Detailed Reviews
This hotel is actually quite nice with its’ location on a hill and still close to the beach. The rooms itselves are nothing special, but not bad.
Breakfast is classic Italian with bunches of cakes and some fruit.
The reason why I probably never will visit this hotel again, has to do to with the service from both front desk personnel and some truly surreal experiences by the pool.
With the exception of a waiter in the restaurant, the personnel was unfriendly, and sometimes even rude. The regime by the pool is borderline threatening by the guard there:
“For you not to end up in trouble, you HAVE to shower before you go into the pool. Not just once, but every time you want to swim.if you don’t, you will be in trouble.”
What kind of trouble we wonder. Our family “stayed out of trouble”, and got yelled at only twice, once my teenage daughter dived into the pool (“you can’t dive!!) and once I tried to move the sun bed to be in the shade (“that’s illegal!”)
Our neighbors at the pool however didn’t understand that they had to shower between every swim, and were asked to give up their room number (“you are no longer welcome by the pool”). They tried to remind the staff who are the paying guests and who are there to make the stay pleasant, but no success.
Unless you are looking for a hotel where staff is yelling at you, banning you from parts of the property, trying to charge you extra for a stay at an almost empty beach after 4 nights at the hotel (and EUR 2.000 spent), I would consider looking for a place where staff are friendly, you don’t “end up in trouble/ are being banned” for minor things.

In thanking you for choosing us, we are forced to make some clarifications without "screaming" and without threatening . There is a regulation for the swimming pool and common areas which, if you have had the opportunity to visit other four-star hotels, you will find in all the structures similar to ours which, not being tourist villages, do not provide for dives, and require a "shower" before entering the pool. This is to protect hygiene and also to avoid that when selling from the beach, annoying presence of sand is created in the bottom of the pool. To this it must be added that since the pandemic our hotel, like many other structures attentive to the health of its guests, has been given a protocol that provides for a spacing between the sunbeds in the solarium of the swimming pool which, clearly, if they were moved would lose effectiveness, it is access is also provided for hotel guests only (for this the room number is requested), as well as it is not allowed to introduce food from the outside to consume it in the rooms or in the common areas, as occurred in your case. The pool attendant is the lifeguard, qualified and trained for this activity, must remember these precautions to protect everyone in carrying out their work with grace and kindness. They do not threaten, they do not scream, and no one has ever gotten into trouble and we ask you to avoid writing things that are obviously not true to the truth, especially out of respect for the people who work with professionalism and attention to make the holiday pleasant for all guests. We add that there were no misunderstandings due to the language as you are of Italian origins and therefore have an excellent command of Italian but probably some impatience with common rules provided to ensure the fun and relaxation of all guests.

We stayed three nights in this hotel as part of a group tour. The hotel is very attractive with stunning grounds and pool, although the pool was closed in October. The hotel is full of interesting art works. Many of the rooms overlook a courtyard and they are roomy, clean and well equipped - and despite a comment in an earlier review, a European adaptor works perfectly well in both types of socket.
Breakfast and dinner were both of a reasonable standard, though the configuration of the buffet breakfast meant that queues built up rather too easily. Group dinners will never be a showcase for the best of local cuisine and the vegetables were frequently over cooked, but we have had worse meals on other tours.
Staff were pleasant - we had a particularly nice waiter - and it is a hotel I would be very happy to return in the future.

As the American granddaughter of immigrants from Agrigento, I was excited to stay at Baia di Ulisse for 2 nights in July, 2024. Although the hotel was spotless and comfortable, with a nice pool and lovely beach access, customer service was very disappointing.
I’m specifically referring to the hotel’s response when I fell ill on the 2nd evening of my stay. After an extremely hot day visiting the Valley of the Temples and my grandparents’ village, I returned to my room, showered, and rapidly began to feel sick. After I had an episode of vomiting, my travel companion (also a hotel guest) went to ask the front desk for some bread to bring to me to settle my stomach.
Unfortunately, the staff member at the front desk refused to allow my travel companion to bring a slice of bread to me in my room, stating that the hotel was a resort that didn’t permit food or drink of any sort in the guest rooms due to hygiene rules. And they were unwilling to make an exception to accommodate a sick guest.
Instead, this employee offered that I could eat bread outside at the swimming pool deck tables next to the bar, where it was extremely hot, sunny, and uncomfortable. At that point, I was resting in the bed. In my weak, overheated, sick condition, I was in no shape to return to the outdoors for some bread.
My experience showed the hotel’s lack of concern or compassion for me as a hotel guest. The hotel also did not check in with me later at any point to see how I was doing or offer any support, which would have been responsible and a really nice touch.
As for the hotel food, the bread and fresh fish at dinner my first night were enjoyable and good quality, although the pastries at breakfast were dry and not the traditional Sicilian pastries that are so beautiful and appealing.
After returning to the US, I emailed the hotel manager respectfully describing my experience. I did not receive a reply or acknowledgement of any kind.
I could not highly recommend this hotel knowing that it doesn’t show concern for or take care of its guests in such circumstances as mine.

I have stayed at the hotel with an extended family of 8 people at the end of September.
Hotel has cozy rooms (some of them with a seaview) and is located by the beautifull beach and amazing sea. There is only one restaurant at the hotel with a limited menu which is not suitable for children. There are 2 good restaurants nearby in 10min walking distance down and then up the steap hill. Dune is great for seafood lovers and Bellu Po has wide choice of good tasting pizzas.
Since we stayed at the hotel at the end of September it turned out that beach services had been closed and there is no beach club at he hotel and pool services are also limited.
As a result every day we had to drive to the nearby beach village San Leone to enjoy the beach and the sea in comfort at local beach clubs.
When I brougt this up to the hotel’s staff and asked for a discount since we would not choose this hotel if aware of the fact that the beach club is open till 15th of September.
Response was very dissappointing. Hotel aknowledged that their employee did not include the information of the closing date of the beach club (which is hotel’s standard procedure) in the booking email - it is still my fault not knowing this since I could check this information on their webpage.
When I have asked the hotel representative to show me where this information is available it turned out that it is available just in Italian version of the webpage. Then I have asked how could I know that the beach facilities are closed from 15th of September if information is only in Italian version of the webpage - I was told that I could have google transleted the information from italian to english….
Nice hotel with poor customer service!

Thanking you for choosing Agrigento and our structure to spend a short period of end-of-season holidays, we would like to make some clarifications: the services of the equipped beach end on September 15th as specified on our site and in every communication made by our structure both in Italian (our official language) and in English, French and German and it certainly does not respond to the truth that we “hide” this important information, considering that ours is one of the very few structures that has a private beach which is one of the strong points from June 15th to September 15th. From 15 September onwards, access to the beach is still allowed directly from our hotel, as it was during your stay. We are pleased that you enjoyed the cuisine of the premises outside our structure, while we do not appear to have made use of the restaurant service that we can assure you to be up to the level of external competitors and able to satisfy even the most particular needs. Both in terms of quality and variety and also with dishes designed for the kids. Finally, with regard to your statement on "poor customer service", we would like to remind you, among other things, that on the day of your departure, despite the fact that it was not breakfast time yet, our staff provided what was necessary for breakfast, especially for children to allow you to leave in conditions of absolute comfort. We do not understand why you then moved the complaints on the unequipped beach only on the last day of his stay, at the time of paying the bill, accompanying this complaint with the request for a large discount. It could have been usefull to ask the very first day in order to avoid misunderstandings. We could have explained why the beach equipment after a certain date of the year is dismantled and clearly no longer available to our guests.

Stayed here as part of a tour party. Room 73 was nice with great views from the Balcony overlooking the sea and pool.
The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The shower was good, a bit dissapointed with the quality of the toiletries for a 4 star hotel.
Aircon worked well.
Dissapointed to see that much of the public areas of the hotel were closed and felt a bit unfriendly which was a shame as the decor was very nice.
Steps everywhere, they were a bit of a problem, not just the number but they were steep there was a pathway which avoided the steps but this too was very steep in places.
Breakfast was OK but the evening meal was a real let down. The dishes were bland and samey. The vegetables were boiled to a mush and to add insult to injury the American Tour party were given Silver Service whereas the Brits had to get there own vegetables or salad from a side table.
The swimming pool was very deep with no shallow end you could only stand on the steps. The pool bar was good, but €11 for 2 small beers.

Stayed one night with a tour. The hotel offers a nice view of the ocean, but that's where the positives end.
I ended up trying three different rooms, all with major problems. All rooms were facing an outdoor courtyard. The first room had a misaligned door that closed but couldn't be securely locked. The second room had a non-working phone (I had to walk back to the front desk to report the problem) and minimal wifi reception. The third room also had minimal wifi reception in the desk area, although a little more by the bed. The staff turned on the heating unit and set it at 29°C (84°F). Two hours later the temperature in the room was still 17°C (63°F) and the bathroom was even colder. The heating unit was either blowing out a weak stream of lukewarm air or none at all. I called the front desk twice and they sent a man to check it out both times: he kept insisting that it was working fine, and it just needed more time (sic). By then it was 22:00 (10 pm). Both the receptionist and the maintenance man were patronizing and condescending, insisting that none of the problems were a big deal. They only offered me to return to one of the prior rooms, not one of the warmer rooms in the main building.
I ended up spending the night with no heat. In the morning, the temperature in the room was 13.9°C (57°F). There was very poor wifi reception in this room as well.
Other people traveling on the same tour had the same issue with the heating unit not working.
The bathroom had a small shower cabin, but everything in working order.

Customers for a few years already, we have noticed several things that have changed in a negative way, starting with breakfast with very large tables which are even too large for 2 people, there is never room to sit, you have to wait a long time standing, busy waitresses who don't even let you they see, dirty and unreplaced tablecloths, buffet pretty much the same as in previous years, but to get a coffee you wait a long time and it always arrives cold. It's true that we are in very high season but the prices are accordingly and what's more they make us pay for everything 7 days before arriving. And what about tourists (who speak English, I don't know where they come from), who walk barefoot in the restaurant and in the common areas, and no one says anything to them. (I pointed this out to the reception lady). Customer quality has dropped compared to the past, the room linen (sheets) replaced every 3 days (in other 4 star hotels they replace them every 2), never mind, we will never return even if the structure in general is very beautiful, well-kept, and perhaps unique in Sicily, but we travel a lot of km. to come there and there are other places in other regions of Italy to go

This hotel might have been assessed as a 4 star hotel but our experience would not give it above a 3 star rating at best. We can directly compare this 4 star hotel to another 4 star that we stayed at on the same tour of Sicily, namely the Hotel Sant' Alphio Garden in Giardini Naxos. The Sant Alphio was superb and exactly what we had expected from that rating, the hotel Baia di Ulisse in Agrigento definitely fell well short in many respects.
Our room had a defective shower door in the corner unit, which we reported to reception. The fault was finally fixed 24 hours later but only with the intervention of our tour rep. By the next day the door was almost off of its runners altogether and was again "fixed" with the help of our rep. The TV never worked despite telling reception, but thankfully this was a very minor problem for us, although it should still have been fixed. The restaurant breakfast offerings were average both in variety and quality as was the menu for dinner. The service was clearly a job for the staff and not a career option chosen with any desire to make things right and enjoyable for its clients.

We stayed 2 nights in this 4-star hotel selected by the travel agent as part of our vacation in Sicily. The hotel is very well located and in a quiet location. On the other hand, these are its only two advantages. The reception there is deplorable. The swimming pool is magnificent but you have the staff on your back to explain the rules to you (we had never seen this in all the other hotels with swimming pools in which we had stayed before), the same goes for the parking where you cannot go park wherever you want even if there are enough spaces available. In addition, the access gate does not open automatically for hotel residents, a shame for such a luxurious hotel! The breakfast buffet is absolutely minimalist and of poor quality (very dry cakes, etc.) and in a large restaurant room. The icing on the cake is that the hotel has direct access to the beach but charges an access fee of €10 per day per person (there were 5 of us), obviously we didn't go. Finally, our room had a permanent musty smell compared to that of our children. So if you want to be poorly received, have the staff on your back, waste money, go to this hotel, otherwise flee it for a less well-rated but friendlier hotel. All the other hotels we stayed in were 3 stars and offered a welcome and service well above, so the number of stars is absolutely not an absolute criterion.

We stayed at this property in early August and, although the hotel was full, the service was impeccable, from the welcome to the restaurant, through to the swimming pool.
The location is truly perfect, by car you can quickly reach the Valley of the Temples, while on foot and in a few steps you can reach the beach.
We also had dinner in the restaurant, which pleasantly surprised us with traditional dishes revisited in a modern way.
Highly recommended and if we were to stay in Agrigento again I will not hesitate to re-book this property.
Compliments!

Hi, there weren't any shops nearby I'm afraid (well, certainly within a 20 minute walk). We made sure we stocked up whilst we were out and about as the hotel prices weren't exactly cheap for water.
Staying here one night with small Perillo tour group. Any thoughts about their menu in dining room ?
Thank you
The hotel provides a good meal. Not sure how far away other restaurants are. Guesfs can use tbe spa.
il bar della spiaggia, bello, sotto un pergolato di piante, fresco e ben attrezzato, oltre alle bevande si possono consumare piatti freddi, anche dei primi veloci, con verdure o panini imbottiti, veramente interessante, personale cortese, da provare!
