Host are OK. Lighting wasn't enough. There were hair on the towel. Not enough space for the shower. Not worth forb the price paid. Dinner closes at 9 pm. Breakfast should be ordered the before 9pm the night before. Breakfast was good and cheap.

Rather than face the heavy traffic in Auckland we booked a 5 day stay at this hotel and we were quite pleased with the overall experience. Rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean, bedding and towels equally so. Tea and coffee facilities were changed daily. In the room were a fan, radiator, iron and ironing board all of which made our stay more manageable. Staff were polite and friendly. They advised on a short drive to the train station to access Auckland itself and this was made easy with free local parking. This all added to a positive stay.

Huge pleasant infrastructure, but we were the only diners....plus three guys in the snug bar
Food and service terrific, obviously a well kept secret... Cos no one else was there??
Think it gets missed as its counter business is TAB blah blah and bottle shop, whilst adjoining it closer to town, is a nice little bar and restaurant options
Needs marketing guys....no good sitting on a gold mine, if you are not doing the hard work and mining that there gold

Our group booked the restaurant for a meal and event night.
We had a set menu with a couple of choices of main and desert so hardly a complicated dinner.
The organizing committee got there to set on the day up and were very bluntly told "you have been moved to the Rata room" a cold hall style room on the other side of the building. No explanation, no apology, nothing so they then had to contact all the participants to give them new directions to the room.
Unfortunately it didn't stop there, the meals promised and paid for were nothing like the ones served, hot meals were cold when served (some members couldn't even cut the meat with a steak knife) and the two mains came out 20 minutes apart so half the group had already finished their mains before the other half were served.
I feel really very sorry for the club organizing committee who had worked hard all year to set up this event for the rest of us but were made to look like idiots by the Counties Inn poor management, and poor service.
I and most other members there will be telling the committee "Never Again"

Bad management, poor service, bad food, tired dark building. King size bed, was two mattresses pushed together and were different heights, made for an uncomfortable sleep. Not recommended at all. Don't go here!

We stayed for one night and enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. Inside the room There was a great big bed and the bathroom was nice. However in the middle of the night we woke to an intruder in our room and we are still unsure how they got in which makes us question the security.

As we drove down the driveway first impressions would make you turn around and leave but we just needed somewhere for the night and so parked the car. Had called ahead and had a really friendly and helpful conversation with the manager who then personally greeted us with a warm welcome and advice about where to eat etc. The rooms are dated but the bathrooms are modern and quite acceptable. The foyer does have a very strange waterfall configuration. At the price (which included free WIFI) and for one night only it was acceptable but clearly needs some investment by the owners if it is to survive.

A spacious & clean (except carpet) room but has nothing modern except tv, bedside lamps and bathroom tap. Bring your earplugs with you! If you want to turn back time and spend a night in a museum, this is your place. Otherwise find somewhere else to sleep

The rooms are spacious and clean. Good shower etc. Was disappointed as its coffee and tea making facilities only but was told there was a good restaurant and room service if required this was a working trip. Booked three weeks ahead making sure we had ground floor rooms, was told when we arrived at 5.30pm the restaurant was closed as they had a private function on. Knew it would be a bit noisy as its a working Hotel but cars parked outside window, lights, people talking, car doors banging until early hours of the morning. Then the early morning truck drivers take off....so or though beds comfortable take ear plugs.

We stayed three nights in one of the executive rooms. Ground floor in front of complex, but very quiet with little road noise. The room was spacious and comfortable, nice bathroom etc, But hot as the devil with no air conditioning. Was reluctant to leave window open in case of mosquitoes so spent a very hot and uncomfortable few nights. Great little café area is part of the complex and the food and service were impeccable. Would definitely stay again, but bring a fan as there are heaps of power outlets in the room.
