This place is simply lovely, stayed for 3 nights and highly recommend it since there is more to see and experience than just Hobbiton, eg. Wairere Falls and just relaxing amidst the amazingly beautiful scenery! Hosts are very friendly and this place felt like home away from home, but with luxury - the house is beautiful, loved the private terraces with a view. Breakfast was delicious and also a wonderful chance to meet other travellers. The Extra Special Super Fabulous part of this stay for us was the farm tour and the sustainable attitude in everything, from solar energy and recycling to the very breakfast ingredients coming from the farm - we learned a lot about food production and sustainable living. Plus the animals are lovely <3

This Lodge is the best accommodation I think I have ever stayed in. The view is stunning, tucked in amongst the countryside you get an quiet yet homey feeling from this place. Joy and her husband make you feel right at home with their hospitality . Definitely your home away from home:) 5 min drive to the township and 15min drive to the famous Hobbiton. 100% will stay again, I highly reccomend to anyone. Book now!!! You won't regret it x

Absolutely fantastic. We booked this place the night before, hoping to visit Hobbiton and then head to the airport for an 18-hour flight home the next day. We were traveling with an 11-month-old baby, our hosts were brilliant, we could not ask any more of them. Not only was Joy's breakfast brilliant but the baby seemed to eat it all up! I definitely want to stay here again and take our son around the grounds, unfortunately, luck had it that it rained during our stay, however, our son did get a good view of the sheep right up at the door and had a great time with the resident cat. Many thanks, Joy, I cannot rate this place highly enough.

De Preaux Lodge offers a large, modern housing in the middle of a vast and beautiful farm. It was certainly refreshing to have a vacation there. The hosts—Ian and Joy— are super friendly. Ian single-handedly takes care of the farm, which makes the tour that he gives around his farm very informative and enjoyable. Also, Joy is very good with kids. She will bend over backwards to ensure that her guests have a comfortable stay at the Lodge. I highly recommend it.

Thank you for a wonderful visit with you. You have a beautiful home on a gorgeous property. Joy, your cooking was only surpassed by your kindness to my wife Jo Ellen administering to her cold. I loved visiting with Ian about the animals on the farm. He is right out of "All Creatures Great and Small". Best wishes for the future. Came as a visitor, left as a friend!
