This was our second visit to the Maldives, and we chose the island based on close location to male, the choice of locations to eat and the pool villas.
We arrived about 09:30 after a short boat ride(more of that later) the island was beautiful and the pictures really don’t do it justice. We checked in and were luck to be able to have our room straight away. I think others have commented on the slightly tired look of some rooms, again ours showed signs of wear and tear, damaged hinges on the wardrobes, patched decking etc but nothing too bad. We did have some ants around the fridge but the supplied bug spray kept them at bay 🙂 cleanliness did seem to vary, as the staff changed mid week the standard did drop off.
We tried all the restaurants, and our favourite was Stars closely followed surprisingly by the buffet. This really was excellent and even though we had the all inclusive with option to use all the restaurants we kept coming back due to the great staff and food choice.
We did also have a couple of extras, champagne and flowers for our honeymoon and a birthday cake at Stars, very nice however as we pointed out we were not on honeymoon, and neither of us had a birthday during our visit.......once pointed out reception sent champagne and fruit as we were VIP 😂😂😂
Apart from this the service and welcome from the team on the island was fantastic.
However, one area I fed back to the manager and unfortunately never received an answer on was the transfers. On the way to the island it was quite rough, the team did slow a little but it was still quite a harsh, bumpy trip of 40’
On the return we had to be at reception no later than 15:50, arrived on time then sat around for 30’ when we were shown to the jetty, they seemed confused as to what happening and sent the first boat way !! The second boat we shared with staff members heading home which wasn’t a concern, however the crew seemed to be on a mission and even though the sea was very rough they insisted on going flat out crashing into the larger waves, we arrived in male 30’ later both with back pain and our clothes soaked....just what you need before a long haul flight. We did explain to the crew we were unhappy with the transfer, however they seemed totally indifferent.
So this really is a 5 star island, just a 1 star transfer service

For anyone looking for a honeymoon location recommendation, we would highly recommend staying at the Coco Bodu Hithi resort with Full Board accommodation.
To start off, we were warmly greeted by our travel agent at the airport and after a half an hour wait, we were guided to our speedboat. The journey was about 45 mins or so and when we arrived at the island, we were pleasantly greeted by Cigdem, our contact at the island. Cigdem was extremely pleasant and very helpful in guiding us through the island and talking us through their informative and detailed welcome pack. She then escorted us to our Island Villa where our luggage was waiting for us at the door.
Our island villa was simply amazing! We were left absolutely speechless in how perfect the villa was and how much it looked exactly like the pictures from the website. In fact, the villa looked much better in real life! Our bed had a lovely ‘Happy Honeymoon’ message on it which was very cutely written in palm tree leaves. Our private pool, the patio, outside bed were all exceptionally clean and very well maintained.
But we must say, the feature of our Island Villa which really excited us the most, was our very own private beach area at the back, which was east facing, which meant it was perfect for those early morning sunrise views, which we enjoyed very much. The private beach also allowed us to go snorkelling whenever we wanted, snorkelling equipment was free to hire for the duration of our stay.
The food at the buffet area provided us with a variety of different meals and cuisines, they also had a live food station where they had different ingredients with which they cooked a fresh meal for you right in front of you, plus they had different themes every night. The chefs at the food station were very friendly, and greeted us with a warm smile every time we visited. There are a few other à la carte restaurants on the island, which need to be pre-booked in order to eat there, which we highly recommend as the food is absolutely sublime! But, in the instance you forget or are unable to book tables at any of those à la carte restaurants, you need not worry as the buffet area will always have you covered with delicious food each and every night.
Activities such as the sunset cruise, floating breakfast to your villa, private pergola dinner, spa treatments, and photoshoots are activities we did and highlight recommend them, but they all need to be pre-booked in advance, but well worth the booking as you will be left with beautiful life-long memories. There are other activities available which you can enquire with your rep.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time and stay at Coco Bodu Hithi resort. It was an absolutely beautiful experience and has left us with memories we will cherish forever, we will definitely come back here to celebrate another special occasion.

We just left the resort today. What an amazing place. We stayed in an overwater bungalow which was roomy with lovely amenities, beautiful bathroom and stunning views. Everything was clean with surprisingly good water pressure and hot water.
The wifi was excellent, much better than our hotel in Male.
I can’t say enough about the staff and how friendly and accommodating everyone was. From the maintenance people to management everyone always greeted you and had a smile. Ahmed served us each morning always there with a smile and the hostess ( can’t remember her name) greeted us each day like an old friend.
The food was good and as mentioned in other reviews somewhat expensive. The restaurant prices were similar to other five star hotels but the buffet I thought was a little high.
The nightly entertainment was an added treat.
I visited the spa and Rean ( sp.) gave me the most amazing massage. The spa ambience was excellent.
The resort is spread out with little beaches here and there and no where seemed busy even though they were full.
We asked for a villa near the house reef which we got , it was so nice to go down the stairs and be feet from the reef. So many different fish always something to look at including the turtles.
As much as we loved being this close to the reef it does have a down side. That side of the island is a bit rougher and we had some windy days with waves. Well those wave crash into you villa slapping up underneath , all night long, thus the earplugs. I had some and they did the trick.
If you are not fussed about the reef ( you can get there via a small little beach ) I would stay on the west side of the resort, Mother Nature is much quieter on that side.
It was quite rough when we left in the speed boat but the driver was excellent and his skill was obvious, we got to the jetty safe and sound, slightly damp but otherwise all good.
Something of note was that about 10 minutes into the ride to Male I asked my husband where his glasses were , good question he says.... long story short, he left them at the resort, we contacted them and they delivered them to our hotel in Male within a few hours well in time for us to catch our flight.
We were so impressed.
Thanks Coco , we had the most terrific time.

We spent a short but beautiful time on the island. Coco Bodu Hithi is surely a spot for people who enjoy a large island and vast vegetation as well as anonymity. The last was actually a little "minus" if you want a call it like that - there are a lot of guests and therefore it's way more impersonal compared to other islands in the Maledives we experienced. Nevertheless, the Island Villa is absolutely stunning in size and equipment as well as service and cleanliness. You enjoy a lot of privacy and a beautiful pristine little private beach access. But bring mosquito repellent: the private pool is beautiful but thanks to the walls around it, it is a little tropical and humid paradise for the little insects. We could simply not be in this part of the Villa cause we were eaten alive by the mosquitos.
We are passionate snorkelers and there is an interesting but surely not the best reef in the Maledives. If Snorkeling is your main activity, we would not choose this Resort.
If anyone needs this information: the other guests were, as far as we can judge that, mainly from Asia, maybe China and a mix of Europeans. We felt very comfortable with the other guests and had some nice encounters :-)
The food is delicious and the buffet is stunning. We have never seen anything like that. Great variety and quality. Moreover, we want to mention the stunning Spa and the friendly staff, especially Mamun at the Spa gave us a lot of interesting information and was especially taking care of us - thank you!
As we spent our honeymoon there, we also had one "free romantic dinner" at the à la carte restaurant over water. To be honest, we expected a little more... it wasn't romantic as there wasn't even a candle on the table or anything like that. The menu was given and we couldn't choose. It's simply a dinner at the à la carte and no romantic honeymoon experience, as we had it in other resorts on the Maledives. Maybe this has to be rephrased.
To end with a positive comment, we'd like to say thank you for the great food and service on spot, we can surely recommend the Resort.

+1
We stayed at Coco Bodu Hithi for our honeymoon in December. Everything was amazing. From the point we landed and came out the baggage area, the Coco staff take over and make your stay hassle free and very pleasant. Misbah really helped us with our luggage on arrival and departure. He ensures you have an easy time at the airport on your arrival and even on your departure, he helps you check in.
Shammoon was our butler and was really helpful, he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant and amazing. We didn’t have to really do anything as he does it all for you from the comfort of your Villa (check in was also done in our room). You can contact him via WhatsApp at anytime and he organises your meals, excursions, spa bookings and anything else you need.
We stayed in room 622, Coco Residence Villa. It was near the end so was very private, the Villa itself was spacious and the views were beautiful.
All the staff were really helpful, friendly and kind. Adam from housekeeping did a wonderful job keeping the Villa very clean.
Neelam and Ahmed at the restaurant were always welcoming and made sure we had everything we wanted. Himal at the spa really helps you get the best spa treatments during your stay, I highly recommend visiting the spa during your stay.
The staff at the bar were very kind also, they made nice Sheesha’s using Al-Fakher flavours. Moosa was another friendly staff member at the bar who was always helpful.
The resort also has COVID rules in place for the safety of it’s guests. Shammoon helped us organise PCR tests we needed for further travel (this is done on the island), the staff are always wearing masks (indoors and outdoors), temperature tests are taken at the restaurant and communal areas are frequently cleaned. We felt very safe staying here and didn’t feel like there was a Covid risk with all they precautions they had in place.
I highly recommend trying the Private Pagola, It is a 5 course meal at night on the beach in a beautiful setting. It was worth every penny.
I would highly recommend staying here, not just for the amazing and beautiful views from every angle of the island, but also because of the staff who make your stay truly wonderful.

The Pictures don’t do justice to the location. It’s the most beautiful location I have stayed in .
Magdalena and Baria were absolutely amazing and support us on any need. Staff from Air restaurant were very friendly and welcoming and all the staff on this resort were polite and respectful. On our last day we got a complimentary extension to stay till late night freely because of the timing of our flight time.
We staid in both beach villa and on water villa. Both are fabulous.
Coco Residence (water villa) has rooms larger than most properties. Aside from the large bedroom, it has a separate living room, and a huge deck with loungers, sunbeds, swimming pool, comes with its own private butler. You can get down to the lagoon from your deck for snorkeling.
Bathroom has his and hers sink a huge tub in the middle of the bathroom and floor glass doors that open up to the deck. Food at the buffet restaurant was excellent. Definitely well above average selection of food items.
I am sure my next stay in Maldives will only be again in Coco Budo Hotel
Magdalena and Baria were absolutely amazing and support us on any need. Staff from Air restaurant were very friendly and welcoming and all the staff on this resort were polite and respectful. On our last day we got a complimentary extension to stay till late night freely because of the timing of our flight time.

We are currently at Coco Bodu Hithi and are having a fantastic time. Today is my husband’s
70th birthday and the photo attached shows their attention to detail ..very nice surprise.
Everything is perfect. Beautiful island, fantastic wildlife and fish. Seen several turtles at close quarters. Watching them feeding is fabulous. Also seen rays and sharks ... including a full grown shark. The snorkelling is fantastic.
Some of the day trips to other islands and Male are cancelled due to corona virus but there are plenty of other things to do. We went traditional fishing yesterday with just a line. It was great fun and the guys on board were very patient with helping two novices. There are all the water sports you can think of , paddle boarding, kayak, jet skiing, parasailing, speedboats and the latest jet powered boots. Nothing is too much trouble and one young man towed my husband around on a snorkelling trip because he is not a good swimmer.
We asked to change rooms to an island villa from a water villa because of a high pitch noise from the pool pump. (I am sensitive to these noises) . Cigdem helped us out and within 4 hours we were moved. To be honest the island villas are much more secluded and bigger than the water villa and you have access direct to the beach. We are very happy with this wonderful villa.
All the staff are fantastic . I commend them all.
If we have to be isolated due to corona then please let it be here!! It would be lovely to spend two weeks more in paradise.

From the moment we set foot onto this amazing island, the service from all the staff was impeccable and one you could not fault. From the hosts, to the chefs, waiters, room attendants, and garden maintenance staff. They were all so friendly and made our stay very welcoming.
We were a bit weary to travel with Covid 19, but felt so safe at Coco Bodu Hithi.
We celebrated my mothers 60th birthday and our amazing host Raj setup a table on the beach after sunset with a special meal prepared by the Executive Chef Indika. We were blown away with the amount of effort that went into this to make my mother's birthday feel so special.
My father went on a couple of dive trips which he enjoyed, although he said was very sad to see the bleaching of the coral around the island due to global warming (however is slowly coming back) and got up close to see Galileo the resident turtle . We spoke with Ida (Island Marine Biologist) regarding this and she was so full of knowledge and taught us so much about the marine life on the island, she was amazing and so warm and inviting.
We spent 5 nights in this magical paradise and spent our days swimming, snorkeling, diving, relaxing, eating and many cocktails from the amazing bar onsite.
Due to Covid 19 many of the restaurants were closed so the choices of food were quiet limited, however the chefs would always make a special meal or accommodate for this (try Indika's Sri Lankan curries as absolutely delicious!!)
Nahil was our waiter most nights and words cannot describe his fantastic service in the restaurant, he is a true asset to Coco Bodu Hithi.
Ibrahim our housekeeper, again was so sweet and always went the extra effort in cleaning and restocking our rooms. He even surprised us with this amazing handmade display on my parents bed when we got back from the birthday dinner (photos attached) we were so blown away by his talent and spending time going the extra mile. Another huge asset to Coco Bodu Hithi.
The weather was stable most of the time, apart from a few stormy nights and a couple of rainy days. But when you live in Dubai it is absolute bliss! as very rare here.
We stayed in the Coco Residence which was so spacious, over the water, had a spectacular view, incredible bathroom, a shower that overlooked the ocean, separate dressing/wardrobe area (great for getting ready in the evenings) and an amazing private infinity pool. We could not have asked for a better room, as they thought of everything, even a proper hairdryer!.
All in all an amazing holiday, and will definitely be back.
Thank you so much again to all the staff who made our stay everything we could hope for. Raj, Nahil, Ibrahim, Harshit and Indika along with all your teams management are blessed to have you and we hope to see you all again soon.
Would highly recommend!!

We spent 9 nights family holiday with our 2 grown up children at this most AMAZING resort. Only 40 mins speed boat ride from Male airport.
We had 2 Escape Water Villa - one on the sunrise side & one the sunset side so we can have both views. The villas are very spacious, very clean & glorious view. Outside sun deck have direct excess to the sea & reef. Also a lovely plunge pool to cool off.
Resort have a huge pool as well as many lounger you can sit if you want to get out of your villa......... also beach all around the whole island. Dive & water sport centre where you can hire life jackets & snorkelling masks for free but we took our own. There’s quite a few restaurants outlets which we tried all & much say the food is so delicious & great choices.
The whole holiday was made extra special with ALL the staffs........ from the moment we checked in. Just like to thank EVERYONE for looking after us & made this holiday very special. THANK YOU!

Princes Risborough, United Kingdom351 contributions152 helpful votesWhat type of travel adaptor, if any, do I need when visiting from the UK?
They use type G and D. Type G is the same as UK. However, it could be a good idea to have a Type D converter just in case.
They have 2 menus for snacks just ask for the all inclusive one.
There are lots of sunbeds each villa has its own, there are also sun beds at the pool.
Hi if your stay of the water villas you walk along the path to the beach - so yes access but not direct access. The beach villas have direct access, these villas where stunning! we stayed in one and really enjoyed the experience.
We also stayed at Coco, but preferred the ease of access to the beach. the beach and water villa (not coco) have the best snorkelling. That said its all a short walk.
Minutes away, if you do not have beach villa you will not have a sunbed there!
Yes there is a tennis court, just behind the main reception (you can see it on Google Earth). You can borrow rackets from reception
