Detailed Reviews
House with no Nails is such a beautiful, creatively stylish home with sweeping views of the gorgeous countryside. Decor throughout is impeccable, with modern country comfort feel. Both Jen and Dewi create a feeling of warmth and friendliness as soon as you arrive; and are ready to help plan your exploration of the surrounding area.
Bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and ample; and it’s a treat waking up to fresh country air and mooing of cows. Just remember to shut the windows at night as the mosquitoes tend to get in.
A home you don’t want to leave

From the minute you walk up to the beautiful wooden front door you will be treated to a wonderful stay. We are a family who as a rule don’t do BnBs but made an exception as we wanted some unique Accomodation on our roadie. We weren’t sorry! Jen and Dewi are lovely and were very respectful of privacy. We would not have known they were in the same house. Jen is an absolute delight and has thought of everything! The breakfast was homemade and delicious. Best coffee too!
On to the house - an amazing handcrafted barn house with three levels and your pick of multiple luxurious rooms. The kids loved the loft! Beautifully decorated with mood lighting and luxurious linen creates a perfect mix of rustic luxury. And in the morning a gorgeous view to the Kaimai’s. Highly recommend. It will be our go-to Accomodation for the Matamata area anytime we are there.

We chose as on the Rail Trail, arriving the setting was stunning, the House is so interesting and a credit to the Owners who have built it by hand, and decorated with love.
Jen was so open and welcoming, she clearly loves people and nothing was a problem, taking care of our every whim. We had drinks and a platter of nibbles in the afternoon, and a lovely Meal to follow.
Rooms are spacious, comfy, and tastefully decorated with attention to detail.
Thank you Jen for a stay we will always remember and we look forward to coming again.

The house with no nails is an extraordinary experience. We were welcomed by Jen and Dewi, who made us feel so special. We were given a coffee and a detailed description and tour of the house and how it was built using old school techniques and no nails being used. The rooms were extraordinary, fabulously furnished and very comfortable. We loved that you could have choices of different areas to sit, and the views were amazing Our meal was delicious, cooked in an outside fire grill and we even got instructed in how to put together the chimichurri for the steaks . We loved the country atmosphere and the relaxing feel of the whole place. This would be a perfect place for a group of friends who wanted experience something unique together.

This is a destination to enjoy & you get to stay also. Only had the night but would have added days if I had time. Jennifer the host is a warm and welcoming person who loves people and has travelled a lot. She knows how to make you feel welcome and we spent an enjoyable evening and breakfast chatting with her and the other guests.
The breakfast was very nice, better than the usual
The house which Jen and her husband built is something to marvel. They taught themselves how to build this traditional style of building, which you don't see much of in this part of this world. I'm a builder and am impressed by their work.

Heaven in the country doesn’t come close to describing the shear beauty of the countryside and the accommodation. Jen and Dewi have created a magical home and furnished it with beautiful, quirky and precious pieces. Our beds were the most comfortable that we have slept in. The home is warm and cozy with a feeling of being at home and at ease.
Jen and Dewi were the most wonderful hosts and supplied us with great information about the area and sightseeing possibilities. We were fortunate to have a fabulous meal prepared for us on our last night with tomahawk steaks and vegetables from their garden.
Don’t miss the opportunity to stay with Jen and Dewi. You will be talking about it for a long time.
Thank you for making the trip one of the most memorable.

We stayed for only one night (sadly) but Jen and Dewi were so kind and welcoming. Having a chat with Jen over coffee, cheese and crackers when we arrived was so pleasant. They really are wonderful people and the barn is amazing. Check out the photos, learn the history. Great location if you're headed to Hobbiton and Matamata has some wonderful restaurants on main street not far either.

Recently enjoyed the hospitality of Jen and Dewi at The House With No Nails. This is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast built by Dewi and beautifully decorated by Jen. Jen and Dewi are the perfect hosts. They made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The location is beautiful and views fabulous. The rooms are very roomy and comfortable. The story behind the house is very interesting. It is a New Zealand experience that shouldn't be missed. So pleased we found it.

beyond description how friendly the host are. Seven Canadians stayed and had an excellent supper. There is an excellent view. The place is close to the Harakai (SP) trail. There are no nearby neighbours, so it is very quiet.

You know that feeling, that instant feeling of coming home and everything just feels right? That's what we felt just give minutes after being welcomed by Jen and Dowie.
Originally we had just booked one night but as Jen walked us through their amazing (!!) house we just looked at each other and said we wanted more nights at house with no nails.
We had the most beautiful room and right outside was one of the two shared bathrooms. We stayed here with a lovely American family and everyone just really felt like one big happy family. Couldn't be more amazing.
During our stay there Jen went the extra mile of helping us planning daytrips. As we got home either the same evening or the day after she made sure of asking us what was good and what wasn't as good so she knew what she could recommend. Basically doing her homework.
Now let's talk breakfast. All I can say is Dowie I miss your breakfast haha.
As the title says. We booked one night because of its amazing view but we found a home. Don't doubt. It will be worth it
Best regards Ewa and Johannes
