We booked about studio apartments directly and the cost is incredibly reasonable, particularly given we were visiting in the height of the summer holidays. Great communication, happy for us to pay on arrival and just secure with a deposit and organised a taxi transfer for us. We've visited Katelos before, so knew this was just a short walk down to the beach and the restaurants, it's a lovely small resort. The accommodation is in blocks with the pool at the centre, the landscaping is just beautiful, everything is super clean and tidy. The apartments are your basic Greek island fare - plenty of room for 2, kettle, coffee maker, air con, hairdryer and fridge all on hand. We had a balcony with a view over the pool which was lovely. Great pool bar, food was so good we often ate breakfast and lunch there, a supermarket and bakery are just outside if you want to venture out. The staff are just lovely, took time to remember our names, always there to help - and the drinks at the bar that they run are cheap! We had cleaners in every day, regular bedding and towel changes (pool towels provided). No issue with getting sunbeds and lots of shade from tress and umbrellas if you want it. Yes there were cats and a few ants, but you'll be hard pressed to find somewhere on a Greek island that doesn't have one or the other, they were no bother at all. It's clearly very popular as people seemed to know one another from previous visits, which is always a good sign - would hit the bbq that's run weekly, great value. All in all, a lovely stay, highly recommend a visit if you're looking at Kefalonia.

We had a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable experience staying here for 7 nights. The accommodation was of a very high standard, with daily cleaning service in the mid afternoon. The air-conditioning provided was great and a must have especially during the current heat wave! The place is family run and we had a real feel that we were treated as part of the family, not just guests. The pool had plenty of sun loungers, availablity never a problem. The bar was extremely well stocked and had snacks and drinks sold throughout the day, try the burger and the BBQ night was lush! Katelios is a lovely quiet town, a range of local tavernas catering for everyone at reasonable prices with fresh authentic food, definitely recommend the local beer and wine! Most sun loungers free on the beach if purchasing food or drink from the beach bars, the water is perfect for snorkeling too! Very peaceful and relaxing. If you want to hire a car then see Kostas at Venus car hire (opposite the entrance to Efrosini village) and enjoy the unique experience of driving around the beautiful island! A visit to Sami and Mellasani caves is worth it. Argostoli is a great place to visit for shopping and watching sea turtles (get there before 11am for this). We will definitely be coming back, number 1 Greek location without a doubt!

This is a hidden gem to stay in on the beautiful island of Kefalonia and is well located near to the unspoilt Mounda Beach. The rooms are big and well equipped and are cleaned every day, and they all have a private outdoor patio.
There is a well maintained and used swimming pool and the food and drinks at the bar was excellent value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thankyou Despina and all the other staff for a wonderful stay, we highly recommend this place to stay.

Very friendly and welcoming. Accommodation is standard for self-catering apartments in Greece, is cleaned daily and towels and linen replaced every couple of days. Family run, the pool bar provides good food and drinks options. Pomegranate, lime and orange trees surround you, as do lots well looked-after cats. Will definitely return

I know it depends what you want from your holiday so if whilst watching your children have a fantastic time playing in the pool you want the opportunity to sunbathe on a lounger right next to the pool, drink at the bar or sit in the shade under a flower covered pagoda eating breakfast then this is the place.

Not forgetting that as well as a deep end for jumping in and retrieving toys from the bottom, there is an enclosed section of the pool which is thigh high, an area with gradual steps and a jacuzzi section. Ideal options for every age/ability. We couldn’t have asked for more from a weeks break. However this place provided much more….The rooms were beautiful and spacious with a very impressive size balcony with lots of seating and a mountain view (room 25). There was air-con a safe a great hairdryer huge bathroom with towels provided and changed regularly. They even have the decency to provide separate towels for the pool/beach! All these little things that make your holiday more enjoyable.

Within a 2 minute walk you can find a mini market shop, within 5 minutes a bakery and a couple of restaurants and within 10 minutes a handful of shops a lovely stretch of beach lined with about 12 fantastic restaurants.

We’ll be back!

We stayed at the Efrosini for 2 weeks in early September. We were allocated room 2 which was a little one up one down block in one of the best locations there with a private patio. The beds were super comfy and all had a comfy mattress topper on. Rooms were spacious, clean and smart and of a good standard and the double glazing very good, we never had any disturbance at night. The pool was one of the nicest pools that I have swam in, so relaxing.

We could not have asked for better, the service was great, Despina (the owner) worked in the bar in the day and always greeted us with a smile and was keen to ensure that all was well and we were happy. I asked for a blanket one morning and within an hour there was a blanket in the room.
Felt really safe there in a covid world. The buildings, sun beds and walkways were all washed down each day and the rooms clean with remote controls wrapped in fresh cling film for each guest. In line with protocol they had removed blankets from the rooms and they were available on request. Tables were washed down after each guest and there was hand gel available in various places.
There was an extensive menu of food and drinks at the bar and they were all better than reasonable prices, very cheap. Cocktails €5, 3 x egg and chips €4, egg salad €3 and the food was all tasty and fresh, we always ate lunch there when we were having a lazy pool day. We did the bbq night a couple of times which was €12 each and covered salads and meats and was one of the nicest meals we had, lovely fresh food.
The owners look after the cats that are on site and they are all given fresh food and water daily and see a vet when required. The cats are friendly and if you don't like cats just ignore and they will go to somebody else, but they were all lovely.
It was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there, Despina wished us a happy anniversary on the morning and said that there was a bottle of prosecco behind the bar for us when we wanted it which was a lovely touch.
The Efrosini was about a ten minute walk downhill to the tavernas on the beach front and there is a supermarket literally at the end of the driveway.
We hired a car from venus car opposite and there is plenty of onsite parking.
We also hired a boat for the day from yiannis on the seafront and would definitely recommend.
We also booked a couple of massages from a proper qualified masseuse who did the most amazing massages under the onsite palm trees.
Would definitely stay at the Efrosini again if we were to return to Kefalonia. The only thing I was not so keen on was the non guests using the pool, they did seem to be people who were regulars there not just random holiday makers.

This is a stunning small resort off the beaten track but accessible to all amenities in Katelios, like a 5 min walk. The accomodation is very clean and consists of a double bedroom and a single bed down stairs, with a small kitchen area, well equipped for self catering. The breakfasts are amazing cooked by Fotis the onsite chef who prepares the most delicious meals. We ate at the resort alot!
The resort is small but has everything you need, the swimming pool and surrounding gardens are stunning.
Would 100% recommend Efrosini welcoming and friendly. Katelios is beautiful.

Beware of misleading transactions and deceitful customer service.

Having a room booked for the 21st September I responded to the hotels request to confirm on the 18th asking them to please cancel my reservation.
I explained I had not travelled to Kefalonia due to illness and was still in the UK.
John confirmed my cancellation and said that I would not be charged.

Since then I have been charged and the hotel refuses to refund me.

Response from John Papadatos, Other at Efrosini Village
Responded 4 Oct 2024
Dear Lisa, We usually do not respond to reviews if they hold a degree of truth in their statements. But I'm afraid that this is different. Your reservation was for 1 night, the 21st of September. You contacted us on the 18th asking for free cancellation. This was outside the free cancellation period (7 days before arrival) within which we are entitled to full compensation. Nevertheless, we accepted your request as a courtesy and our response was this: "I'm sorry to hear that Lisa. Please proceed to the cancellation with the request not to be charged and I'll confirm it. I hope to see you some other time." To our message we received no response (eg a 'thank you'), nor did you proceed to the cancellation of your reservation as I explicitly requested. As I've explained, a cancellation made through Booking.com (or any broker or agent for that matter) cannot be cancelled by the hotel. When a reservation is made through a platform such as Booking.com, we do not have access to canceling a guest's booking just because we've received a message from them. It's your responsibility and right to do so. Please also consider that we do not know the circumstances of your request for a cancellation. We do not know who was ill, how ill he/she was, and if he/she eventually got better or if the first symptoms of an illness never really developed. And in fact, it has happened before having guests eventually arriving after inquiring about cancelling--but as in your case, not doing so. Eventually, as you did not cancel you did not give us the chance to have the room available for another booking. As our courtesy for free-cancellation did not extend to a no-show, we were compensated for the one night. Most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, a simple response from you to our courtesy, would have perhaps alerted us that something was wrong and this whole misunderstanding could have been avoided. All the best, John

We’ve recently returned from a lovely week’s stay at the Efrosoni Village. It started with a lovely friendly welcome from Jenny in the bar and her hospitality along with the other staff continued throughout our stay. We enjoyed the BBQ night with lots of different tasty food and it was good to meet and chat to the other guests also. The breakfasts are a must including the fresh orange juice and delicious Greek yogurt with fresh fruit some of the many options to start your day. Also lookout for the entertaining cats and kittens playing in the grounds and foliage. The location is great it’s walking distance to the beach and local tavernas on the sea front. A great week of relaxation and would recommend to anyone visiting Katelios.

Having been to Katelios twice before and loving it so much, this time we booked at Efrosini Village and found that we had made an excellent choice. We were celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary while we were there and John was so friendly, helpful and informative about the room options available via email prior to our visit.
We were overjoyed when we were shown to our room, Rook 3 - it was spacious and in a separate building to our 1 nearest neighbour, meaning we enjoyed privacy on the balcony. The balcony overlooked the beautiful gardens, the pool, open countryside and to the side, mountains. The room was spotlessly clean at all times.
The bar and its staff, Fotis, Despina and evening staff were wonderful. The pool area is stunning and we enjoyed watching the families and children enjoying the pool - there are plenty of inflatable toys for children to use. As a couple however, rather than a family, we chose to spend our days on the beach. We were totally relaxed at Efrosini and came back fully recharged. Thank you to all of you for a truly fabulous stay.
