Very well appointed. Luxurious linens. Nice bathroom & amenities. We also have three bed & breakfast rooms in the main house - two with fantastic views of the ocean as they are upstairs.

Our great experience started when I booked the room same day. I got a text from the lovely lady who owned the place t o say she would leave a key if they were out, and that we had the ocean view room. She was NOT wrong,. The view was spectacular. Fishing boats coming and going, ferries to Stewart Island on the move, and all the birds . The sliding door took up most of the wall on that side facing the ocean and I could NOT have asked for a better room. The room was very tastefully decorated, with lovely blues and greens. The bed was superb, the linens were top notch and the little touches such as the chocolates and the toiletries did not go unnoticed, The water pressure in the shower was great, and the towels were wonderfully thick. Look...If you are going to day in Bluff, talk to Lisa . Bluff Ocean Vista is top notch. We had been on a three day tour of the South Island and we paid far more for way less. This was the best night of my holiday.

Our room was located at the rear of the property but still had views of Bluff Harbour from the verandah and sliding glass door. It was tastefully furnished with comfortable bedding, a kitchenette and a good sized ensuite.

We thought we were staying in a motel with a queen suite but instead it was in the top floor of the owners house. The room, kitchen and bathroom were fine but we had to come through the owners living area to go out which was a bit awkward. The owners are friendly enough but if you like independence it would be better to stay in their units which are at the back of the house.

We had a reservation here and we're forced to change our plans 3 days in advance. We were charged full price and never stayed. The manager just shrugged us off and said there is nothing we can do. Very Sad!

Room is actually a box built on the back driveway. The ocean view is from the front porch looking out the driveway between two buildings-next to the barking dogs. I would recommend against staying here. The odor from the dogs permeated the room. The back unit appeared clean but was not ocean front accommodation as described.
The facilities are not pet free or smoke free and the main house furniture is torn and unkempt.
There is not a restaurant at this location so I don't know what the other reviewer was referring to.

We booked on account of the good reviews on trip advisor. Having stayed here makes me wonder if the reviews are real. We've got a very old apartment with very basic amenities.
Firstly, there are only one toilet and one bathroom for a 2 bedroom apartment. Secondly, the toilet and bathroom are separate from each other. In fact, the toilet is located far from the bedroom, near the yard area, behind the kitchen. The walkway to the toilet is creepy as the area is not very well lit up.
Furthermore, none of the doors (be it bedrooms or toilet or bathroom - refer pictures) can be locked! Water heater is not working well the whole house, especially in the bathroom; as water is either scalding hot or cold (not desirable for chilly weather).
Crockeries provided in the kitchen is dirty and very basic. Overall a very lousy experience and this is definitely not recommended to anyone on vacation.

We decided to stay at Bluff as we wanted to catch the ferry to Stewart Island and chose the Ocean Vista for our 2 nights. The ferry terminal is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the Ocean Vista, or 5 mins by car. If you are visiting the island for the day you can leave your car in the secure parking area at the terminal for $8 for the day. We had Motel Unit 2 situated behind the house. The unit was exceptionally clean with everything we needed for our stay. The bed was super comfy and the unit cosy and quiet. The sliding glass door looks out onto the back garden and the ocean and provides a nice amount of light into the unit. Our view of the ocean was partial however, but really it makes no difference as you are on the esplanade anyway. Unit 1 has the full view. Lisa was a real gem. She was full of information and recommended the Anchorage Café where we tried the blue cod and chips which was superbly fresh. She also helped out when we had washing to hang out and it was rainy, providing a clothes rack for inside and a sheltered area outside to hang our bigger items. On returning from Stewart Island she had brought the clothes in from the line and folded them for us. It is obvious she loves being a host and it shows. She left you alone when needed but was always happy to chat about anything and everything when you stopped to talk. A truly lovely person who made our short stay memorable. We personally found Bluff a strange town. It is obvious it's heyday has come and gone. There are a lot of derelict buildings along the esplanade in amongst the occupied ones. Not sure if it is slowly dying or slowly regenerating. There are a lot of holiday homes though on the hills behind the foreshore. The Maritime Museum near the ferry terminal is worth a visit to understand Bluff's history and reason for it's demise. Hoping that some enterprising people invest in this town and restore it to its former glory as it has great potential.

Stayed here for two nights with a day trip to Stewart island in between. Lisa was very welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a small motel unit out the back and it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Payed about 120 AUD per night on line. Short walk to ferry terminal. Would recommend this one. A note - none of the restaurants in Bluff open on a Monday night, so fish and chips it is!

there is not much choice of accomodation in Bluff, but we were please to find this!
Two new motel units at the back. Everything brand new and perfect. Only complaint, the plunger coffee was excellent, but only enough for one....need a larger plunger and more coffee !!
Lisa was helpful beyond measure, and the unit just fine. A lovely walk in the morning, and a short drive to the Stewart island terminal.
Definitely recommended.

Hi, we stayed in one of the 2 motel type units at the rear of the main B&B house and there are no stair in them. Think there was one step onto a deck area outside.
Good accomodation.
There are more places to choose from in the Bluff area.
