Travellers' Choice
The Manifold Inn is a delightful 200 year old coaching inn and restaurant that offers warm hospitality and quality home cooked food for visitors to the beautiful White Peak. The mellow stone inn is positioned within its own grounds nestling on the banks of the Manifold River, opposite The Old Toll House which used to serve the turnpike and river ford. This beautiful listed building is positioned close to a number of popular walking and cycling routes, including the Manifold Trail, set amongst the famous Staffordshire Moorlands and Derbyshire Dales which offer some of England's most natural and unspoilt scenery. The Manifold Inn is the perfect place to use as a base for exploring the surrounding natural countryside of the White Peak area or to visit the local Market towns of Bakewell & Ashbourne or Spa towns of Buxton & Matlock and their surrounding attractions. Open all year round and all days most of the year we offer our guests a range of Ales, Larger, Cider, Wines and Soft Drinks. We serve a traditional English Breakfast to guests and in the Summer to Campers. A Lunch Menu is available and during the Summer a Snack Menu if you are just looking for a quick bite to eat. A full Dinner Menu and Wine List is available to be served in our Bar, Conservatory, Snug or Restaurant. We can cater for Dinner Party groups for around 40 guests. We offer 10 en-suite hotel rooms and a 2 bedroom holiday cottage to guests. We often have bookings from large family groups attending a birthday and wedding or walking and cycling groups who want to get to together and enjoy a weekend in the beautiful local area around the River Manifold.

My daughter and I visited today today hoping to eat. The kitchen had shut which is fair enough but we stopped for a drink. The young blonde lady behind the bar looked us both up and down. Was not welcoming and would benefit from some customer service training. With only 4 customers in being a Monday, A smile and warm welcome costs nothing?!

We spent a fantastic weekend at the Manifold Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable and had all the finishing touches that a lot of hotels forget about. We ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant every day; the menu itself is basic but everything we ordered tasted great and the staff were super attentive. We couldn’t fault a single thing about our stay and would definitely come back again.

We decided to have a couple of nights away, our first since 'Lockdown' in a B & B Establishment. We were greeted warmly and everything explained clearly at check in . Our double room was in a separate building to the Inn. Nice and quiet. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings. There was a Specials menu each evening along with the standard menu. So this gave plenty of variety. Monday night was Steak Night which was good value for the money 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £35 Breakfast was the usual fruit, yogurt, cereals, and options for full English or vegetarian or a choice of eggs cooked how you prefer. The purpose for our break was to go cycling, this accommodation was the ideal location for reaching cycle trails, as we biked to the Tissington trail and the Manifold track from here. We had an enjoyable stay and looking forward to visiting again.

This is a nice comfortable pub, which sells a good selection of beers etc. However the place is let down by its food offering. We had a Sunday lunch we I wish I could say we enjoyed but to say it was lukewarm is being generous. Cold Yorkshire Pudding, barely warm meat, mash, veg and gravy. You had to eat it quickly or else it would have been stone cold. Plates cold too which didn’t help. The Manifold is in a great position to attract customers from nearby campsites, Alstonefield where the pub part of The George is still closed, and Hartington. Perhaps they don’t feel they need to offer a decent meal served hot when it should be hot. Would go again but definitely not waste our money on food.

Just got back from a two night stay at the Manifold inn a 200 year old coaching house about 10 miles from Buxton. We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean well presented and comfortable. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly during our stay. We had a bed and breakfast option (the breakfast was very nice) and we also had dinner on both nights. Cant fault the food its very good. We enjoyed the stay so much we rebooked for 2022. All in all a great place and a good base to get around the local area. Nice cosy bar area to enjoy a couple of drinks and a chat. Highly recommended.
