Our hosts were so easy to talk to and very generous with their time and attention. Sue made every effort to ensure our stay here over a long weekend was as perfect as could be, really catering to our every need and any scheduling mishaps. Her breakfasts were better than some we’ve had at high end hotels with fresh, local ingredients, the generous portions presented beautifully and to our different dietary needs. We are disappointed we didn’t take the opportunity to book dinner here. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the sculptures made our morning stroll interesting. The Christmas decorations around the house and pool area made our stay a touch more magical. It was a real pleasure to experience a glimpse of what life on this historical property must have been like. We’d love to revisit with a bunch of friends and spend more time on the property!

Amazing place to stay if you're after peaceful & private accommodation. Delicious breakfast & dinners were provided by the amazing Sue and we were able to enjoy them next to the cozy fire. She was also very flexible with our stay - perfect for special requests. Surrounded by magnificent gardens and farmlands. Very close to Morrinsville and a 25 min drive from Hamilton. There was plenty for us to do such as lounging near the swimming pool. enjoying a relaxing bath, visiting the aviaries, picking our own fresh fruit, playing a big game of chess & enjoying a hot relaxing bath to name a few. I would highly recommend to all!

My three night stay at Oak Lane Lodge was the most pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable time I have ever had while working. Breakfasts were fantastic, a lot of home made products which you can also buy. Kath and Allan were great hosts, very artistic and creative people along with wonderful personalities. If I had the opportunity to go again I would not hesitate. Memorable stay, lovely birdsong in the mornings to wake you up! Marama McKenna

Spent just one night at this beautiful property and wished it could have been much longer! Although I arrived early, and Cath and Alan were going to be out, they easily made arrangements for me to access my room so I could freshen up prior to going out to a function. I was upgraded to the restful Kaka king room with a view out across the gardens, an enormous bathroom and a dressing room with an extra single bed - luxury indeed. Had a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed and although the temperature was frosty outside the room was warm and open to the sun in the morning. Cath and Alan were very friendly hosts and we had an interesting conversation over breakfast - and I went home with some delicious home made marmalade too! Would definitely stay here again next time I am in the area - hopefully for more than one night next time.

We had a lovely one nite stay at Oak Lane Lodge, with a great breakfast, with very friendly hosts. My only thing was I like a queen size bed, and a double bed for me is too small for two people when you are use to queen. But apart from the bed the house was beautiful along with gardens and pool. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and have taken the time to let others know. It does make such a difference for other potential guests to make the right decisions. It was a puzzle to hear that the bed felt small. Because it is a custom made bed and mattress, we went and measured the mattress and found it to be 3cm larger all round than a normal Queen bed. However, it does have a tail board - and this may give the impression that it is a smaller bed. Guest comfort is our number one concern. Thank you for raising this with us.

This is a fabulous place to stay...the hosts are exceptional and make you feel very comfortable. This beautiful villa is grand and the grounds are beautiful and all is maintained to a very high standard. The breakfasts are very yummy with lots of choices and it just makes you never want to leave. Highly recommend staying as it's such a peaceful location and the hosts make it very homely.

Perfection from the home to the gardens and topped off by the gracious hosts Alan and Cath. We were given an upgrade to the king room and could not find fault with our stay We would highly recommend this property as a base to travel from or just to stay put and take in the ambience

Beautiful surroundings and real feel for the Waikato country life. Very comfortable accommodation with fantastic breakfast selections. Easy driving to many different attractions the area has to offer. All seven of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay at Oak Lane again.

The lodge is an impeccably maintained old farmhouse from the early 20th century, on manicured grounds with orchards and gardens, surrounding by paddocks. Alan and Cath are perfect hosts, helpful, well-informed and extremely kind. The farm breakfast was spectacular (the best we had in New Zealand), and the wifi worked without a hiccup. The room had a huge and hugely comfortable bed, with a large and spotless en suite bathroom. If you are interested in birds, there is much to see here, btw. We were given a bag of tangelos to take with us when we left—far better than any we'd ever had in California—and purchased metalwork made by a local artisan. It was winter, and storming, so we didn't try the pool, but it looked inviting. My highest recommendation!

It is with pleasure that we are able to share this wonderfully secluded piece of New Zealand rural paradise with nice people like yourselves. A short stay, yes, makes us especially glad we were able to help make your visit to New Zealand memorable in some small way. All the best, A&C.

We stayed at Oak Lane Lodge for 6 wonderful nights in March 14 whilst in NZ to compete in clay target World championships (apologies for not reviewing sooner!) We could not have been looked after better than with Cath and Alan, they were amazing hosts from the start, we dined with the two of them on 3 evenings and ate breakfast with their lovely friends who were staying overnight. We were treated like family and the food was always natural, fresh and very tasty, even on the occasion when they rustled something up last minute for us! Our room was in a lovely location with french doors out to the beautiful gardens at the back of the property and was very comfortable. The pool was great and we were free to pop in for a coffee from the lovely kitchen whenever we wanted. I had an amazing time wandering around and helping Cath feed their four and two legged friends in the fields and aviaries around the house (Barney was just lovely) We would love to return someday and see more of this part of NZ. Happy times in a perfect setting! 😊
