described as park like settings - more like overgrown garden , set off a main road
oil fin heater had exposed wires so didnt bother to use it - ended up buying our own heater in te awamutu because the place is freazing - first impressions it looks clean - that is untill you actually look - the tv looked liked it belonged in the early 90's ( 20ish inch box type ) and lastly - we left for about a hour to return to find all the windows wide open , door unlocked - nevermind guest's property in sight which anyone could of stolen and when confronted about it was told " im always around " but the guy couldnt seem to understand that he cant be everywhere all the time .....

Never again

I found Park Lodge to be dirty, very under equipped and expensive for the services they weren't providing. We had a cockroach in our room which ran under the bed. When we lifted the bed to catch it we found it had not been cleaned under for months. Family we were travelling with found an rtd bottle under their bed in another room.
I would expect to find a microwave, toaster and kettle in a motel unit, only the kettle was provided. The table was so small that you could not have eaten a meal on it even if you could have made it or brought in takeaways.
The single bed provided was short, too small for an adult. The beds were never made up. You expect this in a lower priced motel, but this not a lower priced motel
The bathroom was too small to get dressed in after having a shower. It was very noisy from the nearby major road.
I would certainly not recommend staying at this motel.

Stayed for one night in this motel despite the negative review written in tripadvisor. Despite being listed in AA, consider this as your last resort lodging if none is available within the area. Do not bother about service. There is none. The room needs major renovation. Minimal amenities- just 2 mini soap bars and towels. I also doubt about the cleanliness of the room especially blankets and beds. There is a play area but do not safe for kids. The pool is full of junk. Consolation is there is some form of cooking facility. And a heater. But no fan if the weather gets hot. Parking is tight. Although there is a big parking area before you enter the motel- park if you dare. Most important- do get earplugs. The motel is located in a busy thoroughfare.

Described as "park like" surroundings. More likely overgrown and untended. Rooms are very poor. Brand new tv which was good. Reasonably clean, but for $93 not good. Certainly a repaint would help a little, bug backpackers rooms are better for less money. We booked through a website. Not again without at least inspecting the room! Our fault I guess. Avoid this place ismy advice.

Stayed there for 3 nights and the rooms were not even serviced once. Clean towels each day but beds were never made nor were the bathrooms cleaned. Heater was not even working on the first night. Would have moved out but all the other motels were fully booked. We were greeted by a big cockcroach the moment we entered the kitchen on the first night. The soap was not replaced nor was the toilet paper. The sheets looked dirty too. There was no hairdryer. Refrigerator was large though and microwave oven was large. Parking was inadequate and the drive way was difficult to negotiate. No free WIFI.

This place was absolutely disgusting, like the other review it should have been a hint when payment was made before checking in!! The floors were not cleaned, the bed looked as though it had undesirable inhabitants and the oven had let overs from previous tenants, and was baked on grease...Target would certainly have a ball reviewing this place...Should be closed down!

I guess we should have been alerted when they insisted we pay before being shown the room. Very dated and tired would not even come close, dirty and smelly would be more to the point. The oven had a roasting dish with solidified fat sitting in it, the remains of that were on the oven glove hanging on the handle, the microwave blew up when we turned it on, the shower curtain was wet and slimey and the curtain linings were black with mould. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and so it goes on, we demanded our money back and left before we endangered our health further.

We (3 friends) survived 1 night simply because we had to but I wouldn't recommend anyone else stay here. The place is grotty to say the least. I doubt it's had any maintenance work in the past 20 years! Would've rather kept our $109 & slept in the car. The place should be demolished or at least spruced up to some kind of livable standard!

Despite booking a "family unit" which we were assured over the phone and webpage would include a separate room for the kids, on arrival we were put in a studio unit with 5 beds.

The room was clean, but in a terrible state of disrepair. Appliances, including a heater were outdated and featured exposed wiring. Beds were uncomfortable and the fold out bed for an extra guest was entirely unsuitable for an adult to sleep on.

On arrival, we were charged the full rate for two nights. In the morning, we had realised that we had paid a deposit on booking, that hadn't been taken into account, an innocent enough mistake. But it took a great deal of arguing in order to get the staff to check the records and refund the overpayment.

I will never stay here again and would actually discourage others from making the same mistake.
