Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I thought this was a nice campground, especially after staying at the dry and dusty Laura caravan park the night before.

The shower and toilet facilities are probably needing a renovation, especially the shower block. The lights appeared to not be working very well in the ladies showers, and the concrete shower floor was rough, with nowhere to put your dry clothes/ towel other than to hang it up.

There was a washing machine, I didn't use it but many other people did.

The man who served me at the road house was friendly, but they didn't have a lot of stock in the shop, probably owing to its remoteness.

Otherwise, we had a relatively positive experience there and no real complaints. It is a very remote/ isolated area, so we were just relieved to find somewhere to camp with toilet and shower facilities.

There was also a river that we were able to have a swim in, which was very well received by the children who were desperate for a swim!

Average stop over. I have stopped at this roadhouse several times and I’m yet to have a good experience. I will always be objective and provide the benefit of my own personal experiences, in that my experiences may significantly differ from others. I get this is a remote location and transportation of goods is expensive however this roadhouse simply seems continually over priced in particular to other remote roadhouse locations. This roadhouse could be one of the premier remote roadhouses in Australia

Massive thanks to Modena, Brad & their team. Recently 30 x SES members from across the far north stayed as part of a remote deployment group of 45 people for 4 nights. The roadhouse provided amazing food at main meals including arrangements for self assembled lunch packs for in the field.
Great people in a beautiful part of Queensland.

I understand things are expensive out bush but $140 for a $30 bottle if daylight Robbery and its taking advantage of people.
Better off staying at the river just past or staying in coen

Not worth the stop. We thought we would try and do the good small town thing and put money in communities. Owner is rude and unhelpful. Charged an insane amount of money for some oil we needed (not just desert tax, more like insanity charge) . Facilities are awful. Would not recommend

Didn't stay here, just stopped in for lunch on our trek to the Cape. No complaints about lunch, which was basic 'roadhouse' fare - burgers and chips with cold soft drinks - and there is a pleasant covered outdoors seating area. Toilets OK. One thing that would have been a bonus is having somewhere to walk to - other than the car and the toilets. Maybe a short track through the bush. After a long drive we were keen to stretch the legs a bit, but no such facility existed.

We stayed there recently and I must admit that I think everyone working there is getting sick of the fact that there is a major bridge upgrade going because I found them to be quite rude and it seemed like it was a case of "yet another family heading to the cape" that they were annoyed by.
It was great to have a shower, even though it was cold, and if it wasn't for the fact that we ended up camping next to a paddock that contained a two day old foal I would have been underwhelmed by my stay here. I was looking forward to it, but I would really only stop there again if I absolutely had to .
There is a lot to be said to customer service and it seems that despite the increasing popularity of heading up the Cape, the locals and business owners on the way up don't appreciate the extra tourist dollars coming their way.

We stayed one night at this roadhouse and had good chats with two staff who were really helpful. The site itself was busy but we had plenty of room and the showers were good.We were on our way to the Cape to see wildlife and there were lots of interesting frogs and birds including an incredible Palm Cockatoo in one of the trees on the campground. We also had dinner (hamburgers including a vegetarian burger) which were good.

Archer river burgers are the best. Great venue for an overnight stay as well. On our way back from the tip we called in for a burger again. Camped on the Archer river this time. Next day at coan realized I'd left my wallet there from lunch previous day. They had rung roadhouses and stations to say they had it. When I called they said they would drop it off in coan for me in 45mins as they had an appointment there. Nothing missing from wallet. Fantastic service and honestly ❤️

Stopped twice on our trip,
Lunch up and dinner/overnight on tv e way back.
Great Tucker - burger earns its reputation.
Well grassed and open camping area. Lots of sloped area though so be prepared to level out.

Without modifications I would not take it on the Old Telegraph Track. Stick to the main road and dont push the vehicle too hard. That is stay on the southern and northern bypasses.

"Our room was very comfy. Just be aware that the bathroom amenities are shared. It wasn't an issue. We all worked in together."
