Just 8 kms from golden sandy beaches and centrally located to Golden Bays most impressive treasures - Farewell Spit, Wharariki Beach, Pupu Springs, Nationals parks, beaches and forests. Golden Bay Motel features clean, spacious, comfortably furnished ground floor units with plenty of on-site parking. Studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. All with fully equipped kitchens, fridge,tea/coffee making facilities, separate toilet and shower, heater and electric blankets. Free wifi, guest laundry and Sky TV. Under cover parking for motorbikes and secure storage for mountain bikes available. Our friendly staff will do their very best to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable.

We slept in & left in a rush. Spilt about 20 grains of uncooked rice on the floor, he said there was rice all over the floor ☹️ Didn’t have time to do the dishes. And apparently we left a mess in g to he fridge & freezer. We stayed for 4 nights, were we not supposed to use the fridge ?? Place wasn’t that clean to start with, weeds everywhere.. etc etc Wouldn’t stay there again!

We had two nights at this motel, it was very clean and comfortable it was also nice having a kitchen area to cook meals. Living area the sofas were comfortable. Considering it is on the main road it was quiet

First time ever in Takaka and this place was pleasant. Dated and felt like I was staying at grandmas but thats not a bad thing. Spacious, clean, had everything we needed and Lex was very easy to deal with. He also upgraded us for free to a 2 bedroom unit instead of the studio unit which with 2 toddlers was a godsend!! Very close to town, a 2 minute bike ride down the road. Great central location to go on drives out to different beaches or the Anatoki Salmon farm, highly recommend this if you have kids. Free shed to keep the bikes in, free washing amenities which is great when you're constantly at the beach and bringing half of it back with you.

Not much to say. Good location, clean and spacious rooms and friendly service. There was even a playground in the back for kids. Jo was really accomadating and welcoming. We will definitely be back when we're back in Takaka.

On arrival we were greeted warmly, great service and nothing a problem. The manager had great local knowledge. Was great being able to use the laundry and great pricing (washer free dryer $4, coins can be obtained from office, laundry powder also provided free). Due to a booking issue we got to use 2 different units (3 & 4) Unit 4 from the lounge you had a view over the back yard/playground, nice and sunny with a small porch if you wanted to enjoy breakfast coffee outside. Unit 3 the bedroom over looked the yard/playground very sunny, with the small porch also. The units are very spacious, tho both the bathrooms on the small side, and we personally found both beds too soft. Older motel but would stay again.

Reception on arrival was more formal than friendly, with even a prepared personal document presented to you emphasizing more regulations than a thank you for choosing to stay with us. I was asked if there were any questions, but felt that were I to dare to ask, I would have been advised to have done my " homework" regards the locale earlier. Thankfully, I had. A good Guest Compendium was however provided in the room. The room itself was very much of a seventies style, which apart from some refined artwork looks as though it had not likely undergone any renovation since its beginnings. The lounge however did have a comfortable sofa as well as a table and chairs enabling a good working environment. Wi-Fi was a little erratic, but to be fair, the owner did say this was due to current work being done on the cable. Bedroom had a large comfortable bed. Kitchenette was quite compact as was the Bathroom. While found just on the edge of the town, it only takes a short five-minute walk to reach the shopping center.…

Call it motel all you like, I literally got more comfort and better service than in many MANY hotels around the world! Not only the owners are so helpful and nice, the location is great, rooms are spacious, communal areas are very enjoyable! Almost wish I had stay in the area longer! Must stay for sure if looking around the area!

A good welcome and everything explained to us. Nice size living space, bedroom opens up onto a private seating area and a beautiful garden with things to play on for the children. There is a bbq for guest use if requested in advance. Bathroom and shower area was small but adequate. Cooking facilities; there was not actually a cooker but there was a microwave, toaster, small portable grill/oven and a two ring electric hob plate. (Not forgetting the bbq). A laundry room and washing line was available. If you wanted an iron and ironing board this had to be requested from reception. Very clean. Handy hint for owners; The only mirror was in the bathroom and there was not a socket for the hairdryer in the bathroom. Therefore, when drying hair this had to be done ‘blind’ in the bedroom. A small mirror in the bedroom near the wall socket would have been really helpful 😉.…

Lovely old fashioned Motel with a great garden for families. We arrived on motorbikes, quite a big group of us and we shared the family rooms. The rooms were tidy and clean and we enjoyed our personalised introduction letter to our rooms. The hosts even took the time to post a motorbike related saying onto their notice board. An enjoyable stay.
