Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful base to explore the Lewis Pass. Units are spacious, quiet, and perfectly set up for self-catering. Set up for both winter with a heat pump and summer with ranch slider doors. Helpful and friendly staff. The region has a good variety of hiking tracks.

This is a perfect place to stay along the Lewis Pass. The rooms are clean and tidy. There is a kitchen area so you can prepare your own meals. There is also a laundry area. The location is very accessible to DOC walks and not too far from Reefton. The rooms are set well back on the road so there is no traffic noise. We stayed for two nights but would have enjoyed longer. Just sitting on the balcony and watching the weather is a peaceful way to spend some time. The hosts were very helpful. After staying here we went on an overnight hike. This motel was a perfect location to prepare.

Excellent, well stocked and clean motel rooms in a beautiful location. We arrived on a rainy morning earlier than normal but were allowed to check in and make ourselves comfortable on a bleak, cold day. Everything needed for self catering, but bring supplies as there are not many shops nearby. A couple of Freddo frogs, fresh milk and filtered coffee is a nice touch. Cosy, clean, warm and spacious rooms make for a wonderful stay. Great place to stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Lewis Pass Motels. It was very good value, all the rooms have relaxing views over the farm and out to the mountians. Good self catering facilities in room and also laundry available. Close to tramping in Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve - Lake Daniells was a great walk

Excellent facilities everything you need. Ideal for us as a break on our travels. Great views and quite. Hosts very welcoming. We didnt remember to bring enough food as the local cafe was closed and service station didn't cater for more than snacks. Otherwise superb stay.

What a nice stay! Even though I arrive grumpy and tired (got hammered with thunderstorms over Lewis Pass - cycling), hosts showed great people skills at reception. The setting was exactly what I was looking for - very quiet and scenic. The kind of view you can sit and enjoy for hours. Room conditions were modern, clean, and a reasonable cost for what was provided. Don't expect a pool or other fancy amenities outside - but that was fine by me for the quiet of the surroundings.

This is a delightful place to stay for us and our two teens. It was also the first time we were taking our commuter EV on a longer distance trip. The owner was very EV friendly and happy for us to use his 16A socket for charging our car, he has two sockets available for his guests. The place was comfortable, clean and peaceful, and the views were great too!

Stayed 2 nights in mid May. Hosts very welcoming and genuinely interested in us as their guests, making time to chat and get to know us. Unit very comfortable and we just really felt at home here with everything we possibly needed. We joke a hot tub on the deck would be the absolute icing on the cake!! A highlight was seeing a local karearea dive bombing a harrier hawk twice in one day..who needs TV..in fact we never turned it on. Thank you to the hosts..we will be back.
