My husband booked Mount Cook Lakeside Estate as a surprise weekend away for my 60th birthday. The location is idyllic with lots of outdoor activities on offer should you be inclined. The accommodation is luxurious, spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. The food prepared by chef Tom is simply delicious. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients cooked to your individual tastes and delivered to your dining table. Luke, Kaye and staff could not have done any more to make this a perfect stay.
Luke and Kaye, along with their lovely pair of dogs, shared their spectacular property with us in late July. Being far away from the crowds and concrete of big city life, the Lakeside Retreat is an oasis of nature and homeliness. My wife and I enjoyed high class meals prepared by the excellent chef,Tom, while seated beside a real log fire. The views of the Southern Alps behind the glacial lake will fill you with a sense of wonder and peace. As mentioned here by others, all facilities - the rooms, the fireplace, the furniture, the spa tub, the wine cellar and the boutique gym are all of an superb standard. There is also a new dining room,The Moraine, with enough seating for thirty which from time to time hosts group parties and feasts. On this occasion, we were fortunate to…
Best view of all places we stayed in NZ this trip and best meal cooked from chef Tom. The host, Luke and Kaye are very lovely and attentive to every detail. We did a private stargazing and it was marvelous! Luke gave us a tour of the universe. There are lots of activities you can choose from including tennis, spa, hot tub, sauna, croquet, etc. Best experience of all traveling time.
My husband booked the Ashley Mckenzie Villa for our anniversary and it was out of this world. The owners have thought about every little detail. The villa is immaculate, the food sensational, the hot tub and sauna is bliss and the views are just stunning! This is by far the nicest place I have ever stayed and i cant wait to go back.
Cannot say enough good things about Mt. Cook Lakeside Retreat. Luke and Kaye make every second of your stay comfortable. They are professional yet make you feel like a part of the family. Their two dogs were a hit with my family as well! The retreat is maintained immaculately and every foreseeable need is thought out and accounted for. Such a luxurious experience from the second we pulled up the driveway. I will never forget sitting in a hot tub overlooking Mt. Cook and Lake Pukaki. And don't even get me started on the food! I'm still dreaming about Tom's lamb. Again, I have nothing but positive things to say about this amazing property and its owners!
