Ok, so this place gets two stars only because the amenities are actually quite ok- the second floor kitchen and terrace were quite nice. However Lazy dolphin it is- there was Never anyone at the desk downstairs besides one guy who just told us to go up and the key was on the door of the room. He had vanished without trace in the 5 minutes it took us to drop our backpacks and come back with a few questions. None of the phone lines were picked up, but as there was generally no coverage in the area I guess that was to be expected. Could not find anyone in the evening either, when the manager was supposedly coming to check on things, so we had to park in the middle of some shrubs as the entire parking space was taken up by 3-4 cars with a meter left on each side of them. The owner is very generous with the public area space...limited rooms defenitely less than 20 ppl capscity. You csn find everything you need in the kitchen, the only thing they dont offer is the towel (i guess they dont have enough wAter supply). We did not find the manager on check in date (6:30pm..which is strange), hence we had to use iur own data...this is the only minor ussue we had.

Regretted only booking one night. Cool place to stay! Nice people, clean and cosy, 2 nice kitchens with a cool lounge area and balcony with ocean views. Right on the beach spent the afternoon in the surf with the dolphins. Would def stay again!!

Great lodge for independent people, two kitchens, everything is clean and the service was great. Natalie was always willing to help with anything. Would stay every time I go to southland. In the heart of everything to do down there. Beautiful view.

Stayed one night on trip from Bluff to Dunedin via Catlins. Good mid way point. Had everything you needed - full kitchen and bathroom. It's very communal so only privacy is in your bedroom - be prepared to wait for shower in morning and use kitchen with others. Good heaters in rooms, clean, tidy. Would recommend.
