The Mercure Samui, is hands down one of the most spectacularly positioned hotels on the beautiful Chaweng beach. At just one year old it is also the most beautifully landscaped and furnished of the many hotels we have been so lucky to stay during our travels.

The team who maintain and care for the hotel and clearly understand the importance of guest services is outstanding. From the wonderful management of Nat and Nina, to their beautiful staff of whom there are too many to mention and the amazing reception team of, Sira, Bella, B and Daris, there was nothing that they didn’t do to make our stay as perfect as possible. We wish we could name them all. Everyone was wonderful!

We had planned a seven day stop over here on Koh Samui as we came to the end of two months travelling in Europe. We chose the Mercure and Koh Samui on a whim as hopefully a restful place to unwind. We couldn’t have asked for more! We only wish we could have stayed longer!

The breakfast each morning was a buffet with a chef station for selecting items that could be made on request. The restaurant team at meal times and at breakfast was cognisant of my wife’s gluten intolerance and catered for her with excellent alternatives. They were brilliant!

We had not considered a return to Koh Samui before our arrival but all that has now changed. We will indeed return to the Mercure for the pure joy this wonderful hotel provided us during our stay. The beach is one of the cleanest and calmest of the beaches we have visited in Asia.

Travel too and from the Samui Central mall or down to Lamai is inexpensive and extremely well serviced by small buses that pass by the hotel at least every five minutes and cost just 100 THB.

The rooms are beautifully furnished as you would expect from such a new hotel. The beds very comfortable and the bathroom excellent. A fabulous shower!

We stayed in pool access room, 2005. It was a real treat to be able to walk into the beautifully clean and well appointed pool whenever we felt the need for a refresh. Access to the pool and the beach was easy from all rooms with plenty of shady deck chairs available. The three bars, on the beach, in the pool, on the rooftop of the restaurant, offered happy hour times that varied between venues.

As you can see from this review, we loved the Mercure on Koh Samui. We are already planning a return visit!

In the main we enjoyed our stay at the Mercure. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The rooms are well appointed, with multi use plug sockets, which which take UK 3 pin plugs. The TV has no English speaking film channels. The room security needs attention because we had an unknown person open our key card door, whilst we were sat on the balcony during the late evening. Reception staff checked it out, and stated no one had entered, but WE know differently having been there at the time. Sunbed numbers need improving, you'll be lucky to get a sunbed after 9.30am. Warning the sea in Chaweng is extremely rough, and a man recently drowned, and last week a lady was swepted away and rescued by a strong swimmer. The hotel makes no mention of the danger, other than flying a red flag. A note could be placed in rooms warning of the dangers. Would I return??? most certainly. 🙂

I stayed here for four nights traveling with my family. I had a single king room on the newer beach side on the third floor overlooking the pool. Loved the balcony with a chair. I previously stayed here when they only had a building across the street and it was called the Tana Boutique resort. I also previously wrote a review for that side of the road back in 2011. It had just opened back then. If you're looking for an authentic Thai style bungalow this resort may not be for you. If you're looking for a functional European style resort with a great pool and decent food this is a great mid-range option. The staff were wonderful and I really enjoyed my stay.
Located on a great part of South Chaweng Beach. Just a short ride to lots of late night fun and plenty of food nearby. Decent bed (a tad firm), great shower, cable selection, safe, and great air conditioning. I would say opt for the breakfast I enjoyed it. The pool covers the complete resort. The rooms on the first floor have steps that go directly into the pool. There is also an area for kids with a slide. On the front of the pool at the entrance there is clear plexiglass that can make an Instagram worthy photo. There is also a small travel service in the lobby.
On the negatives there is only two elevators that move kind of slowly. Also the parking lot is really small I rented a car and the spaces fill up. There is a guard to help navigating out of the parking lot. Also the bar above the restaurant was never open but there is one in the pool and right next to the beach. I've stayed at several Mercure Hotels and this may be my favorite one. If you're looking for a Thai style bungalow I recommend Anavana located nearby.

Very nice hotel,
Two separate buildings: the main building, facing the beach, where the rooms are a little more expensive, and a second building across the street, where the rooms at the most accessible prices are located.
In both cases, the buildings are tastefully furnished. My room, economy category, was clean, and I really liked the decoration. Small downside regarding the noise coming from the hallway, as well as the brightness: located in one corner of the building overlooking another room, it was difficult to leave the curtains open without losing privacy.

The hotel is very well located, with all amenities within 3 minutes walk.
There is an office available to organize your stay in Samui. However, crossing the street you will find a travel agency offering more attractive prices.

The hotel does not have an in-house laundry service; it must be done through an external service provider.

Breakfast offers a wide range of foods.

Thai staff are smiling and helpful.

Little regret: during my stay, the main pool was under construction. Too bad!

Overall I am disappointed with my stay at the Mercure Chaweng Tana. There are pluses and minuses, but more negatives.

The +:
. serious service, looking for solutions when there is a problem, friendly, polite and smiling staff.
. The main pool, in the good side of the Inn, is very beautiful and large, which is rather rare in Chaweng with a nice beach nearby.
. Finally, the rooms are made every day with care.

The - :
. Pension not well located, 20 minutes walk to lively center of Chaweng Beach and the best restaurants.
. Inn in 2 separate buildings separated by a road: one, of low standing, is far from the beach in the city and noise with a small (deserted) pool, the other, on the right side of the road, is close to the large pool and the beach; obviously, you discover on arrival that your standard room is on the wrong side and that you will have to cross a busy road every day to get to the beach... For an upgrade the Rating is salty, so forget it. I wish my travel agency had told me, because I wouldn't have booked this Inn when I know many others in Chaweng.
. The rooms are small and very simple. I had to change the first day because my room directly overlooked the road amidst the exhausts. I found another one, quieter but without a balcony. The bed mattress is not very comfortable and the air conditioning is noisy.
. Breakfast is very average: few choices and overall not very good.

I am therefore generally disappointed to have found myself in this secondary part of the Pension apart and not deserving 4 stars unlike probably the other part. Check with your agency to avoid discovering that you will spend 1 week in this part of the Pension that I do not recommend at all, there is so much better in Chaweng.

Hotel very nice, but service and attitude needs some major attention. We had an issue when booking in, there were 4 adults (2 separate rooms) but only 2 breakfasts included, even though our paperwork stated breakfast included, there were 4 names on the booking and 4 of us standing there. We requested to speak to the Manager, Pheobe came, she was rude, condescending come clearly with an attitude and would not allow us to explain why this made no sense. 4 people booking in with only 2 breakfasts included. She then proceeded to tell us rudely that "we are wrong" you do not speak to guests in this manner, you should be trying to resolve and deescalate the issue not point fingers, not one apology for the inconvenience. We weren't trying to get something for nothing our paperwork said breakfast included we just wanted what we booked for. It would have cost them nothing to add 2 more breakfast onto the room as good will, however they flatly refused. We said we may as well go somewhere else if this is how they treat people to this she replied "go ahead". As for the hotel lovely but beds were hard, pillows lumpy and our room was never serviced until 3/4pm each day when we were returning from the beach/pool looking for a shower and rest, when it was serviced we had to ask for more toilet paper, water and clean pool towels as they didn't replenish. We have traveled extensively and have never been treated or spoken to like this by a manager ever. Very disappointing.

Lovely hotel. It consists of two enclosures : standard and deluxe, the one standard - sea across the road, deluxe new enclosure near the sea. Rooms are clean, new, beautiful, very comfortable bed. The beach in summer is beautiful, shallow enough, comfortable with small summers, entrance is gentle, the bottom is sandy, the water is clean and without waves. The pool is great, the sun loungers by the pool are comfortable, the beach is not great.
Breakfasts are good, always several egg options, fresh delicious vegetables and fruits, Thai cuisine, cheese, sausages, sausage, pastries, coffee from coffee machines.
Location is excellent, nearby shops, fruit, cafe, massage. 20 minutes on foot and a very busy street.
It should be borne in mind that the hotel is quite small, but that does not prevent it from being cozy, comfortable and comfortable.
Highly recommended as for families and couples.

Once again staying at Mercure chewang in koh samui, pool is now fully operational and spectacular with beach side location, as an accor member the staff could not be more accommodating from duty manager to beach bar and restaurant staff. Had a small issue with breakfast for one of our party and was dealt with very well and was much appreciated. I stay in many accor hotels and this one is fast becoming a favourite, many thanks Michael

We had a lovely stay here, this is one of the nicest hotels on the island. The location is very centrally located, there is a bus that runs frequently from outside, which is handy. The hotel itself is modern, clean and the staff were truly amazing, they greeted me by name, and nothing was ever to much. The pool is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a Thai hotel, and had amazing views being directly on the beach. A special mention to the restaurant, and I would most definitely recommend the Massaman curry (soo good!!) looking forward to staying again.
The lady who offers the excursions in reception is definately worth visiting, knowledgeable, honest, speaks amazing English, and truly made some great recommendations for us.

The hotel does not correspond to the declared 4 stars. This is 2 stars at best. Managers do not look at guest reservations. Upon check-in, they gave us a room for 3 men with one double bed! I wonder how they imagined it, the booking indicated 3 separate beds. The rooms in the building across the street are small. There are no additional wardrobes. The room is dark. The view from the window (view of the city) is terrible, all the windows and windowsill are covered in bird feces. The hotel in a building behind the road resembles a construction site. Smell of dampness on the 1st floor. What kind of decoration is this for the corridor and walls? Concrete and cement, reminiscent of reconstruction. The pools look like stage decorations. If a hotel calls itself 4 stars, then where are the banal toothbrushes, toothpaste, bathrobe, extra glasses, etc. ? I'll tell you about breakfast. There is one hotel, but 2 buildings. So, guests of building 2 cannot have breakfast in the café of building 1 by the sea. This is explained to me by the variety of food for which I need to pay extra?! Hotel management what are you talking about? There is only one hotel. I went to this cafe, the same vegetables, the same fruits, the same juices, the same food. Only the chairs and tables are different. Moreover, the reception staff are lying, they said that only lunches and dinners are served there.
I do not recommend booking rooms at this hotel, look at other options. Doesn't match the price and quality. It’s too bad that your vacation starts with negativity!

I don’t think there was ever a private beach area .. just access to the beach. It is a couple of minutes walk down the main road. That section of Chaweng is pretty secluded anyway and you only find a handful of people.

The path to the beach is still blocked by construction (I was there 1/2020). Very nice property and great rooms, but not for you if you expect beachfront resort vibe. It is one block behind the beach on a plain-looking block, but you can get to Chaweng Beach by walking 5m down a safe road.
