My wife and I stayed in La Posada Real for 11 days in late September. Our host, and owner, Juan, was always there to help us when we needed it. The location of the apartment was in the Barrio de la Villa, which provided us the experience of living in the oldest part of the town, yet within walking distance of all the sites and amenities in the town. The apartment was very nicely finished, very clean, and everything was in working order. The Moorish Castle remains built at the edge of the escarpment were a block away, and Baroque Churches built @ the 18 century are an easy two to three blocks walking. There were three restaurants within a block, and many others in easy walking distance. ATM's are available, as are grocery stores if you want to provide your own meals. We rented a car upon arriving at the airport in Malaga. The roads are in excellent condition. The location of Priego de Cordoba is central to Grenada, Seville, and Cordoba. The Alhambra, in Grenada, an was an easy hour and 15 minutes away. Seville was 2 hours. A caution if you are going to be driving in Spain; they use radar on the highways. We were driving from Malaga to Priego de Cordoba, and I came over a rise and saw immediately a BIG neon sign over the highway alerting me that I was in a radar controlled area. Too late. They monitor you electronically, and I received notice a week after we returned home to the states that I was 'responsible' for a moving violation in the rental car. Not too bad... 25 euros. All in all, this is a wonderful location to spend time. With it's plazas, Baroque churches, and white walled streets, it is very relaxing.…
The hotel is well located in one of the most atmospheric streets of the lovely old town. Rooms are divided between the main house and the annex across the road. Facilities are basic but perfectly adequate and comfortable and the prices are very reasonable. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. The street is too narrow for vehicles so come prepared with a printed map or mobile phone to negotiate your or your taxi’s access.
A bit of expectations setting ... think of it as similar to a vacation rental in an old seaside resort, all mod cons but old. We were here as part of an Untours package so we got the top floor apartment (2 BR, 1 BA, living room, dining room, kitchen, washing machine and a parking space for our car). The floor below us has three smaller rooms, some with private bath, some with shared bath. The ground floor has a patio shaded by vines in the summer and the owner's living quarters. By the way, the owner and host, Juan, is a very nice and helpful man. He speaks just enough english that you won't have any problem communicating. The hotel is situated in the old part of town which looks exactly like what you expected a southern spain village to look like with narrow cobblestone alleyways, whitewashed walls and flower pots everywhere. There's bars and restaurants galore and everything (supermarkets, ATMs, tourist office, etc ...) is within 15 minutes' walk maximum. Cordoba and Granada are about an hour's drive away. Ubeda/Baeza an hour and three quarters away. Roads are well marked and well maintained.…
Friendly welcome. Owner is very helpful with parking, advice on places to visit and so on. Comfortable beds, very peaceful. Good value breakfast, served in the tranquil patio-garden. Situated in the prettiest part of Priego de Cordoba, with easy access to all the main sights. Loved it!
Really lovely place to stay in a beautiful area with a lovely, friendly owner...what more can you ask for? It's a good value, clean and cosy place down a picture perfect Andalucían street with restaurants and cafes a very short distance away. Highly recommended.
