A beautiful hideaway nestled into the Australian bush near the famed Glass House Mountains and Sunshine Coast beaches, inspired by Steve’s life, legacy and love for wild places. Steve had an incredible bond with wildlife from a young age and made it his mission to make the world a better place. Today, the Irwin family continue Steve’s legacy by leading conservation efforts around the world and protecting wild places. The Crocodile Hunter Lodge has an exciting multi-species habitat which is home to red kangaroos, emus and koalas. Guests can admire these wonderful animals while sitting in the outdoor dining area of Warrior restaurant or relaxing in the infinity pool. The lodge has also created a new home for Australia Zoo’s southern koalas, who were sadly victims of the 2020 bushfire season. These koalas share their new home at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge with Australia’s most unusual species, the echidna.

We stayed at the lodge overnight as a birthday treat for my wife. There are 8 lodges at the location, with ours able to accommodate 4 adults (1x queen? and 2x singles, in the two bedrooms). The lodge also had a lounge area, kitchen and bathroom.

The booking had benefits of access to Australia Zoo on the day of arrival and departure, and the Australia Zoo Wildlife hospital.

While staying at the lodge we were looked after by staff members Mel who was on the front desk, with Riley and Kathy on restaurant and bar duties. The food and drink were top class, and you could watch the chefs at work in the kitchen while you dined. You could enjoy this dining experience inside or outside depending on your preference.

The stay also allowed use of the nearby heated infinity styled swimming pool, where you could view the emus, koalas and kangaroos in the adjacent area, called the billabong.

The breakfast was complimentary to the booking, and was prepared by the chefs to the same standard as the evening meal.

Of note, next to reception was a small gift area, a tank with two snakes, and just outside the main entrance, a koala in a tree.

I'm informed that there is a shuttle bus service from the lodge to Australia Zoo. We didn't use this service as we had a hire car during our trip to Queensland.

Overall it was pleasant stay with good food, friendly staff, and lovely facilities. To my memory, I cannot fault any part.

We had three lodges and was a party of 10 ( aged 14-74) at this absolutely amazing resort for us (visiting from the UK) and family in Australia who had never been to Australia Zoo. Being big fans of Steve Irwin it was a must for us to stay here after a day at the zoo. The resort is breathtaking to see such beautiful wildlife free to roam was just so special. The lodges have been created to such a high standard and have everything you need from toiletries to Dyson hairdryer to tea/coffee making facilities.
The heated infinity pool was perfect to take an early evening dip in, although the resort was sold out we had the pool to ourselves so was able to relax and watch the koalas in the trees and the kangaroos bounce around, just perfect!
The restaurant just WOW! The food (dinner & breakfast) was amazing and the staff were simply fantastic so polite and helpful.
If your thinking about staying here I would highly recommend it we will definitely be returning when we come back to Oz.

We spent 10 days in Australia and made the journey to the Australia Zoo and a stay at the Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter Lodge. As big fans of the family, we couldn’t wait to experience the zoo, when we found out they recently opened a boutique resort outside of the zoo, we knew we needed to splurge for a night. They opened earlier in 2022 and have done an amazing job with the design and service. Each of the individual cabins comes with a kitchenette, one or two bedrooms, a sitting room and a little deck. As guests, you get free access to the zoo so we spent our first morning at the zoo after check in, returned to the resort for a dip in the gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks an enclosed field of ranging kangaroos and emus, and then went back to the zoo the next morning. We had reservations at the Warrior restaurant on property for dinner and the included brekkie. We both enjoyed the food and thought the breakfast was particularly good. What also stood out to us was the service and the extra attention to detail. We were given a very nice gift bag (I won’t spoil the surprise but it’s more than what you would expect.) and since it was Valentine’s Day, we were given a rose, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a nice hand written card! Our cabin had a bird watching book so in the morning, I made a pot of coffee and sat on the deck and tried to identify the scores of birds that were singing to us from the nearby trees. It was just perfect! Finally-we must call out the kind staff. Gary and Jason shuttled us back and forth to the zoo and chatted with us. Kim and Charlie checked us in and made a point to inquire several times about our stay and if we had experienced this or that. Everyone we encountered at the lodge seemed genuinely happy to have us as guests. Basically, everything about our stay was a big highlight for the entire time in Australia and I would wholeheartedly recommend putting this on your list!

This place exceeded my (high) expectations! The two bedroom one bathroom fully self contained cottage was beautiful. We wanted for nothing. I had a few groceries delivered on the day of our arrival (prior to our arrival) and the say unpacked them and put them all away. The restaurant is magnificent and the infinity pool is crazy beautiful. The courtesy mini bus to the Zoo was fantastic. We loved every moment of our stay and we'll be back next year.

We stayed in cabin 10 which backs up to nature and provided privacy while you sit on the back balcony with large cushioned lounge chairs and watch wildlife.

The staff throughout the property were extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive to every need. At check in we were given a goodie bag with magazines about the zoo and Irwin family, and several little things.

The room was more like your own cabin than a hotel room. It was very spacious with nice sitting area that has Robert’s Australia photo book, a full sized kitchen to prepare meals if you want to, a nice large bath with a tub and separate rain shower. The bedroom was good size, had ample room to set your suitcases on a bench, a very comfortable bed and storge. There was also a carport for your car. Truly spectacular accommodations.

The following morning we were to meet someone at the zoo and the times got changed so the driver of the shuttle didn’t just drop us off but waited until we got connected to our Platnium Tour guide before he left us. Very friendly, very professional.

We ate dinner and breakfast the following morning before off to the zoo 1st thing the next morning. The restaurant was large and had lots of indoor space and an outdoor patio space that overlooked a wildlife area that has local Australian animals: kangaroos, emus, and koalas and the large infinity pool. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant is just down the hall from the checkin counter and there were 2 animal exhibits here too.

We only stayed one night prior to going to the zoo the next day and wish we could have stayed longer and not been so rushed but that was all the time we had this trip. All the staff on the lodge property and even the zoo had an exceptionally positive attitude which made for a great experience! We are already talking of when we can go back and spend more time here and explore more of Queensland.

Ok, so, it's expensive!
But then you have to think about what you are getting.

We stayed in a three bedroom lodge with family visiting for a couple of nights. It was great as you get a free shuttle bus to the Zoo, whenever you like even if you want to go in the morning, come back and go back again in the afternoon.
The entry into the Zoo is included and as we were staying two nights we could gain entry for three days, if we wanted to.
Breakfast at the Lodge was included too!
So if you break all this down, we thought, it was reasonable. This isn't even mentioning the accommodation, the location and convenience of everything.

The Lodges aren't 'just' log cabins, they are high quality accommodation with all the amenities you would need.

If you want something different and you want to do it in style, well, do I need to say anymore?

A huge 'thank you' to Ashleigh, who helped with our booking and answering my numerous questions and telling us extra nuggets of gold to get the best out of our stay.
For example: Going to the Lodge first, before room booking in time, to get the shuttle bus to the Zoo on our first day. Enjoying the Zoo for half a day and planning what we'd be doing the following (full) day.
All of the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and we even chatted to the Keeper who was feeding the animals in the paddock next to the pool.
Yes, we were in the infinity pool which looked out onto a paddock of Emus, Kangas and a couple of Koloas. What a treat!

The food in the Lodge restaurant was top quality, as was the breakfast and the drinks around the pool.
We felt that everything was SO well thought of. Well done to the whole crew who work there.

We had an absolute wonderful stay here. It's beautiful. We visited the zoo on the day and did the giraffe feeding encounter. Later in the day, we drove to our accommodation for the night. Kim and Ashley on reception were lovely and checking in and out was simple, quick and easy. After unpacking, we walked to the pool area passing kangaroos, koalas and emus, for a swim in the infinity pool where we also had cocktails and drinks by the pool. The staff were so lovely, bringing us lunch menus and making suggestions regarding the cocktails. We then headed back to the gorgeous two bedroom cabin to relax and get ready for dinner. The restaurant is beautiful. The food was outstanding, although the portions are a little on the small side. In saying that, the restaurant is fine dining and the quality is outstanding. You cannot fault the staff. Katie, Dan, Lissy and Kathy.... you are all an asset to The Crocodile Hunter Lodge. Your customer service was outstanding and we had the most enjoyable day/night/stay with you. Truly amazing. We headed back to the restaurant for breakfast the following morning and Nikky was lovely. Nikky, you made the best coffee and hot chocolate we have ever had. After breakfast, we headed back to the zoo and did the eagle encounter which was great too. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday one of the best we have had. We cannot return soon enough. The Crocodile Lodge is lucky to have you all.

If you want an accommodation with the nature, choose here. I stayed in cabin 7 and was able to view kangaroos grazing at the grasses early in the morning. An at the poolside, you will be able to have view of some of the Australian animals such as kangaroos, emu, koala, various bird sightings, etc. Although the complimentary breakfast was not the typical breakfast buffet spread, you are able to choose any of the main course on the menu with add-ons, and 2 glasses of beverage. Last but the least, the service staff were excellent, friendly & helpful.

This was an easy 5-Stars to give!

Besides the immaculate setting and amazing facilities, it is the staff that really make this place.

We travelled as couples with two small children and no question was too hard and nothing was too much of an ask. The infinity pool was a massive hit and the restaurant was amazing for breakfast and dinner.

Easy access to the Australian Zoo with a shuttle to take you there and back at just the call of the radio.

Special shout out to Kim. She really went above and beyond for us and was just great to have a chat with.

If anyone is second guessing coming here, don’t. It is amazing.

Door to door service as often as you like to Australia Zoo included. Every staff member a credit to the brand, smiles, welcoming, interactive and eager to please.
