Detailed Reviews
Food was fine but the service was woeful. Left sitting for half an hour or more without drinks or our order being taken. Yes they were reasonably busy but you don't just ignore your customers. Not the first time we have had this experience here

Well worth a stop to taste great food from either the restaurant or public bar. Good prices, huge servings and possibly the tastiest fries I have experienced. The beer is pretty good also
Recommended. The hotel is located at the southern end of the main road and is easy to locate.

A simple but good menu. I chose the blue cod and chips. There was a choice between 1 or 2 pieces of fish. I chose 1 piece but could have gone a second given it was so delicious. The shrimp twisters were highly recommended by the teenager.

Stayed here for work. Bed old and a bit hard. Paid for room with ensuit . Shower absolutely perfectic pressher Better pressher if I stood outside in rain. Had to go down to hallway for shower which was only marginally better. When working 13 hrs all you want is good shower and sleep. So myself would just sleep in truck next time

Stayed overnight on business. At $125 for bed and breakfast, sleeping in a fully renovated room with an ensuite, this is excellent value for money. Very friendly, clean and comfortable. Hearty, well-cooked dinners available in the bar or restaurant.

Food and hosts were great but certainly wasn’t excited about spending three nights in a row in my bed wide awake while large trucks down changed gears at all hours of the night with head lights blaring in to turn the corner for the highway corner to Gore. Next I will spend more and go stay in Invercargil for the night.

Must stop here for a meal. We have been here for lunch two times a year apart and the standard is still excellent. The meals are huge and the prices are good. Beautiful little place. You won't regret it!

First arrived and was greeted by a customer who could only praise the quality of food. Inside was a traditional pub feel with plenty of folk having a yarn and a beer, always a good sign. Ordered cod and chips which is a must and am keen to get back here to tackle more of the menu. The rooms are clean and well presented and serve purpose with ease. Staff/owners are happy to help which adds to the warm feel. Come here on a winters day and the atmosphere will warm you up with out a doubt.

We have visited this hotel twice over past three weeks for a beer and lunch. Wonderful food, great menu selection. We enjoyed their Cod and Chips, tried the huge Kiwi Burger and the tasty Steak Sandwich. All agreed the meals are just great. The beer is pretty good too. Recommended.
