Just come back from Eriyadu and having never been to the Maldives before we were thrilled to experience something new every day. The wildlife is amazing, the fruit bats, the herons, other exotic sounding birds, the hermit crabs, the lizards and the enormous ants were all fascinating but obviously the sea-life is something else. We swam with Eagle rays, tipped reef sharks and turtles and so many beautiful tropical fish that I couldn't begin to name. Large nurse sharks live there too and dolphins are present- all harmless but breath-taking to see in the wild. Snorkelling really is the number 1 activity here, and exploring the endless reef and eyeing the drop-off with it's threat of larger less benign sea-life is enough to keep a middle-aged couple like us feeling very much alive. The dive centre has all necessary equipment for this but we took our own prescription masks as we didn't want to miss a thing. They will also provide paddle boards and kayaks - some with clear bottoms- and Padi scuba courses if you want them. They also took us out to another reef 20 mins away to check out the turtles there for a fee, but lots of people we met saw turtles in the house reef for free.
The staff at Eriyadu are lovely and smiley, and very attentive. Sometimes they can have a tendency to quiz you on why you haven't been at breakfast for the last two days, (having a lie-in!) or why you didn't want your room making up yesterday? - (having another lie-in!) but our cleaner was happy to come back later on when we asked. The rooms are a bit shabby, the edges of the laminate flooring were curling up from repeated wet footprints I guess, and the wooden furniture was scuffed and tatty, but the bed was huge and comfortable, the air-con effective and the bathrooms were fairly modern and very clean, and really that's all that matters on a holiday where you spend most time outside. The bathroom has twin sinks, a bath and two showers - one underneath a hole in the ceiling which meant that we got to shower in the warm tropical rain when we had a storm, and on another dryer day, the tree above us was alive with fruitbats. Pretty magical. The buffet restaurant had a really good selection of dishes, my husband ate dahl for every meal (thank God we were outside mostly) but there was cereal, toast, very fluffy omelettes, cooked breaky items, croissants, and tons more at breakfast, main meals offering fried chicken, soup, salads, chow mein, stroganoff, and more curries. The deserts were interesting and plenty of fresh fruit was provided, their apples in lemon or cinnamon water were delish, and whilst some dishes were not covered, there were hardly any flies present and the salads caused no problems for anyone. The kitchen staff were constantly refreshing the containers and I was really impressed by the waiters' efforts to make us comfortable and satisfied. You must bear in mind that being a muslim country they will not provide any pork dishes, bacon, pork sausages etc, and whilst we partied in the bar with some overtly lesbian couples, there is still a certain amount of sexist stereotyping displayed inadvertently - giving my beer to hubby darling and his wine to me etc. On the other hand, there were several examples of a lack of respect for their culture shown by some guests, who weren't always shy about sunbathing topless or wearing revealing clothing to dinner as though it were some place in the Med. However, the worst offenders were the Russians who of course never smile, as it's not common in their culture, and could at times be very rude to the wait staff. Even on a shared boat trip we struggled to connect with them and afterwards it was if we didn't exist. They seemed sometimes to only be there for the selfie opportunities, and I found them uncomfortable to be around with the current situation in Ukraine. By the time we left, their number had become the majority and on a small island with no chance of escape it became my only complaint.
Maybe some of the niggles in reviews below have been responded to as we found no problem having drinks next to the pool, or taking it back to our room. We saw others bring back drinks from the Turtle bar to their sunbeds outside their rooms and we felt lucky that whilst all of the channels on the room's TV (other than Al Jazeera) were not understood by us, two football matches that we were interested in watching were actually shown, so we brought wine back to drink whilst watching. The shop is ridiculously expensive, I was tempted my a lovely little shell bowl until I realised it was $400. Friends said they paid over £30 for a forgotten bottle of suncream. So make sure to bring the essentials, which IMO are, 2 or 3 swimsuits, snorkelling equipment if you want your own, sunscreen, toiletries and casual hot-weather clothing. I went everywhere bare foot, only worrying about treading on hermit crabs and there is no point in dressing up for dinner with the sandy floor and heat. Swim shoes are helpful if not wearing flippers as the coral can be really sharp.

Travelling with my best friends, we enjoyed an amazing week at this gorgeous resort at the end of April. We stayed in beach villa 218 giving us a stunning view of the beautiful white sand beach and aquamarine ocean. Our beach room accommodation was everything we needed, cleaned daily, the beds were very comfortable, the A/C a joy to step into from the heat, a decent sized bathroom complete with an open roof shower and ample space for three women's toiletries! We experienced excellent customer service from all staff throughout our stay but would like to give a special shout out to Raj the Chef and his fantastic team of kitchen staff and waiters. Also our very grateful thanks to Modie the Manager who rearranged our return speed boat transfer to the airport to a later time when our return flight was delayed and ensured that we had access to a room and shower which enabled us to eek out the last few hours of our stay. The resort is encircled by a reef that is easily accessible, this underwater experience provides stunning views of the sea life and coral. As all inclusive guests we had a free leg massage which I would totally recommend, try to book this quite early into your stay to relieve your tired legs from the long flights. We had such a good time that we also booked a Balinese massage during our stay. Being abroad with great friends and sharing this amazing holiday experience was truly paradise, but what struck me most and was the icing on the cake was the overall friendliness of the island from both staff and guests.

Just back today from a seven night stay, will give you an honest and balanced review.

Arrival at Male. Found the Eriaydu desk no problem, the speed boat tranfer is 150yd outside the airport, doddle.

Arrival at Eriyadu. Very nice trip on the boat, smooth check in process, cases are taken off the boat for you and then to your room. I would advise that once you are in your room, have a look at loacation, if you are dissapointed in anyway, have walk round the island, 10 mins, if you spot a nicer outlook, request to change, they will go out of there way to help if possible. We did exactly that.

Food. Repetitive but fantastic quality, curries are special lots of fresh tuna, some great pasta dishes too, the omelettes at breakfast are great. The waiters are really nice guys. We gave them a few 5$ tips through or week, same with our cleaner.

Entertainment is very hit and miss and laid back. If you looking to party on down this maybe isnt the place.

The location is picture post card Maldives. White sand, Auqa Mairne warm water teaming with multi coloured residents both in the water and on the land.

All inclusive package worked a treat for us however, we purchased classic cocktails from the main Blitz bar and had a daily walk to Turtle beach bar, a must do btw, both charged outside the A.I package, and bought a bottle of fiz for our anniversary and our check out bill for the week was a very pleasing £144.00.

In summary i would reccomend Eriyadu. Budget Maldives at a fraction of the cost of some of the neighbouring islands I believe.

Thanks to each and everyone of team Eriyadu for a fantastic week in paradise.

We checked into this resort yesterday. Since then we have been experiencing a total racial discrimination. The best rooms are alloted to fair skinned foreigners from European countries or USA Australia and we were given all the back rooms with hardly any sea view. The air conditioners are not working, the towels, soaps, were not kept in the rooms and were not given even when we asked.
In the morning when we occupied a table for breakfast, we were asked to get up from the table and told to shift to another table. We came to know later that the table was kept for white skinned persons.

We do not know how much more racial discrimination we will have to endure till we check out. Since we have already paid the money in advance we do not have much choice.

Would not recommend this resort to non-whites.

Dear smitam325, Thank you for posting your comments on your recent stay with us. We are extremely sorry to hear about this, and even more sorry to disappoint a customer. After verification, this is because some European guests stay for 2 to 3 weeks and they request for specific table in the restaurant, we reserve the table for them. We will do our best to meet the needs of our customers wherever they are from. We are committed to providing great guest service and we would like to make things right. And we do our best to make sure every guest feels warm and comfortable and hope this has not completely altered your decision to stay with us once more. Best regards. Eriyadu island resort

When booking your trip make sure that you get the cottage with the beach access otherwise forget it .
Our room has no shampoo holder and we ended up putting out stuff on the floor .
It’s weird also that they knock on your door after dinner and offer to clean the room ? Don’t they usually do it during the day ?
Take note that they don’t have free water in the restaurant. They do supply each room with 2 500 ml water .
The house reef is very good and accessible.

We visited her in March 2022 for my birthday. We had a very delayed flight and contacted the resort by email while we were stuck in Doha and they sent the speedboat transfer to collect us when we arrived. We were greeted by a very smiley lady with a board with our name on at the airport and escorted through to our boat. This attention to detail was what made this whole holiday a delight.
From the attentive welcome with iced drinks and cool towels when we arrived to the very moment we left, the staff were all fabulous particularly Nidxin, one of the managers who was exceptional at his job and appeared to be organising everything with polite professionalism everywhere we were.
The accommodation is basic so if you want luxury this is not the resort for you but it was clean and comfortable with water delivered every day to your villa and clean towels every day.
The villas are all on the beach and the sea with the reef is a stones throw from opening your door. When we visited the resort was only a third full so there were a couple of occasions when I had the sea and beach all to myself. Total bliss!!
There is only one restaurant, very casual with a sandy floor but plenty of choices for all meals. All buffet except breakfast which also had an eggs and pancakes station.
Choices varied from curries to salad bar to western choices and on the fully inclusive package plenty of beer, wine and water.
There are two bars, one open only in the day and is not on the fully inclusive package but prices are reasonable if you fancy a sundowner cocktail. The main bar offered various entertainment over the time we were there and polite and efficient waiter service.
We had put on our booking form that it was my birthday during our trip and booked one of the excursions to a sandspit for a picnic on the day. This trip was truly awesome. Three hours in the middle of the ocean with a lovely picnic, drinks and towels and a big umbrella and a trip on a traditional fishing boat there and back. 100% recommend.
Later that day at dinner I was presented with a birthday cake and all the waiters singing happy birthday to me. Just gorgeous! and when we went back to the villa the bed had all been decorated with flowers and happy birthday messages. This attention to detail makes this place truly special.
My husband used the dive centre most days during our trip and found them to be very professional and he enjoyed a different dive site every day and chatting to other divers in the evenings.
We also used the spa several times and although tiny we had a great experience each time.
All in all I would recommend this resort for a rustic beach holiday for relaxation and snorkelling or diving.

Really, the island is a piece of paradise for all the honeymoon goers. We had booked for the beach front deluxe villa, and I would say it is one of the nicest spot you can get along the island. As a honeymoon couple, our room was decorated specially with flowers in the shape of heart and also we had an amazing candle light dinner, with perfect sound of ocean water. I really appreciate the service from the Front office Manager Mr. Vinod and the bar attender Nidhin Thomas who extended their service over and beyond and all other staff who welcomed us whole heartedly and with a smiling face throughout our stay.

Returned yesterday after 2 weeks at my ‘happy place’

It was our 3rd visit to Eriyadu, the last time was 9 years ago and I was hoping that not too much had changed so was delighted that it hadn’t. There is the addition of the turtle beach bar, the bathrooms in the beach villas had been refurbished which was great also the block of sky rooms is a new addition, they look onto a beautiful stretch of white sand.
The clientele had changed, last time the island had loads of divers but we didn’t see any this time so it felt busier and there were quite a few groups of families/ friends, this however didn’t distract from our holiday experience.
The only other thing which has changed is that in the restaurant you no longer get allocated a table for your holiday with the same waiter, it’s now ‘free dining’ you sit where you want and have a number of waiters on that section to look after you. I prefer it the old way however we did get the same table every meal time and we had the wonderful Hussain to look after us as he did on our first visit in 2013. In all the times I’ve been to the Maldives and indeed around the world, Hussain is the only waiter I remembered by name. He really is THAT good. He works incredibly hard and is so lovely to everyone. He’s also very kind, gracious and talented.
The food was very good and Nidhin, the restaurant and bar manager does a fabulous job, he’s a lovely guy and very accommodating.

The beach villas are managed by Faya, I honestly think that man would move mountains for you if you asked him too. So very helpful and happy, he really wants you have a great time. The rooms are spacious with a comfy super king size bed and great pillows. The bathrooms are also large with an indoor shower over a bath and an additional shower which is open to the elements. Both had plenty of hot water and decent pressure. Beach towels are changed daily and bathroom towels every couple of days.
The island is fogged every Saturday afternoon to help control bugs, we had no problems, a couple of bites but we expected that. No problem with anything in our room.

There’s usually something going on in the evenings at the blitz bar, crab racing, solo singer, dive centre presentation etc or you can just sit in a quiet spot over the ocean.
Salinga is the star in here, he is always working hard but makes time to have a chat with you. He’s very interesting and funny and a joy to be around.

Our departure from the island was at 3.30pm, our flight at 8.25pm, this was perfect, time to grab a drink and a bite to eat before checking in.
We were waved off by Mr Moddy the GM, a few other staff and the beautiful Hussain.
I just want to say, if you read this, thank you so much for looking after us so well. We all miss you and hope to see you again ❤️

Hoping to return in January.

Had a fabulous week here and would return as the island is absolutely gorgeous and the reef is out of this world. All the staff were brilliant and really helpful and friendly and the buffet always served a selection of hot and cold dishes to suit most tastes. Our room had a fantastic access to the beach and it was kept spotlessly clean although it really could do with a refurb as the furniture was very tired and old, this said it didn’t detract from the enjoyment of our holiday and the bed was one of the comfiest I’ve slept in. We had the all inclusive plus package from blue bay travel but we could have managed with the bog standard all inclusive as the drinks we mostly had were already included in that, one of the reasons we upgraded was for use of the beach bar which is a total waste of time as it’s hardly open and when it is he doesn’t believe you are entitled to get a drink there, I think we had a couple of drinks during our time there and it’s only beer or soft drinks included no cocktails ect unless you pay. We went not expecting great things but have been pleasantly surprised although we aren’t people who go with the intention of picking a place to bits the resort could do with a bit of care to the pier, bar decking ect as bits look shabby but the feel of the place is friendly and comfortable. We paid a very good price and the holiday was an amazing one with great memories.

First, your company promised to me that you would arrange a boat transfer on arrival and we had paid for that. But the fact was we had to wait at airport for 2 hrs. All the tourists were left at a waiting place with no sufficient seats to have a rest and no explanation of the situation though we demanded it. Worse still, the quality of the accommodation was horrible.... I do not believe that this is a 3 -star hotel – as your company claimed it to be – could provide such a room.

Our first room was on the edge of the island, just 5 meter away from the sea and safety was our big concern there and room was full of cockroaches and big ants. We had left many requests for a room change as we couldn’t sleep there properly but hotel people always denied it and It was life threatening moments, especially if you are traveling with 7 years old kid.

And On 5th day weather was bad and towering waves hit the room and room was flooded and sands everywhere in the room as seen in the picture. I ran to reception(dont wonder, intercom doesn’t work) for a room change again they said we are running full. Hence, we will send a person to clean the room. As a last option, we contacted our agent and they took 3 hrs for a room change. It was very terrified moments.

We assumed that we will be happy at second room, unfortunately second room was horrible than the first one. Cockroaches and ants everywhere as usual and It’s bathroom had very bad sewer smell. Since the wax ring of closet won’t have an airtight seal over the drainpipe. strong odor from wash room —made us want to run away. “Run for your life!” you may have said to yourself. Other times, Were you going to get sick?It may cause for infections and other diseases. Again hotel had no responsibility on it and we decided to change the hotel. It do not appear the cleanliness and pest control is important to this hotel, if it had appeared in both rooms

Still more, the resort is not a safe place to walk around as everywhere dried coconuts are about to fall on your head at any time.(pics are attached). I will take hours and many pages, if I write about their service and food. Are they doing this as charity? The worst hotel, I have ever stayed in!!!

A quick google has come up with the following: Yes, drones are allowed at Eriyadu Island Resort in the Maldives, but only in designated areas: Area 1, Area 2, and Dream Island. Guests are advised to sign a disclaimer with the Guest Services Team or Front Office Team before flying a drone.

Does anyone know the cost of boat transfer to the resort? Thanks

Whilst the boat transfers were included in the holiday price we got caught up in the Dubai airport nonsense in April 2024 and returned to Eriyadu for a couple of additional nights waiting another flight. The resort taxi boat was already shuttling other passengers and we paid $160 for 2 people return journey - so $40 each person each way. I wouldn’t like to say though if that’s the normal charge but at least it’s a guide price.

We didn't have to pay any departure taxes, back to the UK, via Doha.
