The place is good, and adequate but not brilliant.

It was generally clean and the rooms were adequate, typical 2/3 star Greek rooms so no issues there. We did have some issues with ants but didn’t ruin anything and they were not a major problem (just had to make sure we didn’t leave any packets open and kept the room clear)

Pool area needs some TLC. Leaves being blown into the pool and the cleanliness is an issue. One day we had a green film floating on the pool which meant it wasn’t useable and we had a wasted day - the communication was lacking and it was only everyone asking if it was being sorted that we were told they were coming to clean ‘later’. I don’t think there is frequent cleaning (saw it cleaned once) and no one checked the chlorine levels that we ever saw (they don’t have anyone looking after grounds etc so doubtful it was happening and if it was likely the pool scum wouldn’t have been an issue!)

Breakfast was adequate, wasn’t much variety but it did the job. Was served to you on a tray for you to take away but assume this is to reduce waste and manage resources.

It was very quiet which was nice but not so great for our children (10 & 12).

Everyone was English who stayed and was a friendly atmosphere.

The location is great 7/8 minutes into the centre with plenty of restaurants and a few little shops to buy basic essentials.

Restaurants were all really good, our favourites were Delicious and Maria’s. Cozy was also really good but a little more upmarket than the others which were more rustic.

I think we ate in 2 twice but otherwise there were plenty of variety over the 11 nights we stayed.

The bakery over the road and Jerry’s were also really good - Jerrys does the best chips, taste just like chip shop chips!

Overall we had a good break, it was very relaxing - we would go again, but maybe without the kids, but we won’t be looking to book, like some who return again and again, but it’s not somewhere I wouldn’t visit a second time.

As long as you expect the basics you can’t go far wrong for a relaxing holiday with a basic base to explore or just chill by the pool (proving they keep it cleaner!)

We have just returned after two weeks in Alkioni hotel. The rooms are basic but very clean and cleaned daily, the bedding and towels were changed every other day throughout our stay.
The room had a kettle and fridge but you need to buy your own tea and coffee etc for the room which wasn’t a problem for us as we brought our own teabags anyway.
There are some local shops minutes away where you can buy basics that are open until around 10pm. There is a bakery across the road that we had recommended from other guests but we found it a little pricy.
The pool was cleaned and tested every evening and was a perfect temperature, it was pretty deep so not really suitable for children but as a couple that was a bonus, the pool area was so peaceful to chill during the day ( although the sun beds are a little hard )
The breakfast is the same each day but I mixed it up a little to add variety, there were toast, eggs, bacon, cheese, tomatoes . There was fresh fruit yoghurt and honey and some bread/ pastries which I didn’t try. Breakfast was always served with a smile and the staff were there for any special requirements.
The staff are all friendly as expected from a small family run hotel
We ended our evening each day with a cocktail from the bar with the lovely Katrina playing the perfect hostess. The bar closes at 11 but we never felt rushed to leave.
The hotel is 5-10 minute walk into Katelios where there are some amazing tavernas ( our favourite was Cozy for a fine dining experience ) the menus are very similar in them all and prices are also similar in each one.
Some people mentioned going uphill back to the hotel but it isn’t steep and we took it slow and still managed it in less than 15 minutes, I have two hip replacements and my husband knee replacements and we did not find the walk back a struggle at all !
We have rebooked for next year we loved it so much and many of the guests there have been returning year after year

Wanted a quiet week away , Katelios certainly fitted the bill , even in August . Chose the Alkioni for its convenient location to the seafront and bakery. An easy walk of about 7 minutes, wouldn’t say it’s uphill , a steady incline . The room was a good size with large comfy bed & good size balcony , all with view over pool & to the sea . Bathroom was on the small side , there is no shower curtain/screen but there is a shower tray. Didn’t find the room got flooded as pressure wasn’t that great . Perfectly functional though & all kept clean . Breakfast was a table laid out in the pool bar serving toast , jams, yogurt, one type of fruit , honey , cheese , ham , tomato , bacon & fried egg . You say what you’d like & it’s put on a tray for you to take to a table where coffee/tea & orange juice is served . Never had it like that before but I suppose that is what works for them as only a small number of rooms. The grounds don’t seem to be maintained, the grass could do with cutting and areas weeded . Some more planting would certainly lift the place . Seems to be an issue with the cleaning of the pool . There’s an area of trees to one side with lots of dead leaves on the ground , which were constantly being blown into the pool . Several mornings there was a green covering on the floor of the pool & once a layer on the top which made the pool unusable that day . Someone was brought in to clean it & the TUI rep was aware . Hopefully issue will be resolved . Very quiet there during the day and evenings , the staff didn’t interact much with the guests . If you want somewhere with a good quiet location & don’t have high expectations, the Alkioni would fit the bill but has much more potential.

This hotel has great potential. It is a perfect distance from the beach and tavernas, it has a lovely pool and nice sized rooms . However the downsides far outweigh the good.

Breakfast: Served to you like a school canteen queuing up and being asked what you want from the limited choice (which doesn’t change)and served on a tiny tea plate or baby cereal bowl.

Bathroom: Shower curtain that doesn’t reach the floor so soaking wet floor every day potential slip hazard, toilet tucked behind sink so have to sit sideways, water Luke warm and low pressure.

Pool: lovely pool, sunbeds mostly old and tired, zero atmosphere around the pool, average age of other guests 75 - no talking , no music, pool bar go inside and ask, no waiter service, drinks prices higher than in the village.
Didn’t sample lunch as the pool was so boring we spent every day at the beach and just came back for later afternoon by the pool.
Many return customers who like things just as they are as that’s what they have done for years

Katelios is a lovely resort but there must be better/more modern hotels than this one

Accommodation is simple. Our room was clean and tidy with good supply and drawers snd very large fitted wardrobe with additional drawer space. Fridge in room and had cups, glasses and tea spoons. We needed plates and bowls which we asked for and they were provided. Plenty of plug sockets in the room. Hotel offers B&B board. Breakfast is buffet style but served by staff. Choices are limited but include bacon, eggs, toms, toast, fruit and cereal. We found this sufficient. Bar open from 8am to 11pm daily and you can purchase drinks and snacks here. Air conditioning included in price and there is a remote to set it up. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels replaced if needed. From our room on 1st floor we had good views of hotel gardens, pool and sea. Quiet hotel and would say more suited to adults without older children although children would be made very welcome but not really geared up for them. Staff at hotel were very accommodating and so friendly. In particular Katarina who we got to know pretty well. Lovely pool and free lilo beds available.
Katelios beach is 5 min walk and is not huge but is really lovely with plenty of tavernas and shops. Beach loungers are along beach and free if you choose your base and purchase drink from bar behind then its yours for the day. Walking back to hotel from beach is uphill so may need to be considered. Skala town is about 8km away and bigger with a fantastic beach. You can catch a bus there from Katelios or a taxi will cost you €15 each way. We booked holiday online through TUI which went very smoothly. There is no rep at hotel and no information booklet at reception with usual details of contacts and places of interest etc. Booked our excursions with TUI prior to departure through TUI app but plenty of opportunities to book direct when you're there. Shout out to tour rep Diamond who was fabulous on our trips. Had a wonderful time and Kefalonia is the most beautiful place and Katelios was a perfect choice.

Visited here for a week late August 2023 from the UK.
Some of the online photos are very old. The property is no longer painted cream nor is there a palm tree in the middle of the pool.
A small ( 24 rooms I think) family run hotel. Very friendly. Peaceful, no poolside loud music. No dashing to reserve sun beds. Enough beds for everyone.
Any problems we had were delt with at speed.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plenty of storage and hangers. No bathroom toiletries.
Gorgeous bedding and really comfortable.
The safe is not attached to anything and we could never get ours to work.
You can not self cater here. There is a big fridge with ice box, ( bring an ice tray) 2 cups and 2 glasses and a kettle. Bring your own tea and coffee.
There are loads of restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk.
A great base for exploring the south of the island. Lots of car park space.
All rooms face the pool .
Breakfast is served to you and a little Greek!! Lunch time bar food was delicious.
We arrived after the kitchen had closed for lunch but they still managed to make us toasted sandwiches.
The gardens and pathways could do with a good weeding and tidying up which wouldn’t take long but would make it a bit more ‘polished’.
All in all a very enjoyable week. Highly recommend if you want somewhere quiet but with great restaurants in walking distance.

Lovely hotel with the personal touch, basic, clean, perfect location, only 5 min walk downhill to a lovely little beach with a couple of shops and a few restaurants. Bed and breakfast stay with a fridge and kettle in room. Good size pool with plenty of sunbeds and a good book exchange in reception.
Balcony overlooks the gardens and pool, room cleaned daily.
Lovely relaxing holiday, Thank-you x

Hotel very good for price paid. Stayed for a week. Staff friendly and helpful. TUI rep visited three days. Breakfast is good with bread/toast, yogurt, fruit, honey, marmalade, butter, cornflakes/coco flakes, cheese and ham, tomato, fried egg and bacon, coffee, tea and juice. Pool clean and plenty of sunbeds. Bar menu for snacks such as Greek salad, omelette, toasties and drinks. Room comfortable, aircon, fridge, kettle, cups and glasses, beds comfy, nice balcony with pool /garden/sea view. No self catering facilities though i.e. sink, cooking rings, plates, cutlery, bowls. We had room 17 and other guests we spoke to had the same. Check before you book if you want to do self catering. Bathroom /shower a bit on the small side but adequate. Safety deposit box in room but not fixed. Rooms cleaned regularly. Bakery and taverna across the road. 5-10 minute amble to the sandy beach. Two mini markets and gift shops passed on the way. Beach front has around ten tavernas/cocktail bars etc. Sun beds available for free if you eat/drink at the Tavernas. You get to use their toilets.
Great view from tavernas all located on edge of beach. We never had a bad meal at any of them. The hotel pool is a bit on the deep side but you can enter by handrail and gradual steps for a cool off before it gets to deep. Could do with some pool signs regarding depths. We had a few drinks at the bar in the evenings. Not over busy and closed around 11 - 12pm depending on how long you stayed up.
All in All this is a relaxing hotel. Katelios is a lovely laid back typical Greek village with beautiful beach setting. You will need a car/taxi to go anywhere else. Would recommend and will defiantly go back.

This hotel could be lovely with just a little bit of work. Pool was really nice but sunbeds tired and no atmosphere. Breakfast was the worst with no variation, cold bacon and eggs and served canteen style by unfriendly lady. Felt strained and uncomfortable. Gave up with breakfast after 2 days. Could be so much better. The plants/flowers need tending. Overall the feeling is that the owners/staff just can’t be bothered to change things as long as tourists still come.
The lady who cleaned the rooms though was very nice. Beds really comfortable. Great location but wouldn’t return to this hotel.

I've stayed in lots of Greek hotels and this one is pretty much par for the course. Facilities are basic but adequate; my only criticism is that the room (and hotel generally) is due for a refurb - nothing major, just a lick of paint and a couple of minor repairs. On the plus side, there was free air-con, which is quite unusual, and the pool was great. Most of the guests were adults who wanted a peaceful and relaxing break, so it was nice and quiet both during the day and at night. Breakfast was simple but pretty much what I would choose anyway, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We had lunch at the hotel a couple of times and it was great.

The location is ideal, being a 6 or 7 minute walk from Katelios beach with its handful of bars and tavernas, all of which are excellent.

Overall, we had a great holiday and would definitely consider returning to Alkioni in the future.

Just returned from staying here. Nice pleasant friendly hotel, rooms kept clean, great views from the balcony if you get a top floor room. Pool area could do with more upkeep. Walk into village about 5 minutes.

No TV's in the room. Taxi from the airport should be £45 for a standard 4 seater. We've just returned and used Kefalonia Taxi Services
