
You need a new manager at this facility that is pro-active and enjoys communicating with the public. I am very disappointed with our experience at this Whydham.
