I have recently stayed at the Utopia Spa Resort. This is our third time in Kefalonia but our first in Kateloius. The hotel was brilliant great pool area super clean throughout. loungers were available at all times of day and the staff were all really helpful. The room were great and cleaned daily with towel and sheet replacements. We stayed B&B the breakfast covered all tastes hot cold all you could require.A lot of Guested stay all inclusive but the restaurant taverna’s available 5 mins walk away on the beach are not to be missed. The area has a reputation for its fresh fish that I would highly recommend. You can enjoy great food and drinks beautiful relaxed location. The sea is very shallow and crystal clear. All the Restaurants along the beach have sun beds and umbrellas free to use all they ask is that you eat one meal that day within there restaurant. I would highly recommend the Delicious Restaurants , food was amazing but to be honest all the food was great. A must try is baked sole in lemon sauce. We also liked the waves bar to have drinks watching the sun go down.We took a day trip by coach that took you to all parts of the Island Fisgardo a must see so beautiful with its original architecture visited by Hollywood stars. I would highly recommend Kateloius it doesn’t disappoint and Utopia would always be my first choice for this resort for the extensive facilities within the hotel.Thank you Kefalonia first holiday abroad in three years and we are so pleased we choice you I’m sure we will be back.

This is a lovely hotel but could be better. Booked via Jet2 and contacted hotel directly to request upper floor room with possibility of a sea view. Unfortunately on arrival we were allocated a basement room overlooking the car park with no option of moving room. This meant we couldnt really open our curtains. Having said that the room was nice, spacious with plenty of storage and a great bathroom. The pool area is stunning with 3 pools. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality and choice. The Utopia has for many years been an all inclusive hotel and still offers This option to non UK guests. We were on a B&B basis and there was little option for lunch at the pool bar. We ate there on 2 occasions only as we could only get toasties served in a paper bag. All drinks were served in plastic cups. If this could be improved This hotel would be great. At present it feels as if it's not sure what it wants to be.

We are just going into our 2nd week of our holiday and this hotel and village is fantastic, best one we have been to for a long time. From the moment we arrived the reception staff were so friendly and polite and very helpful, we were asked if we wanted to move to a lower level due to my wife’s walking difficulties and within 10 minutes of arrival we were in a ground floor room, perfect. The swimming pools are great and lovely and clean, the pool bar has plenty of tables and chairs and again the staff are lovely. We are only having breakfast here and wow the food is very good, bacon, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms, cold meats , boiled eggs, cheese and tomatoes. You can eat outside or inside, plenty of room and very clean everywhere. I asked on our 2nd day for a extra pillow and 2 bed sheets, no problem whatsoever. All I can say come here to have a great time, smile be polite and you will get the same back. Thank you. Enjoy

Recently stayed at this hotel!
The room was outdated and need TLC. The mattress was bigger than bed base. The pillows were flat or lumpy. The room lacked a kettle, but it did have a fridge, hairdryer, seating area and balcony.
The bathroom needs a deep clean.
The breakfast was cooked or continental- The hot food was cold!
The fruit were brown! The use of self service drinks machine inappropriate during covid times, especially when people refill drinks .
No fresh orange juice !
No snacks available for lunch . Not one Greek salad in sight. Offered a toastie or baguette for lunch.
The pool area had three pool but this was spoilt by very large inflatables, adults and children diving and bombing.
The pool lounges are wood with a very thin cushion. The worst sun lounger we have ever encountered. The bar staff played very loud music of their choice . One day at the pool was more than enough.
The spa looked nice but needs to be avoided as it’s next door to kids club so not at all relaxing.
The spa does have a freezing cold shower for those to use on a late flight.
The hotel caters for B and B Jet2 at the back of the hotel and for “ Polish “ all inclusive at front of the hotel.
This combination does not work . The hotel appears to be divided. It needs to be all polish inclusive or all jet2 .

The hotel was a big disappointment for us. The rooms and the hotel itself are shabby, often broken, and poorly maintained. The buffet food is very limited in selection for a 4-star hotel. Most of the time, it's bland and under-seasoned, truly not good. The biggest shock for us, however, was that the hotel has many bizarre rules. For example, you can't fill a water bottle in the dining room (tap water is deemed unsuitable for drinking), and at the bar, you can only get one 0.2L drink at a time, so you have to go back for another even if your wife is sitting just two meters away. The hotel is riddled with surveillance cameras, so whenever you leave your room, there's always a camera pointing at you. The staff is either unpleasant or scared due to the cameras, so no one will accommodate your needs.

The pool is open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, which the staff strictly enforces, but even during those hours, there is no lifeguard, nor are there any sanitary measures being conducted. They claim it's for safety, but no one explained what kind of safety. The answer was simply that it’s a rule. If you complain about the level of service at the hotel, you’ll be threatened with eviction through the representative (the hotel manager won’t speak with you). The route to the beach, advertised as 250m, is true, but it is marked as “at your own risk.” I strongly recommend everyone not to go there.

26.09.22 on arriving at our hotel approximately 10.30 on Monday evening we were shown to 105. This room was filthy, shower head was full of scale as was the shower doors, which were also broken. In the shower tray and on the floor was debris. Door to the room was layered with dust so much so you could write your name in it. After discussing at length with reception staff we were given a much better room. Breakfast for the 5 days we were there was exactly the same each day, so much so the food looked recycled the jams and honey were brought out in the same dish with dried jam around the edges, the dishes were covered in wasps.
The staff at the hotel could learn so much from the waiters and waitresses on the beach front, they were professional and hospitable unlike the staff at Utopia. A very disappointing stay. Would definitely go back to the island, but would most definitely not go back to this hotel.

Nightmare vacation! Room dirty, moldy, with bugs and uninhabitable! Standard very far from 4 stars. Rude service, no help from them. We were ridiculed and humiliated by the manager of the hotel because of our remarks. After asking for a change of room every day with zero effect we rented an apartment in the town at our own expense. Food was very low quality, tasteless, cold. The whole hotel is old, dirty and neglected. Before you go to this hotel - know that if something goes wrong - you will stay with it alone. A lot of stress and terrible time - never again!

The hotel is clean. Staff at the reception very pleasant. The pool was clean, probably thanks to the amount of chlorine, which was really good. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and the cleanliness around the pool was excellent.
The tennis courts are unusable.
Playhouse for children inside without toys, only tables and chairs.
You can go to the sea either by road or by the "path" around the hotel, which is not suitable for strollers.
The beaches are very nice, the sea is clean.

Unfortunately, I rate the pension as the weakest of the entire stay. Meals are repeated all the time, soups are cooked from loose mixtures. The dishes are illogically arranged (the soup is already at the end of the serving table, the bowls are on the side, etc.)
Breakfast was exactly the same every day. Lunches and dinners with slight variations: the same fruit/vegetable salads, 2 soups, always tomato plus asparagus or broth) one fish dish, one pasta, and 2x meat. Side dish always pasta, rice and potato) lunch and dinner. Snacks are always fruit (just like all day), chips and pizza. Nothing extra in terms of taste either. Misery for a 4* hotel.

Overall this hotel is good but it could be great. The pool area and the rooms are lovely. Cleaning staff are very good and rooms are immaculately clean. The hotel is well placed for a 5 minute walk to all the lovely bars and restaurants of Katelios.
The only real downsides for me are the mattresses on the bed are very hard and frankly I find laying on the pebble beach of Poros more comfortable (not at nighttime obviously). Save for the ladies on reception, the rest of the staff are miserable. A smile or a good morning greeting costs nothing and they could all benefit from some basic hospitality training. Finally, the breakfast is good. All the usual offerings to be found. The only problem is that despite the time you attend for breakfast (even when first open) the hot food is flat cold. Sort it out Utopia!! All that said, I would stay here again as this hotel is a good base from which to explore this beautiful island.

Dear Amanda, Thank you very much for your feedback. We would be a very happy to accommodate you again at Utopia Hotel & Spa. Regarding the hard mattresses, there is an option to place a topper mattress. Please next time do not hesitate to ask one from the reception desk. Concerning the rest of your comments we find them very helpful to improve our services. Kind regards, Utopia Management

Spent a pleasant week at this resort on B&B basis. Pool area was clean and towels available on request. Bar was reasonably priced with snacks available. Ouzo measures very generous depending on who serves you! All staff friendly and courteous.

Breakfast was basic and limited if you are vegetarian (as we are), but this was adequate if you are happy to venture out for lunch and dinner. Cannot personally comment on lunch/evening menu as we did not eat on the property, but other guests commented that these two were also basic/limited.

Stayed on the North side with lovely views of the mountains. This meant the room was fairly cool throughout the day (air conditioning also helped!). Room was a little dated with some of the furniture damaged/in need of repair, including the shower head which would not stay up, but not a major concern, only a minor annoyance. Our only criticism would be that the bed was extremely uncomfortable (very hard rather than firm) which resulted in sore hips by the last day.
