We visited the Devonshire Arms last week after a walk of two halves- started off dry and chilly and ended up with blizzard conditions that even the most resistant waterproofs couldn't cope with. Arriving back we all agreed that a cosy pub and a pint of Guinness would be very welcome and found both plus a very warm welcome at this lovely pub. The lady running the whole place singlehandedly, and enabling it to be the only open pub in the village, couldn't have been more welcoming, had the fire on and we soon thawed out and warmed up. Big thanks and we'll be back again soon!

I think everyone who worked at this pub asked us if we were happy and enjoying ourselves at some point in the visit! Just felt so friendly and welcoming. We had my partner's elderly parents with us and we were really looked after. The food was brilliant - especially the veggie option! And generous (But not oversized) portions. Good value all round, we will definitely be back. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Suzanne was an exceptional host, the food and service was superb. Highly recommend to go and enjoy the ambiance of this lovely location. The building itself was beautiful and the beer garden was a bonus, especially when the sun is shining..

We booked for a meal with our 2 children as it was our wedding anniversary and we were staying in the village. After a 3 our drive from the Lake District would found the pub was closed due to COVID. No one had contacted us to let us know and this was very frustrating.
