Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was referred to this wonderful b&b by another b&b that was full. The location is superb, looking out on the machair and beach at Reef where you can enjoy terrific walks - more walks around Uig Sands just a few miles away. Kathleen and Murdanie Macdonald are charming and helpful hosts and do a good breakfast. It's not ensuite but that hardly matters as there are only two rooms and it is reflected in the price.

A warm Scottish welcome awaits. Great B&B warm comfortable and very welcome after a couple of wet days. Tea home made cakes and scones would definitely stay again. Places to eat are few and far between so factor this into your plans if you need an evening meal

This is my second visit to stay with kathleen and murdanie, once again it was a home from home ,so welcoming ,nothing was too much trouble, even trips to the shop, just a place i feel so at home at.The beaches are beautiful,i wandered to the beach with my book and found a small sand dune and spent time just reading and enjoying the view on this mostly deserted beach.

A lovely B&B at a beautiful location on Uig, Lewis. Kathleen and Mordanie were delightful hosts, and were so welcoming to us all. Their house and accommodation were immaculate, the views were quite amazing, and Kathleen's breakfasts were superb. A great location and B&B to visit in such a beautiful part of the world (with so many amazing beaches nearby). In summary, we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for the final few nights of our Hebridean tour.
Mòran taing.

My fiance and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this B&B. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious with a large bathtub. Very quiet location. Tremendous breakfasts, delicious and more than enough to eat. Kathleen was an excellent host; we hope to visit again sometime.

After 2 weeks of travel and staying in chain hotels it was refreshing to be welcome to Kathleen and Murdanie's immaculate B and B. The rooms and bathroom (not ensuite, but a really good power shower) were extremely clean, warm, a comfy bed and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, fluffy towels, hair dryer and even hair straighteners. There was a good choice of breakfast foods, either cereal and toast or a full Scottish fry up to build you up for a days exploration and Kathleen is a good cook. As a city dweller it took some time to get used to the absolute silence of the outer Hebrides. The village of Reef only has a handful of houses And is very peaceful. close by is the stunning white machair beach and the beautiful expanse of beach at Uig sands where the Lewis chess men were found (there is a nice museum with more information at the Uig community centre). And it's well located for wildlife spotting boat trips out from maravig pier. Good value B and B we will return!

We were tired and needed a place to rest after a full day of travelling around Harris and then Lewis. Kathy Macdonald's home was the perfect place. We were really lucky!

She offered us Tea & Biscuits, then let us choose what we wished for breakfast - and was rather generous with it! She is gonna make you feel home.

The room had a beautiful view on the reef, which is my favourite place on the island and possibly the best beach ever in Scotland. The bathroom was clean. The B&B has 2 rooms, so its really homish!

If you head up towards Uig this is your place :)
