Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed there for one night. I have chosen it, due to a close location to the beach, but when we got there, we could see, that all motels are close to the water. Overall, it was OK, but the first impression was: dirty windows and door on the outside.
It didn't look nice. It was also a hot day, and the room was hot and there was no way to cool it down. On the plus side, the spa bath was excellent.

We enjoyed our stay but will not stay again.Over priced for what it is and had a bad experience with management over charging. Not happy that our credit card was used for an over site on there part.It was sorted out but should not have happened in the first place.Be careful.

This is a convenient location, walking distance to beach, restaurants and shops. The room was funky. Seemed like they tried to update it recently, but chose really outdated decor. The front of the room had a full wall of windows and was ground floor. To have privacy, it was necessary to close all of the draperies, which made it drab and dark inside. The window in the bathroom also had a view into neighboring apartments. It was fine for one night's stay and was convenient.

There was a great little family-run pizza shop across the street

When you walk into a motel and the reception reeks of cigarette smoke it doesn't fill you with confidence or high expectations. Unfortunately we were right, the room was filthy. Glass table was covered in dust, kitchen wall was covered in fat , the microwave covered in some orange gunk and the shower caddy had black scum on the inside. For $200 a night for the five of us you would expect a lot more and we have had a lot more for the same price, even with us being a walk in. (We had been booked into copperfield for 3 weeks). Beware the photos on their website do not reflect how run down and tired this place is. Very very disappointed.

Response from Robyn G, Manager at Copperfield Seaside Motel

We are horrified to read this. I wonder about the reasons for it. Before making decisions on Copperfield from this review, I would suggest that any prospective guest go to the Booking.com reviews, where they only allow totally verified and bona fide guests to review their stays. Booking.com reviews tell a totally different story.

The accommodation was in a higgly piggly mishmash of building right in the heart of the village by the sea. It was an easy walk to cafe's, restaurants, Saturday market and the ocean. Great for families as an awesome park across the road too.
HOWEVER - the upstairs accommodation was very cold, grubby in some parts, shower door stained, crumbs and rubbish on the floor etc... Beds were rock hard. Fridge very noisy. But roomy and spacious which I loved. We booked this accommodation six months ago when we visited this area to check it out for a family wedding. I phoned a month ago and had to deal with a temp manager who was insanely rude, I had to hang up and phone him back a few hours later. He was also very confused and was unable to make a simple booking. When we arrived at our accommodation he blew a fuse and yelled at us. We were desperate and need ed this accommodation so spent ages calming him down and worked our way to a booking. This man is crazy! I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone.

Stayed two nights. Motel units are really clean and the service is friendly. On site restaurant was cheap but food very budget and not what we had expected. However Italian restaurant on site far superior.

We needed to visit Paraparaumu for a family funeral and this motel became our base. While the decor was somewhat dated, it was clean & well looked after. The bathroom had a spa bath but we didn't try it. There were only tea making facilities but the cleaner gave us fresh cups etc each morning. Fresh towels were provided each morning too. We found the unit close to the beach & perfect for our needs.

We've stayed here a couple of times now and we were very disappointed this trip. The one bed apartment was in a good place around the back of the hotel so very quiet with own parking space. The spa bath was great and the cooking facilities were well equipped. Unfortunately the downside was this; all the beds including the sofa bed were really uncomfortable, there was old food under the queen bed and the sofa, one of the kitchen pots had a lot of old food still caked on. But the biggest issue for us was we booked with an infant and the apartment is upstairs, we found a stair gate in a wardrobe but it was broken. I went to ask if they had another one from reception to which they were aware it had been broken by previous guests but still had it in the room and still hadn't replaced it. It wasn't a requirement of the room and it didn't state it in the room amenities but it really would have helped keep the little one safe.
On the plus side too the rooms all had heaters so it was lovely and warm and the staff were friendly.

I have stayed at the Copperfield Seaside Motel three times now. The first two visits were for a single night staying in one of the smaller rooms (a different room each time) and the final, longer stay in one of the apartments. I am surprised at the poor reviews given by other former guests as we (myself and my husband) had no such problems. Our accommodation was clean and quiet. The apartment in particular was spacious, well equipped and we thought was excellent value for money. I could have stayed there quite happily for far longer and was sorry to leave. I actually grew up in the area and an returning as often as possible to visit elderly family. The location of the motel, and the facilities it provides are ideal for our needs and we have adopted it now as our base in Paraparaumu for future trips. We will be back as soon as possible!

Booked on line thru Agoda before we left Canada and they were to process our payment on March 1st. When we checked we pulled out our Visa and paid again. Probably our mistake as much as the hotel. Keran the manager dropped by the room with a cash refund for us. Excellent service!! Room is neat and tidy, clean, adequate dishes, good bathroom. Would stay again for sure. The hotel has recent new owners who are working hard to bring the standards up. Location is excellent, easy to find, very close to lots of restaurants, shops and the beach and park area. 3 stars for room 4 stars for staff
