We stayed for 2 nights while we explored Byron Bay. TP was a great host who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and the attention to detail around the place and our room was noted. As soon as you walk in the door you can feel the relaxed Japanese vibe. It was so quiet and tranquil with an amazing view from our room. The only thing we would have liked is a proper chair to sit in as the bed wasn't comfy for sitting but it sure was comfy for sleeping in. We couldn't hear our neighbours and the noise from outside was beautiful. Thanks TP

A very small quiet retreat situated about a 10min drive from the centre of Byron bay, breakfast was small but very fresh and they also offer a voucher for a cafe in town if you decide not to have breakfast at the hotel. You are very much in the Forrest so you hear all sorts of wildlife throughout the night which didn't bother me but might if you're a light sleeper. Pool area was nice and clean. The only downside I would say is I felt it was a little on the expensive side.

Would highly recommend staying at azabu retreat. Stunning location amongst the trees, only a short drive or bike ride into to town. Fantastic facilities. We made great use of the pool and spa and also the electric bikes. Breakfast delivered to our balcony in our room was delicious. The owners of azabu are most attentive and welcoming. After reading some negative reviews- I honestly cannot understand why. You can sometimes hear the peacocks at night but it was maybe once or twice and it was quite a soothing sound to sleep to as it blended in with the natural forest feel of the environment.

The only good point about this property is the location - very peaceful, easily accessible and a short drive into town. Cooked breakfast 1st morning was very good, 2nd day fruit and muesli average. That’s where the good news ends.
Disliked · We are at a loss, as to why there are good reviews of Azabu. The property, and the rooms, have been neglected , are shabby, and badly in need of renovations. The pool didn’t look too inviting . Cleanliness and hygiene are well below par. Rooms are sparsely furnished, not conducive for relaxing, and the only view we had from our room was a 2 metre bamboo fence! , with a postage stamp size balcony . The host begrudgingly changed our rooms after we complained , and whilst he acknowledged that the property needs serious improvements, his attitude was indifferent, and he was quite rude and offhand about the matter. Obviously guest relations is not a priority. The photos on Booking.Com are inaccurate and misleading. Our special weekend was ruined by staying at Azabu.

We are planning to stay for our honeymoon in various different hotels in Byron and thought we squeeze 1 night with Azabu for the forest experience.

I did my research and it’s a little
Worrying with the mixed reviews but decided to go ahead and called up to check if their promotion on their website to get better rate if book on the phone still stands. Called up and a gentleman picked up. He has a very soothing voice which seems like a great indication of how tranquil this place is going to be.

Then I asked about the promotion and he was with condescending tone explained to me that the winter promotion only stands in winter and that winter month is June-August while there are other promotion on. This probably my fault, so I am not complaining about it however, he didn’t need to be condescending.

When I asked for the room rate he gave me 2 options and recommended the queen room. I asked what’s the rate and I found that booking.com has better rate than book directly so I said thank you, however, I realised after hanging up I didn’t catch his name. So I called up and asked for his name and he said ‘You didn’t catch my name? I never gave you my name!’ And I said ‘Oh yeah, so what is your name?’ And he hang up! I was shocked because I never received such bad service from a hotel before. I always ask for the name of any service people because I work in hospitality and it’s always nice to be more personable. I called back 4 times and he deliberately didn’t pick up. Well, definitely not going to spend our honeymoon there.

My partner and I came here for our Babymoon and it was hands down one of the most relaxing holidays of my life.
Not only was the owner TP welcoming and friendly, he went out of his way to make our stay pleasurable.
From the beautiful breakfasts to the charcuterie board for dinner one night to the effort put in to taking some photos of us when my partner proposed, everything was absolutely amazing.
The massages were incredible and well worth every penny.
If you're looking for a chill getaway where you can be pampered and well cared for, look no further than Azabu.
You won't be disappointed.
Thanks again, TP! You helped make our babymoon just perfect :)

Me and my sister stayed here for a week and it has been great! The name says it all, azabu boutique meaning expect a Japanese vibe with a boutique room. We stayed in the studio which was perfect for us. A queen bed with jacuzzi bathtub and shower in one. It was really relaxing waking up to the forest sounds.

We had a 60 min facial and it was bloody amazing. It felt like it was more than 60 mins but the treatment was so good.

Loved this place and its staff as they helped and recommended places to visit.

Thank you to the team who took care of us on our stay. We had an amazing time! Now back to the busy and stressful Sydney 😪

My friend and I enjoyed our 3 day retreat so much.
The King Room was lovely, a little run down.
We both found the beds and pillows needed renewing.
The veranda was a quiet, comfortable spot to relax and take in the beautiful gardens and the sounds of nature.
The spa treatments were wonderful. A big thank you to Kirsty who had amazing hands for massage and a beautiful kind soul. Highly recommend her relaxing & therapeutic massages.
TP, the owner / manager made us comfortable and attended to anything we needed with a great story and a chat. He makes a wonderful breakfast.
A tucked away tranquil retreat.

My partner and I returned to this place for the second time in 6 months. We love it. The setting is in a tropical rainforest with Peacocks wandering the grounds, is quite lovely. Great to get out of the city and into a natural habitat which is only 5 mins fro Byron beach.
The Management are attentive and very polite. The rooms more than adequate in size and appointments, nice spa in room, with no look-in from the neighbours. And the private balcony which adjoins the room is perfect for evening drinks or room service breakfast.

Oh, and the resident Japanese masseuse, Eri, was outstanding!

10 out of 10 to Azuba for delivering a comfortable stay which more than meets one's expectation after reading the website features and benefits. We will go again, no question. Thanks to you and your team, TP.

Sent my son there for his 21st (with his girl) for four nights. He came home with the most horrific pics and stories of his stay. Mould on the walls, dirt and dust everwhere. TV was falling off the wall. Pool was unclean and murky. Bamboo (in advertising pics) was chopped down and falling everywhere. Shower area was full of mould and the shower head was blocked so didnt work properly. He had to scrub the spa in his room clean before they could use it. We tried to communicate with the owner and have met with silence. $500 a night to give my boy a 21st present...its ciminal. Please do yourself a favour and stay well away from this so called resort.
