Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is awesome. Leeanne is friendly, welcoming and has thought of everything for your enjoyment and comfort. There's up to date information on where to eat, and activities in the area. We were in the Kiwi room which is lovely and spacious. We had initially booked a different room, but Leeanne said that, since we were staying a few days, she felt that this room would be nicer and more private. The chalets are arranged very well so that, once inside, you feel like you're secluded because you can't see anyone else's patio. I must also mention that the room was spotless! Every surface gleams. All the appliances are modern (and again, very clean). The showers are hot and high pressure. I would stay again.

My partner and I along with his parents both stayed here for 3 nights in 2 different Chalets. We absolutely loved it. Place was spotless and the hosts were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Their glow worm cave is an added bonus. Would recommend The Rocks Chalets to anyone and everyone.

This place is something special, Most accommodation providers have all the rooms in one building but at The Rocks, each chalet is separate and well away from the others offering ideal peace and tranquillity. Each chalet is very large and extremely well appointed. The location is about 800m short of the township in a beautiful location surrounded by trees and rocks. For a great stay in Golden Bay this place would be hard to beat.

Since our first stay in 2016, we have visited The Rocks Chalets half a dozen times. It is an easy distance from Nelson, the Takaka Hill road is finally back to 'normal' (given the type of road it is!), and The Rocks Chalets provides a perfect gateway to Takaka and Golden Bay. Among the individual chalets, we normally prefer the Kereru because of its privacy and secluded dell. This time we stayed in the Kiwi since it was winter and we wanted to maximize the sun. The chalet was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished, and well provisioned. It invites you to relax in comfort the moment you walk in. Leanne and Lloyd are attentive hosts who welcomed us back as good friends - which we have become. All meals, except for dinner, can be prepared easily in the kitchen area. Over time, the hosts have continued to improve the comfort of the facilities and the charm of the garden surroundings. The two full days we had, based on The Rocks, were delightfully relaxing and thoroughly worthwhile. We shall be back before the end of the year!

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. We stayed in Chalet #5 with the outdoor bath, and opted for the daily continental breakfast combo. The chalet was very well appointed and spacious, with a large bathroom, kitchenette with what looked like brand new appliances, heat pump, table and chairs, couch, plus additional seating outside in the awesome little backyard. There are resident wild birds that visit the chalets including quail and weka, which was such a lovely surprise. Breakfast was generous (and great quality) and the hosts were so lovely. We are looking forward to coming back in 2021!

Doesn’t look much on the outside, but very comfy on the inside.
Each room has its own outlook, garden & rocks.
Reception is super friendly.
Listen to where every light switch is, they are hidden.
The laundry is easy to use, washing powder is supplied in yr room.
There’s loads of anti bug gadgets, so no bites things got me.
Air con worked a treat.
Check out the glow worms.

What a lovely place. Nicola was amazing and so helpful. Great little touches, such as cookies, mints, bubble bath for the outdoor bath, salt and pepper, fresh milk and lots of Dvds and kids toys. An easy walk to town and nice patio for a BBQ and private outdoor bath.

What a truly delightful experience. Each studio is bordered by unique rock formations creating a very private setting for each guest. The landscaping invites you to enjoy a drink on the porch or a soak in the outdoor tub. The rooms are truly spacious with all the amenities you could hope for. The location is great, just a few minutes drive to fun restaurants in Takaka such as the Roots Bar. The owners were so kind to allow us to leave a couple suitcase’s while we trekked in Abel Tasman.
Highly recommend

Awesome venue, have thought of everything, wonderful hosts only too keen to make the stat great. A great central location for the north. Very clean, good hot water, units with BBQs were great and very clean, good indoor outdoor flow areas, cleaned the BBQ each morning for us, it was sparkling. Brushes and water for cleaning the mountain bikes was very handy. Thanks so much for making this a great stay for both couples travelling in our group. 😎😍👌

We had Tui chalet set towards the rear of the property. It is very quiet and has an outside bath, which was a treat. The outside deck area is great for sitting out or eating of an evening. The chalets are well kitted out and there is a communal cooking area with BBQ and pizza oven on the property as well as a washing machine and tumble drier. It is a great spot to stay for visiting the Golden Bay area and close to town so that you can walk in if you wish. Definitely worth staying here if you are planning a trip to the area.
