It was my first time in Tonga and the stay was beautiful, beachside location, watching whales all the time from the terrace and the best sunsets ever. The staff is very friendly and they are very willing to help with whatever you need all the time. The food is delicius and you also can ask for a vegetarian or vegan option (They offer a lot of vegetales in a place where its really difficult to find them) There is a table with Water to drink (you can refill your bottle everytime) hot Water and herbs for free all day. The rooms are spacious, with private bathroom and all very clean and comfortable If you come to EUA Hideaway is the place! Thank you very much Marta and all of your staff for everything💙🐳 Maló lahi!!!

This is well located and the view is amazing. You can enjoy sunset with whale passing. The owner is very nice and will do everything to help you. Dinner is ok, maybe expensive for what it is. Rooms, shower, sheets and mattress were dirty.

Hideaway has only just reopened after being flattened by Gita. We didn't stay there as we had found lodgings with a Tongan family but went there to have dinner one night. Marta is amazing, she opened the kitchen especially for us and we had a wonderful time drinking beers on the platform while the sun set over the ocean, then a simple dinner of fresh tuna, kumara and salad. Chatted to Marta for ages, she is wonderful and a huge asset to Hideaway. It's open again so start going back people, it's the best place on 'Eua.

I only spend one afternoon in Hideaway and had dinner, because i was staying in Ovava Lodge, but in my experience the people here, specially Naite and Marta were just so friendly and welcoming. I met Marta as guide in "swimming with whales" and it was just fabulous, she was taking care of all the guest, going into the water as soon as Kiko said to her, and during the time in the boat, she explain us a lot of things about whales. If this wasn´t enough when we were into the water and other people (coming with Linaly from Ovava Lodge) came into the water (what is forbidden) she prioritized our safety and took us out the water, respecting the whales. After that experience i was really happy to do this activity with this other company, and decide to spend at Hideaway the afternoon. You can see the whales just in front of the lodge....and the dinner was so good...big enough and yummy... In my opinion, the best option to be in Eua

Loved 'Eua! Definitely go. I really enjoyed my three nights at the Hideaway. Highlights are socializing with other guests, the viewing platform where you can watch whales all day, and the proximity to a lovely village. We went to a gorgeous church service and then to lunch at a local family's. Rooms are comfortable and clean, with plenty of outlets. The hot water is really hit or miss. I took more cold showers than warm. Make sure to take beer or other alcoholic beverages with you - none are for sale at the lodge and it's a haul to the "liquor store" in a guy's garage by the Catholic church. I would also suggest taking plenty of snacks as well as some breakfast food. Breakfast and coffee are only served starting at 8 AM, so if you are leaving on whale tours, etc before then, nothing will be available to do. Potable rainwater is available to fill up your water bottles. You can't swim right at the Hideaway but there is a nice sandy beach about a 10 minute walk away. We rode around on the island on the Hideaway's bikes. They are not in super shape but get the job done! All the local kids will come out to wave and say "bye!" Definitely go whale swimming with Kiko - he is amazing and has a magical ability to find whales who will interact with you. There are adorable pigs on the property - newborn piglets when we were there!
