From the moment you step into this boutique hotel a sense of calm descends and Tim and Claire are the perfect welcoming hosts. We visited post Coronavirus lockdown but with safety measures still very much in place and Casa Olea was fully equipped to deal with extra sanitation, social distancing and everything immaculately clean BUT at barely any expense of the comfort and beauty of the house and nearby pool area. Casa Olea is situated not far from Priego de Cordoba, nestled in a gorgeous river bed, surrounded by mountains and olive trees, it really is an oasis even in the hight of Summer (we visited in August), the river flows gently past, the herons teaching their offspring to fly, the bee eaters chirruping...its enough to send you gently off to sleep which is exactly what I did by the pool about 30 minutes after I arrived. Claire is clearly a talented cook and dinner on the terrace was four tapas courses of locally sourced cheeses vegetables and delicious pudding. Washed down with a local Rosé wine with a side of fresh bread which we doused liberally in the Casa Olea olive oil made from the olive trees about 10 feet from your table. We finished the evening watching the shooting stars in the dark night sky (there really is no light pollution at all). The room was large, views over the pool and distant hills. Bed huge and comfortable. Breakfast was a huge spread of delicious homemade jams, tostada, cereals, meats cheeses and fruit. I wish we could have stayed longer- this place is a dream.

Tim and Claire have done an incredible job with their property. The setting in Andalusia is stunning - very peaceful. The house itself is charming - decorated in the local flavor that is both luxurious and rustic. Claire cooks amazing meals! She and Tim are warm welcoming hosts. Each day they gave us detailed suggestions for local days trips, hikes, bike rides. etc. Our first trip to Casa Olea was in September of 2018. We were supposed to go back this spring, but our trip was cancelled. We've booked a five night stay for September, and we can't wait to visit this beautiful place again!

We had to cancel our trip to Spain due to Coronavirus :( But, the communication from this beautiful place and the love they put into their home and their guests is worth mentioning. We will return another time!

We had such a fantastic stay at Casa Olea after a few days in Granada. The hotel has just a few rooms and it felt like staying in a private villa but with all the comfort of a boutique hotel. The pool area is lovely (though it was a bit cold to swim in March we could still sunbathe there) and there is a well-stocked bar to have apperitifs watching the sunset and later drinks by the fire in the sitting room. Claire is a fantastic cook. There were two choices for each course for dinner and lots of flexibility if you give a bit of notice. All of the options were local dishes cooked with the loveliest local ingredients so it was like staying with a family and tasting proper local home food done really well. The countryside around it is beautiful and you can do lovely walks direct from the hotel or drive short distances for some proper hiking through the mountains on abandoned trails or rent bikes for cycling on (flat!) disused railway lines. We were only sad that we had only three days there. Next time we'll definitely stay a week.

Tim and Claire (and Ruby the dog) made us welcome from the moment we arrived at their comfortable and immaculately maintained country hotel, providing excellent advice (complete with maps and instructions) on how to enjoy the surrounding landscape - which we did for the next 3 days! Meals, using locally sourced ingredients, were delicious - preceded by great local aperitifs on the terrace watching the sun set behind the olive grove covered hills and followed by a night cap admiring the Milky Way and shooting stars in the no-light-pollution night sky. We certainly intend to return.
