Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place has probably seen better days and deserves a restauration. We stayed one night. I loved the spacious room, the romantic surroundings and the beautiful garden. The staff were very kind. We weren't expecting a fancy place, so we were happy with what we had. I think place is really lovely. Would love to stay there again.

Had to wait for a long time to check in. Made two bookings and asked if we can stay in the same room without having to check out inbetween (same room category) . First it was a huge problem and the receptionist tried to advise us in rather changing the booking dates than making an additional booking (is not always possible, but he did not believe us), but in the end he managed to do it. Covid was a good exception for him that they were not able to open the hotel restaurant by law in the evening (why did they then even serve breakfast in the same restaurant?). When we asked if we can have a pre packed breakfast, because we had an early day trip, he said that they don't do that. Never had any problems with that in any other hotel I stayed before. The room itself was very basic, the balcony not clean, burn marks on the table a not functioning safe, dirty sofa chair. Would not recommend anybody to stay here.

This 'hotel' was actually recommended by a family member which we now assume doesn't like us. We arrived and were welcomed by a lady at reception. We went through the usual stuff and we were given our room key and told the room number. After walking around aimlessly for around 20 minutes we finally figured out that our room was upstairs... the stairs that were taped up with the classic red and white 'this is probably unsafe so steer clear'. I left my bags and girlfriend downstairs in the rain as I attempted to make my way up the half taped up staircase (there was around nine inches of leg room so, you know, super safe). We got to the room after having to forget everything we knew about BASIC health and safety and although the room looked dated, it was semi-acceptable. I then decided to go check the view from the balcony and after the crushing disappointment went to go back into the room and closed the door... turns out you have to push the door with two hands, slightly lifting it whilst kicking the bottom along with your foot. My brother was there also and he was greeted with lights that didn't work that reception wouldn't replace, a missing air-con controller and the remains of a used condom in the plug hole (not even lying!! their excuse was a change of cleaning crews). He also came to see me in my room the following morning as we were all packing and slipped down the stairs... the bloke in reception didn't seem to care much about that even after we said the stairs were dangerous. The beds were awful. I woke up to a puffy eyed girlfriend who'd been crying all night after an hours broken sleep due to the springs that were protruding through her mattress. I can't even put across how bad this hotel is. I would compare it to Fawlty Towers but at least there you might get a quick laugh. This however was a mix between a hotel run by Manuel and the Normal Bates of the Health and Safety world. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! We're all still trying to get refunds too as apparently they can't give back the CASH PAYMENT as it was a 'holiday'. Disgraceful. You could offer me ten grand to stay there for a week and I'd still say no.

Clunhouse CVL and Hotel Luz Bay seem to be the same place, so I will leave the same review: We had an absolutely terrible experience when we tried to stay in this hotel. We arrived around 10pm and the lady at reception (Saturday, 19 Oct 2017) made us try multiple cards on a machine which was clearly not working. She was rather rude. Finally she refused to let us stay on the booking we had unless we venture out in Luz to find a cash machine, but due to her rude and dismissive attitude, we decided it was better to find other options, despite the late hour. We later found out the full room amount was deducted twice from one of our credit cards.
