Detailed Reviews
Had a fantastic nights stay at Anatoki Lodge Motel recently before heading out on the Heaphy Track. Manager Gillian made my after hours check-in a breeze with her fantastic communication & organisation prior to my arrival. Even going the extra mile to check-out supplies in town for a gas cylinder for my camping stove, as I was flying into Takaka so couldn't carry onboard.
The Room (#3) was very spacious, well appointed, clean & tidy. It was great to have the space so I could lay everything out & do one last pack to make sure I had everything. It was also nice to have a plunger with a real coffee sachet, hot chocolate sachets & fresh milk in the fridge. The bed & pillows were super comfy, & there was also an electric blanket, so I had a great night sleep.
Anatoki Lodge Motel is reasonably priced & only a few minutes walk to the centre of Takaka. There was quite a few options for dinner in town that night (Thai, Takeaways, Food Truck etc) & a number of cafe's for breakfast the next morning. Takaka also a Fresh Choice supermarket within walking distance from Anatoki Lodge so I could grab some last minute supplies before I hit the track.
I had booked to stay at Anatoki Lodge after I finished the Heaphy Track, but unfortunately I had to cancel due to being caught-up in a severe weather event that changed our travel plans to fly out of Blenheim instead of Takaka, Gillian again was amazing in understanding my predicament, so a cancellation & refund was no issue.
I can highly recommend Anatoki Lodge Motel in Takaka for a great stay if you are doing the Heaphy Track/Abel Tasman Great Walks or just exploring the Golden Bay area. It certainly is a very magic & special place in New Zealand.
Thank you so much Gillian!!

We stayed three nights at Anatoki Lodge (originally booked for four) and found it to be the perfect spot to explore this part of the region. It's location means you can walk to town and despite being on the main road it's nice and quiet.
The owners were marvellous and very accomodating when we left a day early to move on to Blenheim.
What stood out to us was the cleanliness, that was outstanding and is very important to us.
This is a highly recommended place to stay!!

We stayed for 2 nights at Anatoki Lodge whilst visiting the area. We had unit number 10 which had 2 bedrooms. It was very spacious with its own peaceful patio and garden area to the rear. The unit was very well equipped with everything we needed, spotlessly clean and with very comfy beds. There was an indoor swimming pool which we didn't get to use and onsite laundry facilities. There was even an area where you could hose your car down if needed. The owner, Gillian was very pleasant and helpful offering plenty of advice not only on the local area but also for our onward travel. I would recommend a stay here.

Very spacious rooms, comfy beds. Clean units. Lovely private outdoor garden area to have afternoon drinks. So close to restaurants & cafes it’s an easy stroll to eat out or browse the shops. Family friendly. The pool is currently closed for maintenance so might pay to check with management if that’s something you’re looking forward to. Hosts were friendly & helpful. We were traveling with friends & enjoyed having our rooms right next to each other to maximize usage of the lovely private outdoor area.

The host was really friendly and welcoming. The studio room was really big and roomy with a comfy seating area and dining chairs and table. It had good kitchen facilities too if you want to do your own cooking. A good location and very quiet.

We were checked in by a really lovely, friendly lady who was just covering for the owner. She was very obliging and tried her best to do everything right. The room was great, old school, huge, comfortable and very clean. Great comfy bed and an awesome shower. I had trouble trying to get on to the Wifi and went to reception, admittedly it was around 8.30pm but I needed Wifi. Not sure if it was the time or just me, but I got the distinct feeling the owner, who had returned from where ever, was grumpy. She sorted the Wifi code then says, 'I notice we don't have your credit card. (I had been to try pay 3 x while she was away and was told to pay in the morning). Any way, she put me off, we were going to stay an extra night but decided to move on. On checkout, still not friendly, oh well.

Fantastic location, easy walk into 'town'. Host was very friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate and spacious (a tad dated but who cares, it was comfy and clean) with everything we needed albeit the room was noisy at night from the traffic outside (not the motels fault). Awesome patio area, great pool (family friendly), guest laundry and line. Had a brilliant stay here. Highly recommended

Hi. Thank you for your review. We are in the process of updating the rooms and hope to have them completed over the next year. Unfortunately, some traffic noise comes with being in the great location that we are in. Thank you for staying and hope to see you again soon. Regards, Gillian
