Detailed Reviews
I am reluctant to review this holiday park, only because once the word gets out, it will get busy and we won't be able to get in. But I will as it so so good.
What a lovely holiday park! Off SHWY 1 just turn off almost across the road from Pukeko Junction. Travel a little bit and then the last road on your left and down you drive. The reception office is on your left and the park is across the road on your right.
The facilities are first rate. The kitchen is clean and each sink (there are about 5) all have washing up liquid, dish brushes which is great if you forget your own. Fridges and even crockery and utensils to borrow.
The toilet/shower block is clean and tidy. Gratitude to the caretakers of this park, so pleasant to have such a nice ablution block.
The showers take $2 coins but the water is instantly hot and the water pressure doesn't leave you running around the cubicle hoping you will get wet.
The stony beach is cooee from the camp through the trees (little piece of advice, the waves are quite dumpy so might not be the best beach for a swim) and the view up and down to Christchurch and the north is wide.
We highly recommend this campground, but please don't all rush at once, we would like to get back here again😁.

I stayed overnight in a caravan on a fairly cold night with my son while visiting the Culverdon Fete and we were very pleasantly surprised. The caravan had a very efficient heater, it was spotlessly clean and it had crisp white bed linen with towels and flannels. The facilities were also excellent with herb garden, well equipped kitchen, flowers in the toilet area and cleaning products available. We only had time for a quick look at the beach is just a short walk away. I imagine this would be an excellent place for a relaxing family holiday. Thanks.

My youngest daughter and I spent a night at Leithfield camping grounds in the very luxurious glamping tent, a girls night out! It was her first experience of camping so I've probably ruined her for any future attempts at roughing it lol The beds were very comfortable with piles of fluffy throws and pillows for us to lounge around on. It was a typical Autumn weekend, warm during the day and crispish at night but we still kept the front and back flaps of the tent open. We had them closed off with just the mosquito protection which did it's job well. We wondered along the beach collecting stones which we took back and painted at the table in the outside area of our tent. There was a small cane table and chairs and a larger picnic table which would be enough for a group of 4 which the tent could easily accommodate. The beach itself isn't somewhere I would think would be safe to swim but there's a small childrens public pool just 2 minute walk outside the camping ground that my girl was happy enough to wallow around in. We didn't take any food except a bag of marshmallows and some hot chocolate because we heard the takeaway caravan did great fish n chips and we weren't disappointed. Blue cod, chicken nuggets and chips for 13.00 and it was delicious! We couldn't even fit in one of there deserts which looked good too. The rest of the night was spent going on a bear hunt in the forest, scaring the kid lol playing cards and drinking hot chocolate. The amenities were a 2 minute walk from our tent, everything was very clean and the mugs were big enough to hold 4 marshmallows, this got a special mention from the little person. Both of us had amazing sleeps even tho the sea sounded like it was going to wash over our tent at any moment, it was fantastic! We were up and drinking another hot chocolate after another walk on the beach next morning when a lovely couple came to clean our tent for the next lucky visitors. Ten o'clocks the check out time but don't rush away they said, we're pretty relaxed around here. We still had the fairy forest to check out and drop our rocks off to and brunch at the Blue Pukeko before heading back to Christchurch. Best weekend ever my little one said!

Easy check in. Helpful friendly owners.
We were in a small camper van gave us a nice sunny spot as requested and let us use the chairs from the cabin next door.
Clean shower, toilets and kitchen.
The kitchen was well set up with electric fry pans, crock pot etc.

We had a lovely, relaxing time at Leithfield Beach Motor Camp. The location was nice and quiet, away from the main road, and close to the small beachside village and forest track and friendly semi-permanent people. We loved that it had the takeaway van there (we had two good takeaway meals, so convenient). It was fun to play tennis just up the road in the village, and also going to the Leithfield Pub for a meal (and being able to walk back along the Kowhai River Trail was nice). It's a good central location to have day trips to other areas, including Rangiora and Waikuku Beach for a good swim. Being able to bring along our small elderly dog was a great bonus. It was also no problem for us to have some day visitors. The kitchen was really good in that it had plenty of pots and pans and crockery and cutlery, etc. Thank you to the staff.

Such a great location to stay with family. The biggest bonus too it’s pet friendly too yay! The camp was so clean and tidy. Plenty of bins around to for all your rubbish. Perfect little pool for the kids to cool down in. The shop had all the basic necessities and the owners were so friendly and the cleaners too. The kitchen was amazing. Had everything you need to cook with. Even the long stay campers were friendly. The beach was great to take the dog for a walk down but a lil rough for our Master 6 & 9, however only a short drive down the road (Waikuku Beach) is amazing for the kids to swim. Amberley was so close too for a top up of food. Will definitely stay here again and totally recommend it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Charging $2 to use the showers makes the place seem undeservedly chinzy and archaic. We stayed at a lot of holiday parks and similar accommodation over the last 2.5 months and none of them had pay showers, so this place stands out, and not in a good way. I can't find any reference to paid showers on the property details of the major booking sites that I used for planning, and if it had I would have kept looking. If they insist on keeping to this policy re showers they should make it prominent on their listing on all the booking sites they are on, and let the consumers decide whether it matters to them before booking.
Otherwise, the place is clean and organized, so I think they do themselves a disservice to insist on continuing to charge for showers. As it is now I wouldn't stay here again due to the shower issue, or recommend it to anyone else, and going by the reviews there are probably others who would look elsewhere before coming back too.

Dear Madam, thank you for taking the time to post your view on our holiday park. We state quite plainly on our website that showers cost $2 . This we will not be changing as it allows us to keep our site fees at the lower end of fee tariffs in nz holiday parks. Our team hopes you fully enjoyed all the facilities here on offer, not just the great pressure showers. Enjoy the rest of your travels, Kev and Gail and Team

My stay was fine, the camp was friendly, clean and usable, however I do think it was overpriced. $23 for a mini spot plus $2 for a shower = $25 this was top dollar for 1 person with a tent. Charging extra for a shower hardly happens these days
I think if you are going to charge for a shower, it should have been put on the website so people know before hand that this is the case. If I have known it was going to cost $25 I would have continued to one of the other nearby campsites.

Hi Tui2022, sorry you felt that the camp was overpriced. It is listed on our website that showers cost $2 and this is always re-iterated when checking in. You had the choice then whether to stay or go and we would have been happy to accommodate you either way especially as a 2 out of 5 rating does obviously not represent a camp that is clean, friendly and 'usable'. I do hope your travels continued safely and economically. Gail

Thank you Leithfield Beach Holiday Park for a great night.
The kitchen was fantastic and so appreciated all the pots, pans, utensils and plates.
Plenty of showers and toilets and as we had a camper as well was food to be able to park camper right next to the unit we had also booked.
Beds comfortable and plenty of blankets for the chilly night.
Thank you

A superb and affordable camping ground without being commercialised but comes with great convenience, with a dairy shop in the entrance and a mobile fish and chips shop runs from 5 to 7 to serve the dinner if you don’t want to cook by yourself. The beach is so close. The caravan has a heater and a fridge so don’t worry about the cold weather.
