We spent 5 days here with our dog. We arrived late (22:00) and didn't know that the reception was already closed (they are really Just Till 17:00 open). But there is a late Check-in Box so it was OK.
The Equipment: bed, Kitchen (there is No towels (!) -or you can borrow for 4,50€- living-room is OK.
You can easily reach (Edam, Amsterdam, Hoorn and other cities). There is a restaurant but it is really simple but the owner is kind. Every meal costs 5€ or 10€ :)
It said "no dogs allowed" but we could bring ours in.

We just found one thing really disturbing and that is the heating!! It really turns off at nights :(( We asked the next day if it is wrong?! But NO! It was uncomfortable and I didn't know what happens at winter??Maybe just another thing: it could be a little bit cleaner.

Cabins are nice, small, modern and neat. We fit well with a family of 5 and enjoyed our stay. You have all the amenities you might need, and still your own peace, quiet and privacy. Bedrooms are fairly small but this we knew having staid in a similar place before and does not matter as the Living area is more spacious. Park is close to many sightseeing places like Volendam, Marken, Zaanse schans which makes it perfect choice for a stay. You also have shops within a few kilometers where you can get your groceries.

Firstly it was cheap, €46 for 4 nights! Secondly the "new end" is beautiful with some lovely static homes very nicely landscaped. Thirdly, the pitches are all level (well, it is Holland) and easy access to electricity (16amps) and water.

So why only 3 stars?

The first reason is probably due to nostalgia been shattered! We were here 27 years ago with our three young daughters. It was then a small, lovely friendly site with a fabulous indoor swimming pool and great toilets/showers. Now it's "huge" - almost half a mile from one entrance to the other the "old" original end scruffy and needing some TLC but the "new" end the complete opposite.

It's now very impersonal and the owners of the statics keep very much to themselves.

There is nowhere for grey water disposal for Motorhomes and the dustbins are only at one end of the site where you have to pay to get rid of non-recyclable waste.

The toilet blocks are small, dated, you have to pay for the showers and only one of the two has a place for chemical waste - a good quarter of a mile from our pitch!

To end on a more positive note, there is a bus stop right outside the back entrance (which used to be the main and only entrance) with buses to Hoorn and direct access to the station where it's easy to get to Alkmaar etc.

The "new" main entrance is impressive once you get there but the route to it is convoluted and feels like you've made a wrong turn after using normal roads!

It's doubtful we will return (won't be here in another 27 years) - BUT, highly recommend Hoorn for a place to go. I hope this isn't too harsh a review, we had a nice time but there are many aspects that need attention - it now feels as if the static ownership/rental idea has taken over from the welcoming touring site it once was.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Everything about my stay here was pretty horrendous. Worst place I have ever had the misfortune of staying in, the place was drab and half of it was under construction, staff on reception were rude, when tasked with a very simple request and then on my last night we had to find other accommodation because on arrival back at our cabin the previous night, myself, my wife and 8 month old son were greeted by the seemingly drunk and drugged up man staying next to us with a tirade of verbal abuse including shouting at us at the top of his voice “Mother Fu**ers”! For no apparent reason! Which scared my wife and son so much they couldn’t sleep that night and wanted to cut short the stay and leave.
When I sent a serious complaint in the next day, the park admin staff told me that they wouldn’t refund me for the last night and a then went on to insult my intelligence by blaming the blatant rudeness from their staff as a misunderstanding as a result of the language barrier!
Awful

We stayed 2 weeks in #30 and couldn't have been more pleased. The home was very spacious with every eminity needed including a washer, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove & all small appliances. It was beautifully furnished & the view was simply wonderful overlooking the small canals. Early in the year, but VERY peaceful & quiet. Great location with easy access to Hoorn, Edam, Volendam and more. Will definitely be staying here again.

Nice simple park. Don't go here for entertainment or the immediate surroundings because they are not present or special. You really have to go out by car and then it is a great base. The park has beautiful (private?) newer and older houses. We had booked an outdated house (given the price and photos), but the basics were present and the furnishings were ok. Cleaning could be much better. Dust under the bed, shards of glass next to the washing machine. No sandwich service on the weekend? Unfortunately on the last evening we had a power outage that lasted for hours. It was difficult to reach an employee by phone, but he eventually came. Immediately knew where the problem was (outside the house, so a known problem?) Unfortunately, there was little or no communication about this. Something like that could possibly happen, but it did make for less fun on the last evening with friends. It was a short evening/night without light, shower (hot water), TV, etc. We may come back someday for a more modern house and the surroundings and have fun ourselves, but we will keep the above in mind.

We had previously stayed at RCN Vakantiepark Toppershoedje - Ouddorp for a week. In terms of cleanliness this was much better. We had to remove some hair and vacuum the apartment again. The toilet in the bathroom had to be disinfected because it wasn't really clean. The worst thing was the air conditioning. It was moldy on the inside and we couldn't use it.
The older lady at the reception seems very arrogant. A pity. The younger lady makes up for it.
Unfortunately, there is only a simple vending machine where you can buy sweets and water. Ice is still available at reception, but it closes at odd hours. That's not enough, especially when the restaurant is closed. That was a pity too.
The swimming pool is good. But plates are already coming loose. Also the playground is not nice and is very simple. All in all, the houses are well furnished and the region is great. Value for money could be better.

Great on the outside, ugly on the inside

Very dirty, cobwebs and dead insects on the walls everywhere, new dishes that had never been cleaned because there were still stickers stuck to them.
Check out from 10am.
On the day of checkout you can't get through the barrier and have to wait until 9am for reception to open.
Bread rolls only available from 9am, staff not particularly courteous, rather rude. Pay 68 euros for a cleaning and then spend the night in such filth.
Once and never again
