Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have used this motor lodge a few times now, I like it as it is easy to find at night and the owners/staff just make things easy for you. Large room, very good sized bathroom/shower. The main state highway is not far away and there is a set of traffic lights just there which make it easy to pull back onto the main road. Just down the road is a selection of eating establishments and a pub. Always clean and I find it very good value for money.

The Marina was spotlessly clean and Carol (Manager) and the team made me feel like part of their extended family. We found the homemade food delicious and an unexpected bonus. Carol even went out of her way to drop our daughter off at an event to allow our baby to continue to have her nap. I would come back because of Carol and her professional, friendly approach.

It didn't start well, with advice when we called them again, that our booking had not been confirmed by us (we had just phoned-in and provided Credit Card details for the booking) and was now not available - taken by a Corporate. Initially begrudgingly accepted this but then we called back to query. They admitted their mistake and the booking was reinstated. No "sorry for our mistake, please accept an upgrade" offer.
Room was large and comfortable, bathroom fine but main road to the front and trains to the rear meant several disturbed nights. No double glazing.
To top it off, Wifi with 50mb is only free on the 1st night thereafter must be purchased... whether you stay for 2days or 2weeks.
All in all.. For the price, could have been better.

We stayed at this Motor Lodge and it it was truely a NIGHTMARE.. The Train Track was about 100 Metres from our room. Our room vibrated every time a Train went Bye at least 20 times during our stay. The walls were paper thin I would resemble it as more of a Backpackers Accomodation where you can everything from Babies crying, Dogs barking in one room , Beds squeaking etc. We woke in the Morning to discover there was NO HOT WATER for a Shower and then were told that was too bad. When we asked for a REFUND we were confrounted with an Angry woman who called herself the Manager Owner. She did offer a refund of $30 which we flatly refused as we had paid for a Service and believed we hadn't received full service so expected more of a refund. After more angry words were exchanged . This women escorted us to our Car as we left yelling abuse. She then proceeded to Jump on our Car as we left and remained there for at least 10 Metres at the same time trying to pull our Window Wiper off our car. My Daughter has this scene taped all of this onto her Phone Camera.

Limited internet at exorbitant prices, no Sky tv, outside lights on all night effectively lighting up bedroom. Old, dated and well below expectations. Reception is not open at advertised times. Train line was just another surprise,

Beware - these people charge a $30 extra per night for pets. Have travelled around Australia and UK and not had to pay this much extra. My pets are cleaner than the rooms and to top it off you are next to a train station. Two scruffy women at the reception desk superficially polite but completely on the defensive if you have a complaint or any concerns. Porirua is not the best place to stop off in Wellington but surely could do better this.

This is not the first time I have stayed at Mana, and wrote a review this time last year. To show that this place is consistent I thought I would write again. Same pleasant service, nice room, within walking distance to shops. Excellent place to stay.

We stayed here for one night during our road trip of New Zealand. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and our room was lovely -comfortable bed and updated bathroom. The only drawback was the railway track that runs along side the property and although electric trains so fairly quiet, we did find they disturbed our sleep. If staying here, suggest requesting a room at the other end of the property.

We stayed in the Marina Motor Lodge last night. The room, the service, parking ..., everything was fine and we were happy. Except the internet. We were given a voucher for 100 MB per person of internet for our one night stay. I must confess I only looked at it when we came back from dinner and only then realised how minimalistic it was. Reception was unfortunately closed by then.We liked it there and will most probably return, but limited internet is yesterday. Most places give you unlimited these days and with all the advertising thrown on you, whatever website you open, you have probably used this before reading one news article. We had a wee bit of fun as our room had a connecting door to the neighbouring room and at midnight the kids from there came over to visit.
