The Shores Resort & Spa boasts spacious rooms with ocean views that guests frequently highlight, situated in a prime location cherished for its shore proximity and scenic vistas. However, some travelers have encountered maintenance and cleanliness issues, with lapses in housekeeping services. While the atmosphere generally earns praise for being welcoming, the value proposition is questioned by many, citing extra costs and underwhelming amenities. Service experiences vary, with staff often regarded as friendly but sometimes failing to meet expectations.

Hotel's Favourite

The Shores is definitely a place we will return! The room had an unobstructed, beautiful view of the ocean (we were on 10th floor) and it was fairly spacious for a standard room. The lobby area had cute little living room cubbies to comfortably sit and chat with a drink. The pool deck area had little cabana's and fire pits to roast your smore's (front desk gave free smores bag) - delicious and romantic sitting around large fire pit. There's a jacuzzi and pool that overlooks the ocean - quite relaxing and plenty of lounge chairs. This hotel had a fairly large section of beachfront with chairs you can use on the beach as well as at the pool. The pool deck bar was not open while we were there but I can imagine this tiki hut bar would be nice to order a drink from as you're relaxing at the pool. The restuarant food was tasty and good seat options. Everyone very nice and parking is convenient with a little bit of a walk. Overall, one of our favorite places so far to stay!

Hello Margaret, Thank you so much for your glowing review! We're delighted to hear that The Shores Resort & Spa left such a positive impression on you. It sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed our oceanfront views from the 10th floor, spacious accommodations, and the cozy lobby areas perfect for unwinding. Our pool deck, complete with cabanas and fire pits for roasting s'mores, offers a relaxing and romantic atmosphere, complemented by the serene jacuzzi and ocean-view pool. We're thrilled you appreciated our beachfront amenities and tasty dining options at Azure Oceanfront American Kitchen. Your kind words about our friendly staff and convenient parking mean a lot to us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable stay by the beach!

We visited the resort as things were starting to re-open after Covid-19. For that reason many things were closed within the resort. The spa, restaurant, fitness center, lobby bar were all closed. The tiki bar was open with reduced hours and offered a very limited menu. The resort did allow local restaurants to deliver to your room. Valet parking was also not available. The staff worked very hard to make the best of the situation. They had hand sanitizing stations dispersed throughout and the staff was always cleaning. They did not clean the room during our stay, but would deliver anything (towels, amenities etc.) to your door if requested. The resort usually has a $21.00 daily resort fee and a $17.00 per night self parking fee (plus tax). These fees were waived.

Our room, a king cabana room, was very clean and comfortable. It had a huge walk-in closet and a pull out sofa. It contained plenty of storage space as well as very comfortable furniture on the patio. The room was situated right next to the pool, but with the sliding glass door closed it was very quiet.

The resort has a great location right on the beach. They have a nice heated pool and hot tub. It is a great place for couples or families. We have already reserved a room for our next visit.

My first nights away from home all year! From the moment I was greeted by valet, masked, to the front desk check in I felt safe. I always book first floor, south end of hotel where it is quieter. One time during my two night stay did I pass someone in the hall. I asked for two additional sheets when I checked in, and while I know they sanitize the rooms, I wiped down all surfaces and used the sheets as extra protection on the couches. It was heavenly to see and hear the ocean. One morning I had the pool completely to myself! The only reason I didn’t give them my usual 5 stars, is during September, they only have the tiki hut open for food for lunch and dinner. The main restaurant should be opening early October. There are lots of local restaurants that offer free delivery. Beautiful relaxing property!

Due to a pet emergency, we regrettably had to cancel our trip to Mexico. Wanting to still get away for a few nights, we choose this resort for its proximity to our home and amenities. What a great decision it was! The resort is perfect in just about every way! We loved the decor and cleanliness of the resort, all the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming, the beachfront pool area was perfect to catch some sun, heated pool for cooler days was a bonus, the tiki bar was great for afternoon cocktails but best of all we loved the ocean view firepits - a great place to chill at the end of the day and meet fellow travelers! One morning I did visit the spa, which was very serene and relaxing. The only area that was lacking was the lunch and dinner menus - somewhat limited in my experience especially being gluten free (celiac) - I was able to enjoy hearty breakfast options. So glad we found this little piece of paradise close to home.

Daytona Beach is not Palm Beach,( its not even Vero Beach) so I wasnt sure the level of "resort" experience we were going to get at The Shores.
I was truly surprised and delighted by my recent experience and will be coming back in the near future.
The employees at this hotel were genuinely KIND. We felt very welcomed in this calm and casual atmosphere. We were greeted by warm smiles and hellos everywhere. Brooke at breakfast and an older gentleman at lunch were exceptional servers. As well the food was clearly freshly prepared and well above any chain hotel offering. The french toast and blueberry pancakes at breakfast were actually stunning.
Our cabana room did have some wear but was lovely and fresh looking and one of the quietest hotel rooms I have ever been in- never heard a single noise from our next door neighbors. The heated pool and hot tub were a blessing considering the breezy weather we had.
The only odd thing I noticed was the unnervingly crappy canned music played in the lobby and the restaurant deck. The lobby is a beautiful and elegant space with lush looking couches to relax and a bar attached- is the low brow rock and country a nod to the clientele? It absolutely did not fit the elegance of the space. It throws the "resort" marketing out the window into the trash. Light reggae/caribbean or jazz is appropriate... the bar area by the pool should have its own sound system specific to that more party atmosphere.

This used to be a 5 Star upscale, really nice place and boy has it changed. The lobby looks good but the rooms are run down and looking exactly like they did 10 years ago, which is just old at this point. The restaurant used to be really nice chef inspired dining, with innovative original dishes. Now it's Applebee's. And the restaurant service was just awful. For Fridays or Applebees I'm sure it would be acceptable but I was really expecting alot more. We stayed in a Beachside King Cabana room that had direct access to the pool, patio, beach are which was lovely and very pricey but I was really expecting a superior room. NOPE. The patio, beach access was nice but the room was dingy, the furniture worn, the outdoor furniture worn and dirty. For $500 a night I was kinda thinking the room would have upgraded furnishings, maybe an extra table or chair or even a nice pillow on the bed. NOPE. Same room as the $200 average room. The location is really nice and it's not a bad hotel but they really need to remodel EVERYTHING, get a chef back in the restaurant and hire some decent servers. As it is now, stay at the Days Inn and save yourself some $$.

The hotel could be an amazing resort however the mix of clientele they are now staying here ruin the experience for the majority. Also, the reduction in staff allowed numerous guests to not follow their basic pool rules and complaints were mostly ignored. Smoking in and around the pool deck was unbearable at times and my children hated the smell. People throwing cigarette butts from their balconies. The amount of marijuana being smoked reminded some guests of Amsterdam. It was everywhere. Groups putting on adult themed dances and other not kid friendly things in and around the pool deck.
I asked the staff this this mix of clientele was typical and was don't absolutely not. They stated people forgot how to act due to the virus and a reduction in room pricing as the biggest reason.
I hope the resort returns to its former glory because it has so much potential. The walk out cabana rooms are the greatest. We loved sitting on our cabana and listening/watching the waves. We could watch our kids swim. We ourselves could swim and watch our kids rest in the cabana. Having a special needs child, the set up is perfect. After the first two days we discussed coming back in late June and getting two cabana rooms with some other family. That changed when the weekend came and wild parties started.
The hotel has so much potential and could be amazing. We wanted to love it but then something could happen.

My sister and I stayed for 6 days, we booked a king oceanfront with balcony,we got a ocean view mostly rooftop, we had to pay $600 for deposit upon arrival that's $100 a night, it was a fight trying to get our money back even though we left the room perfect, they still owe us $215! Said they charged us for parking lol we didn't have a car! Also charged us for wifi that is supposed to be complimentary. The food was absolutely disgusting and very expensive.the hot tub was filthy everyday. The blankets had mold or mildew in them, we have pictures. I wish we would have stayed somewhere else, the money we spent expecting the perfect hotel stay was very disappointing. The only thing that was great was the hotel is right on the ocean. Save your money,go somewhere else.

Our reservation that was confirmed
On August 2 2019 for our anniversay on 12/31/19 was not honored, our room was given to another party and to compensate us we were offered $100, yes you read that correctly, $100. No notification of any changes and the boy who was managing that night told us that at first "unfortunately there was rain damage to the terrace rooms and then let us know that "unfortunately they had double booked the terrace room."
My experience was horrible and I would advise staying at an honest establishment. We left and will not go back. Happy New Year !

I had a close friend get married here a few years ago and I’ve been coming back ever since. I stayed for five nights last week.

The hotel is currently undergoing a renovation of the exterior which I hope includes freshening up the common areas (pool, dinging, etc.). The interior was renovated about two years ago and feels much more modern.

Housekeeping only does cleans at the end of a stay but this was clear both on the website when booking and at check-in. The staff were all friendly and some definitely went out of their way to talk with and interact with the guests.

Some cons for me on this trip:

- Their restaurant, Azure, is still operating on a limited menu. Unfortunately, this didn’t leave many options for a long stay. Also, half of the all day menu is burgers which isn’t ideal as somebody who doesn’t eat much red meat.

- The parking/resort fees, in my opinion, have always been a bit much. Especially considering there aren’t really many resort amenities except for the pool/hot tub and a small gym.
