This is a handy place to stop. It is quite an old motel but clean and spacious with a lovely rural backdrop. The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the unit was clean. Perhaps a tad overpriced considering the main road location.

Very overpriced for quality of accommodation, staff friendly and helpful but don't have much to work with. Maintainence needed. Really needs exhaust fan in kitchen as any cooking on the very old stove results in the smoke alarm going. Towels and linen could be better quality, I suspect the staff are just employees not the owners

The location is easy to find as it is on the main highway going into the township of Tokoroa. The owner/manager and his wife were friendly and kind. Although the establishment looks quite old it was clean and comfortable. We four sisters enjoyed our 5 day stay at this motel while visiting our family in Tokoroa. There is a kitchenette in the unit where we were able to rustle up some very nice meals. As well as other reasons we chose this motel because it had cooking facilities. There is also a laundry where guests are able to do their own washing and hang their clothes on the line and where the fresh country breezes dried them to perfection. What I liked about the motel is that is is easily accessible, it served the purpose of our stay and the service was very homely and courteous and we appreciated that.

I stopped here for a few nights while on holiday. WAY over priced. Room/bathroom was infested with these weird tiny pale bugs. Terrible service, the owners were nosy and suspicious. And the first afternoon the owner poked his head in the room without knocking to make sure I was "following the rules". Also I was the only person there who was not in emergency accommodation from WINZ, both people next to me were homeless. The worst thing that happened to me was putting my hand on the shower ledge and accidentally picking up a soggy old plaster with blood in it.

Beware!!! Service needs a bit of work. Ask about the shower before checking in. The cycle doesn’t run to hot. You need to run the kitchen tap in order to get hot water in the shower. This takes awhile. For the amount of money you pay this isn’t worth it!! Rooms are also too small!!

Needed a place to get away from the misses nagging all the time about the kids needing this and that, go ask ya father.
Called into the Redwood Lodge and had the best night of my married life. I recommend to all men needing a night to them selves. Cooking facilities available and you can take a dump in peace with the door open.

Beautifully clean room with great service from the owners kept safe during covid and recommend to families who are passing through bath shower kitchen and close to town
